Hirate charged through the field like expected, but I didn't expect he would finish second as his qualifying lap was only good for 8th quick and the rather poor starting position of 21st. Guidry managed to be well off pace, but he's an oval specialist and for him just to make the race is a challenge. Still no match for Natalie Ryder, but if Hirate had started in 8th he might have won it out right.

Meanwhile in Onyx... Finally Gachnang makes the field, but I have no idea how she got in the field while Guidry didn't. Kohei qualified strongly but some crash happened. I suspect that Matteo Vasquez crashed into Kohei from behind after pitting in. He might have been light on fuel and misjudged that Kohei was heavily laden with fuel as I know that Vasquez wasn't much faster than Gachnang in Q2.

Indeed, although being steady enough to make it through the early race crash fest was a good sign. I suspect some sort of mechanical due to lack of pace. Could have had a double points finish if it wasn't for that. However a 10th and a possible 11th or 12th wouldn't be all that impressive.

Vergne to go stateside!

Nebula driver Jules Vergne has spent 2016 so far dovetailing his IFRC duties with racing in the F1RICS, occupying a seat stateside with the Mastercard Lola team. However, as Vergne has spent a few times this year being double-booked, the Frenchman will make the move full-time to F1RICS.

"I've really enjoyed racing in Indycars" said Vergne, "and because my results in IFRC haven't been so good I thought I'd try and extend my stay in America. Nebula have let me pursue that, and I thank them for that".

Nebula are actively seeking a replacement to partner British ace Quentin Reatherson.

This article made me look around for a few things on the wiki, and I found a problem. On the 2016 F1RICS page, Jules Vergne is listed as taking part in rounds 1-9, 11-14, 16-18 and 20-24. Mazzacane comeback at Indy

Former CART team owner and race winner José Pablo Mazzacane has confirmed the reports that he will be running at this years' Indy 500 for Commonwealth Racing. Mazzacane was present at Indianapolis for the last time in 2010. "I'm really looking forward to returning to Indianapolis after six years, and I would like to thank Commonwealth Racing for this chance to enter the event.", Mazzacane said.

"This might be my last Indianapolis 500, but if we are competetive, I would consider returning in 2017", he explained. He has denied roumors that Mazzacane Motorsport is planning to return to american single-seater racing.

"No, there are no such plans, as we're busy with our RWRS programm, and we're planning to extend that programm in the future."

Commonwealth will be running a Reynard 13i chassis paired with a Honda engine. This leaves us with $12,000 for which to augment Mr. Mazzacane's skills.
