The only thing we have to worry about is Bump Day with cars around 30th quick in many races.

Because IBR are so stupidly rich, they will pay to bump all of Pratchett, Christopherson AND Robertson to 10-10-10 :D

We will also buy 2 accel and 4 cornering for Vergne. Also, given Calvin Brooks' ever changing schedule as he jumps from series to series, we are dropping him from our lineup, and Vergne will drive the races Brooks was initially penciled in for.

Can we have the actual list of money aviable? Or we can just update our drivers even if we are into debt?

You can spend money, even if you are in debt. Although I may actually update your budgets before the Indy 500, so everyone knows how much money they really have.

How many of our 3 drivers can MBR afford to bring up to 10-10-10 WITHOUT going into debt? :)

Well, time to charge Schumacher's two not-10-skills right back up to 10 to see if we can salvage something from this season.

That explains why Laurent was so shite. You got his stats mixed up with Stern's

Also, now that the calendar's almost caught up to everything else, Indy will be ZimSport's last race for the season, as changed plans require Laurent in the GT-R WC.

While qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 will be tomorrow, I'll already explain the procedures:

- I'll do the 11/11/11 qualifying IndyCar does nowadays, as I feel that this is more exciting than just having pole and bump day.
- There will be 4th qualifying session, which will be bump day anyway. On this session, everyone who couldn't qualify for the Indy 500 so far has one last chance to make the field. Also like in real life, drivers who have already set a time can "waive" their run, if they feel that their time is too slow. But you can only waive your run once, so you should really think before you waive your qualifying time.

Qualifying should begin somewhere in the afternoon (central european time), so you should have some time left to upgrade your drivers.

www.nbcsports.com wrote:Álvarez Competición to debut at Indy 500?

Former journeyman racer José Álvarez appears to be close to tying up a deal to enter a one-off car at the Indianapolis 500, subject to final approval from the F1RICS commission.

The Spaniard has been longing to run his own racing outlet, and after a poster from motorsports magnate Astro Racing Group appeared advertising that "The Bull Has Risen" it seems that Álvarez has done a deal with the British company to open up a new team ready for 2017. An insider has told us that Álvarez Competición have come into contact regarding an entry for 2017, and the team were offered a chance to dip their toe in the water with an appearance at the Indy 500.

It is unknown who will drive for the nascent outfit, but it is rumoured that Czech driver Jiri Komarek will drive for the team. Komarek has made some appearances in F3RWRS this season, as well as having driven in the Super Touring Cup in the winter.

If it's allowed, Mastercard Lola wants a 5th car at Indy 500.

#29 Frédéric-Maxime Voeckler (FRA)
10/10/10

The Indy 500 does not clash with GTRWC, so he is free to participate :D

Despite still in trouble with IRS (and with CZi apparently rage-freezing funding after the team got kicked out of F3RWRS) Aurico will upgrade the stats of Macmillan to 7-7-7 and Carlos to 6-8-7. :)

I'm sorry. I've included your team now.

You can still do driver upgrade and nominate one-off entries for Indy until 8pm central european time. The first qualifying session will be tonight, while bump day and the Indy 500 itself will be on sunday.

The Álvarez Competición Indy 500 entry, subject to final approval:

Budget: $50,000

Chassis: Panoz DP10 (-$16,000)
Engine: Mazda SkyActive V6T (-$15,000)
Driver: Jiri Komárek
Number: 19
Stats: 7-6-6 (-$19,000)

Which should equal $0...I think.

It's time for the greatest race in the world, the Indianapolis 500...not yet, as today will only see the first three qualifying session. Tomorrow will see bump day and the race itself, but I'll come to that later. But first, let's take a look at the results from the practice sessions:

Not only did Cassidy Racing shatter Voeckler's lap time from the 1st practice, the fast ladies of the team shattered that time together. So far, Indy looks to be an affair exclusively between Mastercard Lola and Cassidy Racing, no pun intended. But Michael Bright Racing and Hasselhoff Racing shouldn't be left out, as they also fielded competitive times. But now, it's time for the first qualifying session, which will determine the pole sitter for the 100th Indianapolis 500!

1st Qualifying Session from Indianapolis

Haven't I told you to not count out Micheal Bright Racing? Now they've got the pole position for the 500! Natacha Gachnang's 10th position also deserves mention. If she's not bumped off the grid, she may have a very good starting position for the 500.

Now there will be a bump day session tomorrow. You can now either withdraw your time, if you fear that your time is not enough. Those, who did not qualify yet have another attempt at qualifying on bump day. As in real life, the slowest overall car is on the bubble, which is Martin van der Meyde at the moment, unless Pasta withdraws his time and does one final qualifying attempt. If other teams want to withdraw their driver's lap times, say so in this thread. I'll see everyone else tomorrow.

Just to increase some sponsor time, Alvarez Competicion will withdraw the time of Jiri Komarek. Seeing as he's close to the bottom, we might as well.

Collin Pratchett will also rescind his time and participate in Bump Day, considering how three of the four drivers behind him have already done so, putting his place on the grid at risk. Given his practise times, he should never really have been in this position to start with, but we'll hope he'll put things right tomorrow.

Gachnang and Hirate are very safe, but I give Guidry a 90% chance of staying in the field as it is. The problem is that in practice that he has been less competitive and thus withdrawing would be risky and possibly end up like Jigger Sirois back in 1969. Gachnang is much safer with an incredible 15 slower entries in the 33 that would have to withdraw or be bumped for her to be on the bubble including Roy Guidry himself who would have to be bumped. Starters in on the insides of rows 4 and 5 look good.

Matti made the lap of his life! I couldn't ask for anything better for the young rookie! On the other hand, JM Lopez had yet more troubles with the setup and couldn't manage a clean lap. Hopefully, he can recover in bump day as he have the speed to get into the show

It's time for bump day, the last attempt for some teams to make the Indianapolis 500. Some drivers, who already qualified for the Indy 500 take the gamble and withdraw the times they've already set, in order to improve their time. Here's a list of those drivers:

Drivers who withdrew their initial qualifying time:

- Martin van der Meyde
- Jiri Komarek
- Sam Baromono
- Collin Pratchett
- Jeremy MacMillian

That would put David Lee on the bubble, but since these five drivers withdrew their qualifying times, there are now only 28 cars qualified for the race. Which means that these five grid spots need to be refilled. Once we have reached 33 cars, bumping will commence, though. This is the order in which the cars will attempt qualifying:

Code: Select all

Jose Maria Lopez
Ryan Zimmer
Johannes das Schaf
Antonio Reyna-Sanchez
Buddy Lazier
Tim Horan
Martin van der Meyde
Phil McCracken
Jiri Komarek
Herbert Aston
Lance Vance
Sam Baromono
Collin Pratchett
Veronika Asimov
Jeremy MacMillan
Pedro Luiz Gonzalez

Jose Maria Lopez hits the track first. But his 4-lap average of 40.935 is really disappointing. He especially failed to take enough speed into the corners. But for now, he is qualified for the race, as the grid now composes 29 cars.

Ryan Zimmer hits the track next and his time is better than Lopez's...but still not good. His 4-lap average is only 40.139.

Next is Johannes das Schaf. If you bet on him making the field and if he'll actually make the field to the 500, you might leave Indy as a rich man. His lap time isn't even that bad, scoring a 4-lap average of 39.783!

Antonio Reyna-Sanchez is up next, scoring a very good average of 39.418, which should probably put him onto the grid.

Buddy Lazier is now attempting to be 33rd car to qualify for the race. But his average lap time isn't good, as it's only 40.139!

With 33 cars now qualified, bumping begins. Jose Maria Lopez is on the bubble, with his 40.935.

Tim Horan is next on the track, trying to bump Lopez off the grid. He succeeds, after burning a 39.686 to the tarmac!

Buddy Lazier is now on the bubble, as Martin van der Meyde attempts to qualify. But he's really struggling with his ill-handling Reynard-Chevy. He loses too much speed in the corners, thus only putting a 40.390 average on the track! Buddy Lazier's safe for now!

Lazier is still on the bubble, as Phil McCracken makes his attempt to qualifying. But his lap time is only slightly better than van der Meyde's: A 40.365!

Jiri Komarek is next and he proceeds to comfortably make it to the grid. His 39.342 is more than enough to bump off Lazier.

Herbert Aston's next qualifying attempt doesn't deserve many words. A 40.908 is nowhere near enough to make it to the grid.

Lance Vance is up next. Can he avoid the embarressment of not qualifying? Ryan Zimmer is on the bubble by now...but not for too long, as Vance sets a 38.696!

Sam Baromono is next. Can he put Johannes das Schaf off the bubble? Just barely, as his 39.740 is enough to bump off the man his peers call "the sheep".

Collin Pratchett is next. Will Mastercard Lola have all cars on the grid, or will Pratchett be the black sheep? The former is the case, as Pratchett runs a 38.746!

Tim Horan is now on the bubble, as the last three cars make their attempt at qualifying. Veronika Asimov is first! But her attempt isn't successful, as she only scores a 39.782.

Two drivers left, as Jeremy MacMillan attempts to qualify his car...and he succeeds with a 38.748. Tim Horan is bumped off!

This puts David Lee on the bubble, a driver who took the gamble to not withdraw his car. But can Pedro Luiz Gonzalez cross his plans? Nope! His 40.747 simply ain't enough to bump off Lee.

Goddamn, that was a close-run thing for Antonio.

I think that's a sign Horizon Motorsport should upgrade their stats to 10-10-10 for all four of their drivers.
