I thought that meant "air conditioning" for a minute, then realised that's a band I'd usually (i.e. anywhere else) refer to by their full name... sensitive types, don't look it up, whatever you do!

And what is wrong with a bit of AC/DC??? ;)

There is an obvious temptation here to bring Seth Putnam back as a hologram driver for the Bathurst Enduro and have him drive exactly as I would expect him to... i.e. the mentality of Ayrton Senna at Suzuka or Michael Schumacher on all his many misdemeanours, ramped up to 11, mixed with the "yee-haw, I's gonna put you in the wall, y'all" attitude of any one of a handful of NASCAR drivers... and garnished with all the talent of the offspring of Andy Neate and Carmen Jordá.

Following his appointment as chairman of the Restov Racing group, Edward Restov Junior has hinted that he could merge his breakaway team, Scuderia Vestore Motori, with the famous Anglo-Russian group. The move would be fairly simple if Warped officials allow it, as all of the Vestore mechanics and engineers are on the Restov payroll, and driver Luis Pereira is part of Restov's Youth Driver Development Programme. The only hitch is whether title sponsors HSBC would want to sponsor a Russian team, but given the teams relatively performances, the contract could well be rendered null and void regardless.

Dealt with on the xml, done. :) Entry lists will be updated shortly.

Also, given that the "sprint" courses does not have a pit road, I decide to adapt a "halftime" system used in the early days of NASCAR Truck Series, instead of forcing teams to run their cars continously without pitstops. Which means, there will be two scorinations: I'll post the first (halftime) results, remove DNFs, and then post the second (final) results. :)

Sorry for the delays, guys. The qualifying of the first "sprint" race is now up.

RACE 5: SEASIDE ROUTE 765/SUNNY BEACH
QUALIFYING

Image

*This round is held in the Ridge Racer V version of the course (known as Sunny Beach in that game). And yes, you are supposed to read the first paragraph when listening to Small Faces' Ogden's Nut Gone Flake (yes, THAT song from the first GTA V trailer)

Why we did race here? We guess because of the weather... or something else I don't know. You know, the thing... *cough*the magic*cough*. The beach. The drift. The girls. And now, we are here. To race. The fifth round of Warped Touring Car Series.

Orestes Granicus returns to his car and Daniel Cake, having replacing Granicus in Deep Forest - will now take over Dish Cleaner Racing's slot. For sprint races, a hotlap qualifying system is used... and for the results: you have been warned...

In a shock qualifying - thanks to the hotlap system, Anthony North and Martin van der Maeyede found themselves in the top two, with their teammates failing to qualify. Pereira and Korte both found themselves in the midfield. Last race's winner Robert Jackson will start behind the Ford-powered duo, with Amanada Lewis found herself too deadbeat against him to start the race. Cake had a somewhat promising qualifying with his full-time debut, beating both IBR-Alfas in process. Other drivers that fail to qualify today include Boudermann, Lang-Dong, and Suzuki.

As we say it again, due to lack of pitroads, the race will be using the "halftime" system, similar to those used in the early days of NASCAR Truck Series. And the race will start under rolling start.
Unconfirmed reports claim that, during the midnight after the qualifying, someone - who apparently stayed in the nearby hotel in the beach - claimed to sighted a car described "colored in black", "looking similar to a Group C machine" and "has the number 1049 printed in it". However, others were quick to deny this.

See you in the race, guys! :D

Depends on the track. If you want a lame driver look at the inconsistency of Ben Irwin who is usually found in a Mark Webber type of race where he's going back into the field.

Re: Warped Touring Car Series (SR765 RACE UP!)

Post by FMecha »

Racers, start your engines and let get it on... oh wait. (Right series, wrong game I know)

RACE 5: SEASIDE ROUTE 765/SUNNY BEACH
THE RACE

Image

*This round is held in the Ridge Racer V version of the course (known as Sunny Beach in that game).
24 laps (12 laps each 'half' for total of 24), sunny.

1 pm. Ridge City. Around the beach (and the streets leading to the final tunnel), the fans - mainly those of IBR and Good Call Racing, as well those of others - were chanting support for their favorite drivers, and carrying support attributes - heck, one of the fans thought it is a good idea to bring this as a banner on a touring car race. And finally, Bob Walker and James Page signed on the commentary. "Hello and welcome to another Warped Touring Car Series race in Seaside Route 765. My name is Bob Walker", as Walker signs in, followed by Page's "And hello Walker and my name is James Page, and yes I we are going to see exicting race today. :)"

With the safety car and the competitors showing up in the rolling start, heading to the main tunnel, the nearby screen read "ROLLING START! WARPED TOURING CAR SERIES". "And they're flooring it! The race has begun! It's the first lap!" screams Walker as the safety car returns to the service area.

In the first half, North stayed in the lead throught the race, and in the front-markers, overtake wars begun. Just within 4 laps, Jackson - the Deep Forest winner - suffered a tyre puncture when his front tires burst. With no way to pit in until the halftime is declared, he had no option but retire from the race. Meanwhile, the Finnish drunkard Harri Korte found himself in the points position by lap 6. In a short time, Maeyede sank to seventh while Blagojevic rose to second. Woods had some problems that led him sank to the 21st position, although he is known to be an inconsistent racer. With the race reaching 50% - 12th lap - the first half was over. The safety car was called in again to led the racers to the service area for a 15-minute 'pit-stop' break.

NF #46 Luis Pereira (Vestore/Restov-Ford)            Brakes (10)
NF #42 Robert Jackson (Omega-Opel)                   Burst tyre (4)

15 minutes later.

"And they're back, the second half is about to begin." said Page. Prior to the second half. Nasib Najib Bata decided not to start in the second half when his car were stuck in the service area due to thorttle and gearbox problems, requiring both components to be changed. However, the WTCS regulations forbade change of car components during the halftime break, only traditional pitstop stuff - tire change, refuelling, and stuff like that - are allowed during that period, so Bata were ruled out of second half. Retirements were low (discussed later) but attrition was very high despite high-speed nature of the course. Shamoun, Roberts, Cake, Perkelainen, and Irwin rose to the points positions, toppling Taki, Maeyede, and Wankucini from the points position. Shamoun challenged North for the lead, only to be overtaken by Irwin at lap 15. Severe exhaust problems knocked van Drunen out of the race at lap 16, with Page reportedly shouting "That's a very, very, big smoke coming from the back of van Drunen's car... I have never seen this before in a touring car race", with Walker responding "Yes, van Drunen's cars looks like his exhaust had fell apart" (which was true - a exhaust debris was found in the bridge, where he retired from the race).

North's problems continued. He was forced to give up his podium place with Roberts successfully challenging him. Blagojevic showed Holden's consistency problem once more with he finding himself at the middle of nowhere (read: mid-field). With just two laps two to go, Wankucini - in the "golden papaya" position zone ran out of fuel, denying him chance to score points. This was followed by Orestes Granicus' engine failure came nearly before the final stretch. He was 15th.

After 24 laps, Irwin crossed the finish line first to clinch the victory with the nearby screen reading "BEN IRWIN - TODAY'S RACE WINNER". Shamoun finished second - so improable that we decided to award Irwin and Shamoun a joint Infinity Improability Drive of the Race. Roberts survived in the third place. North had to settle for fourth, with Perkelainen behind him. Harri Korte scored his first points - and yet another point for Ford as a manufacturer. Behind them are Voeckler and full-time debutant Cake. Problems for Plus One in this weekend, with Jan failing to qualify and Martin getting robbed from points, awarded them Reject of the Race.

NF #42 Robert Jackson (Omega-Opel)                  Burst tyre (4) [1st half]

(^Bata's retirement was reported at lap 10 according to xkoranate, but lap 10 was first half and he did not retire at the first half. Therefore, I assigned him the mentioned DNF reason and lap. Also, if you think Granicus' and Wankucini's positions should be reinistated [xkoranate does not track lap times for the DNF, even those who DNF in final laps], tell me.)

With greetings from Ridge City, comment it! Standings to follow. ;)

Looks like the sprint races really favor Ben Irwin's driving style. I wonder if something was going sour in the Blagojevic car though as he fell from 2nd down to 14th in rapid fashion. At least both cars finished.

Anyway, why are we racing on a track without a pitlane??? Who's idea was this?? We might as well race on a track with no finish line, and have a 1 minute break between each 'lap'... ridiculous. We are not impressed.

A statement from Tony Fernando

I assure you I wasn't on holiday there. I was in Bangkok inspecting the track for the Thai Grand Prix 2015 and I assure you all I definitely didn't spend all my time on the beach, nor did I spend the time fishing in the sea, or investigating a new opportunity for coconut tea to expand my business with, and I definitely didn't go looking for a potential bride for one of the boys in the orphanage I grew up in, the one with the gammy eye that's always looking the wrong way a bit like Mrs Twit. All these are purely on the rumour mill and definitely didn't happen. As for the race... *unfolds printed email* Dear Mr Fernando, what are you doing bunking off on holiday when I've got to... wait, no, didn't mean to read that bit out... so... great race from Yrjö, horribly bad luck for Jason but we know he's got the pace to do well, a podium could have been ours, now keep calm and drink Fernando's White Leaf Coconut Tea that doesn't exist yet. Onwards!
James Allen, on his favourite F1 engine of all time:
"...the Life W12, I can't describe the noise to you, but imagine filling your dustbin with nuts and bolts, and then throwing it down the stairs, it was something akin to that!"

Your favorite racing series in the games' courses are now back as it's now moving to the World of Destruction Derby. Here's the...

ROUND 6: SCA MOTORPLEX
QUALIFYING

Image

Despite it's tagline of "The Home of Stock Car Racing", this track has also hosted some non-stock car events. And the biggest and the most ambitious of them is this very touring car race. A figure 8 track featuring a very sharp, but fast corner and many banked sections, this track will pose challenge. Let's see the qualifying results...

Scrattenheim locks the pole position for today with Nicchi and Irwin in second and third. Amanda Lewis found in the sixth position, with Jackson getting DBTMOTQ - a award generally given to Lewis. A reverse of fortune, perhaps? In front of her are the Nissan duo of Martin van der Maeyede and James Roberts, with Jan, Martin's father, posting a time that will start him behind Lewis. Lang-Dong found himself in 19th while Voeckler sank to the position behind him. Korte, Granicus, Drunen, Vasquez, Shamoun, and Cake all fail to qualify.

Mark our words: Total destruction may or may not happen.

Don't remind me. Cramped, somewhat short and without a real place to use the whole power of the Holden, I'm not surprised to be out of contention. This track is like a Tilkedrom for me.

Post by FMecha »

What you think of the track, eh? And the race you are waiting is here. :)

ROUND 6: SCA MOTORPLEX
THE RACE

Image

As the teams prepare for the race day, everyone looks ready for the race day, fans in the grandstands are eagerly waiting for their favorite racers to take action. And as usual, the obligatory sign on for the TV coverage by Bob Walker and James Page greets the TV viewers: "Welcome to another race of the WARPED TOURING CAR SERIES", said Walker, followed by Page's "This is the sixth round of the WTCS, held in the SCA Motorplex - a circuit usually associated with stock car racing." Everything goes well.

With the race beginning under a rolling start, the pace car - the ever infamous tuned WiLL VS - enters back to the pits and as the racers faced first turn, Walker screams "GO! GO! GO! GO!" as the first lap begins. Everyone was able to master turn one properly. Jorg had locked his lead and Nicchi challenged him, but Nicchi's bad luck strikes again as he sank to sixth by lap 7. Lang-Dong found himself in the 13th position by lap 10. On lap 14, Arthur Daniels, who were stuck in the backmarker position (he was 21st at that time), he severely broke his clutch, retiring him as others pitted in. Then just when Satoshi Taki left the pits for the scheduled pitstops, his rear-right wheels fell apart , with Walker comparing his incident to Nigel Mansell's and Timo Glock's incidents where those drivers had one of their wheels fell apart after leaving the pits (Page later followed up by saying that Walker forget to mention Michele Alboreto's incident) and Taki unable to do anything - he can't go back to the pits and refit the falling wheel because it is too late now and that would be illegal under the regulations, he had to retire from the race. This was followed by Nasib Najib Bata who spun out at the infamous tight turn as he overshot the turn. Martin van der Maeyede took the lead from Scrattenheim shortly afterward.

On lap 20, something that screams "total destruction" occured. On the one of the banked last turns, Jackson was running 14th. While Becker, then in the 15th position, attempted to overtake him, Becker's car went into contact with Jackson's car, sending both into different walls for each, knocking both out of the race, and triggering a yellow flag and yet another lengthy safety car period. The safety car period ended at lap 28. By lap 32 things has began to became chaotic. Kim Lang-Dong is now tenth and Amanda Lewis led briefly, only to be caught again by Martin vd Maeyede, taking the lead from her. North climbed to the fifth position by this point.

Woods dropped to 9th and Irwin rose to 6th by lap 44. On lap 45, a huge smoke was seen at the underpass section, the smoke later developing into a fire - it was traced to Hafidis Faera, which suffered "a very seriously castarophic" engine failure, as Page describes it. This was followed by Frenchman Voeckler running out of fuel two laps later, propelling Woods and Roberts to 7th and 8th respectively.

With no further action, Martin van der Maeyede wins the race with Amanda Lewis finishing second - we decided to give Infinity Improability Drive of the Race for her! Scrattenheim finished third to clear his mind from embrassment at Seaside Route 765. Nicchi finished fourth, North fifth, Irwin sixth, Woods seventh, and Roberts finished eigth. Shortly afterward, the scrutineering team discovered that Chiko Suzuki's car were underweight by 8% below the allowed value as defined in the rules, and she was disqualified from the race, having initially finished 14th one lap down. This, further with one of Taki's wheels failling apart after he left the pits, led to the Nippon Racecraft awarded the Reject of the Race for this race.
