Piercarlo Ghinzani doesn't have the record for fewest points per race. I think that belongs to Olivier Grouillard.

1 point in 64 races is worse than 2 points in 111 races. Especially since he should have scored points for Tyrrell.

Actually, there is someone with an even worse average than Olivier Grouillard's: Gabriele Tarquini.

1 point in 78 races. 79 if we count him as being entered for the 1989 Brazilian GP with FIRST.

Because that's what I thought this forum celebrates the most.

Formula One Drivers With Over 10 Career Victories by Number of Home Grand Prix Victories

'Home Grand Prix' in this case means the grand prix of the nationality they raced under - so Nico Rosberg's home grand prix is the German Grand Prix. European Grands Prix, US West, Pacific Grands Prix, etc. are not counted as home grands prix, even if won by a driver from the country hosting the grand prix. So in the years there was a Spanish Grand Prix at Catalunya and a European Grand Prix at Valencia, only the Spanish Grand Prix would count for Fernando Alonso. Don't like my methodology? Feel free to sit and work out the stats in a way which pleases you.

Alain Prost 6
Jim Clark 5
Michael Schumacher 4
Nigel Mansell 4
Juan Manuel Fangio 4
Ayrton Senna 2
Fernando Alonso 2
Jackie Stewart 2
Nelson Piquet 2
Stirling Moss 2
Emerson Fittipaldi 2
Alberto Ascari 2
David Coulthard 2
Felipe Massa 2
Sebastian Vettel 1
Niki Lauda 1
Lewis Hamilton 1
Damon Hill 1
James Hunt 1

Intersting that no Brazilian driver has won any more or less than 2 grands prix in Brazil.

Just did a little research on Sebastian Vettel, specifically the VETTELWINSLOL assumption.

Vettel has led the first lap of a GP 38 times
Vettel has converted first lap leads to victories 25 times
So when Vettel leads the first lap, there is around a 66% likelihood he'll win.

Looking at it another way, Vettel has won 32 GPs.
So 78% of his victories have come when leading the first lap.

I'll need to do some further analysis to see how this compares to other drivers.

Alonso must be smarting. He has been in F1 for 12 years and has won a lot yet a bloke who has been in F1 for exactly half that time has already won the same amount of races as him (32) and is set to go even further.

Remember I found out that Vettel has never won at a certain track for 3 successive years: Singapore is next...

Hmm...I'm almost 100% sure Martin Brundle said exactly the same thing.

The only person Alonso needs to look out for is himself. If he keeps looking over at Vettel, he'll get distracted. Last season, he was making the best of his situation...he needs to do the same now.

Two Pieces of F1 History comin' up!

Post by ryangregg12345 »

With the end of the season coming close, 2013 could be the most historic year in Formula One history, seeing that no polesitter has retired from a Grand Prix yet this year, and Max "Chily" Chilton has finished every race in his debut season so far despite being at the bottom of the standings. Neither of these things have ever happened before (not counting 2004 where Schumi Two (Ralf, of course) took pole in Canada and finished second behind his big bro only to be disqualified afterwards), and these could be two important additions to the F1 History Tree.

Speaking of polesitter DNF's, we came close to a 100% finishing record from pole in 2011, until the penultimate round in Abu Dhabi, where Vettel, with the title already clinched, led into the first turn from pole only for his tyre to go bang at the worst of moments.

And, in 2007, Heikki 'Angry Birds' Kovalainen could have been the first driver to finish every race in his debut season, had it not been for that crash at the halfway point of the season finale in Brazil, just 36 laps short of the achievement.

Two branches of F1 history are currently sprouting from the History Tree and will be fully grown if both these achievements are fulfilled by season's end.

3 races to go, Abu Dhabi, Austin & Interlagos.

If Kimi Raikkonen scores a podium in all three events, he will tie Ayrton Senna for career podiums this season.
Senna had 80. Kimi sits at 77.

Gerhard Berger's win at the 1997 German Grand Prix was unusual in many ways.

It was Berger's last win.
It was Benetton's last win.
Berger's first win was at Mexico 1986, the same race where he also took Benetton's first win.
It was Benetton's only win as an Italian team.
It was the first non-Ferrari win for an 'Italian' constructor since Maserati at the 1957 German Grand Prix.

Liberal usage with the last one, but still... quite interesting none-the-less.

But Senna was racing when I was twelve and Raikkonen wasn't, so Senna's still better.

Heidfeld finished all 18 races in 2008 but was lapped in Monaco (4 times) and Brazil so was 5 laps short and Raikkonen of course missed out in Brazil being a lap down there last year. Button is the closest to 100% laps this year just 5 short again

If Kimi Raikkonen scores a podium in all three events, he will tie Ayrton Senna for career podiums this season.
Senna had 80. Kimi sits at 77.

But Senna was racing when I was twelve and Raikkonen wasn't, so Senna's still better.

By that logic Derek Warwick > Kimi Raikkonen?
The Iceman Waiteth
What if Kimi Räikkönen hadn't got his chance in 2001?

By that logic, Taki Inoue and Jean-Denis Deletraz are better than Raikkonen?! ;)
