BTCC 2004 - Croft Race 18 Results Up

Post by Samster »

Once I'm finished with A1 Grand Prix 1951, I'd like to give another idea of mine a go. An alternate BTCC championship.

So we'll start by saying 'screw you' to Alan Gow and not let him retake the helm of the series over the 03/04 off season. Instead I'm put in charge staring from the 2004 season and there will be many changes, mainly inspired by V8 Supercars.

Race Format
The main change will be the races which will include some recreations of some of V8S's classic events, within Britain. First of all a Cadwell 1000 at Cadwell Park, a 1000 km long enduro featuring co-drivers, three guesses on the inspiration.

Then we have our Clipsal 500 equivalent which will be held on the streets of Cardiff near the Bay, giving us some street races and putting Wales back onto the calender. This involves two 250 km races. Bournemouth will also hold a pair of street races in a likely futile attempt to recreate the Gold Coast 600, which involves two 300 km races and international co-drivers.

The rest of the schedule will have weekends of two or three races making up a total of 400 km. This will either be, a 200 km race each on the Saturday and Sunday, one 150 km on Saturday and a 250 km on Sunday, or two 100 km sprints on Saturday, the second being a reverse grid followed by a 200 km on Sunday.

The BTCC will also have a couple of rounds overseas in Europe in an attempt to attract foreign drivers and sponsors back into the series. This includes our Sandown 500 recreation which will be held at Spa-Francorchamps.

2004 Calender

1. March 19-21 - Rounds 1-2, Cardiff Bay 500
2. April 9-11 - Rounds 3-5 Thruxton
3. April 23-25 - Rounds 6-7 Monza
4. May 7-9 - Rounds 8-9 Silverstone
5. May 21-23 - Rounds 10-11 Oulton Park
6. June 11-13 - Rounds 12-13 Mondello Park

7. July 2-4 - Round 14 Spa 500
8. July 16-18 - Round 15 Cadwell 1000

SEAT's 2004 lineup will consist of Yvan Muller and Colin Turkington. We will also run Mat Jackson in a third car at selected events, if this is allowed. Turkington and Jackson will run numbers 17 and 18, respectively.

#81: Gavin Smith

Though I'm not entirely sure we're supposed to be picking drivers yet. Samster, can you clarify?

I mean only the cars that you want and how many, no picking drivers yet.

Driver choices process will be started in a few days. It will be similar to Flashcenpost's F1 where a driver can decline an offer based on random.org. The larger teams will have first choice.

Created the wiki page for this, the link is in my signature.

Standings will be updated on there but I'll post race results in the thread to save time.

Teams Still Avaliable
Edenbridge Racing £700,000
Kartworld Racing £650,000
TH Motorsports £620,000
John Batchelor Racing £600,000

Also need to know which car Synchro Motorsport will use and how many.

Plus car numbers for Honda, GA, Synchro and Collard.

Look out for a few wildcard entries from other S2000 spec series like ETCC, ITCC and STCC. I may even drive a car myself in game for the odd event (in game). I'm using NR2003 for this by the way, as I am for A1GP.

You'll both be able to put an offer in once the driver sign up begins.
