Upgrades:
Each team can apply to upgrade their car 5 times per season. Upgrades can be applied at any time, but there is a limit of one upgrade application per race weekend.

The upgrade categories are

Increase engine torque
Increase engine top speed
Increase engine reliability
Decrease the random element of reliability (May make your car more or less likely to retire. It's a gamble)
Decrease chassis mass
Decrease overall body drag
Increase front wing downforce
Decrease front wing drag
Increase rear wing downforce
Decrease rear wing drag

But here's the catch, whether or not you will get an upgrade will be down to probability.

You can ask for a large upgrade in any area - but it is the least likly to be successful.
You can ask for a medium upgrade in any area - roughly middle ground in terms of successfulness.
You can ask for a small upgrade in any area - most likely to be successful.

Team Upgrades
Ligier - 2
Tyrrell - 2
Brabham - 2
Lotus - 2
RAM - 1
Ferrari - 1
Renault - 2
Shadow - 3
Wolf - 2
Ensign - 2
Merzario - 1
McLaren - 1
Williams - 2
Arrows - 2
Rebaque - 2
JLD - 2
Alfa - 1
Audi - 2
Restov - 3
Osella - 2
Toleman - 4
Minardi - 5

Testing:

Each team will receive 14 testing tokens. Each token can be exchanged in return for a test at a track of your choosing with the drivers of your choosing. However, different venues cost a different amount of tokens. FISA will introduce a circuit grading system based on each circuit's suitability.

1 Token - Category 4, 3 circuits
2 Tokens - Category 2 circuits
3 Tokens - Category 1 circuits
4 Tokens - Championship venues

Team Tokens
Ligier - 11
Tyrrell - 10
Brabham - 11
Lotus - 14
RAM - 11
Ferrari - 14
Renault - 9
Shadow - 14
Wolf - 14

Elio de Angelis was released by Merzario so he can be signed, while Piquet is currently contracted to Brabham. He may be released though

Arrows confirm Kieran Sutherland and Riccardo Patrese for 1980.

Engine-wise we'll be sticking with what we have, but we're looking to change that for the next season. //Actually, any chance of scoring myself a turbo engine as well? Unless I missed something and we already have them, of course, but I doubt that. If not, I'm saving that for '81.

Chassis-wise we're going to use the new A3 if we're allowed to (aka if the development is already complete), otherwise we would like to start working on it as soon as possible.

As Andrea de Cesaris is currently employed by another team we would like to release him so that he can fully concentrate on his main job. Arrows would like to thank him for his services and for the stellar job that he did while he was standing in for Patrese.

As of now the team are looking for a new test driver. //long story short I have no idea who to employ out of those that haven't been taken yet
Sticking his neck on the line, one post at a time. Oh, and Singapore is still better than Monaco.

If anybody wants Renault engines, we'd be happy to give them defecti-- err, I mean, perfectly functional units. They're only slightly less likely to blow up than last year! ...I think.

I was under the impression that Osella had a contract for naturally-aspirated Alfa Romeo engines, which will be improved to turbo units next year in exchange for giving them a choice over our second driver. Other than that, no mistakes.

Audi are still looking to require the services of Niki Lauda if possible.

However with Andretti and Bellof out of the picture - Audi would still like to have a German driver for their #2 car...... at the moment, negotiations have opened up with Jochen Mass and Rolf Stommelen as possible candidates.

However our test driver has been unconfirmed as we are unsure of Niki Lauda's service being available - once we have an answer to that, everything else will become a lot more clearer!

Fittipaldi Automotive may have gone, but if Emerson Fittipaldi wants to continue in Formula One, Merzario will give him our other race seat alongside Andretti. If instead he decides not to return to Formula One, we will hire Andrea de Cesaris instead.

As far as my understanding goes, having a test driver is completely optional. Although I guess it is handy to have one as a contingency plan in case one of your main drivers are either unable or unwilling to drive the damn thing.

Test drivers are optional. The test driver is kind of like a reserve driver, as generally they replace drivers that have ben injured/sacked. Also, at the pre season test and the in season test, test drivers run alongside main drivers so you can gauge their relative performance :)

So Ensign wants Honda engines, eh? OK, but they will have to be last year units since Williams holds the privilege to use the up-to-date powerplants in accordance to the agreement signed with Honda Motor Co. and Williams Grand Prix Engineering. In other words, Ensign gets unreliable, yet powerful units. Not a bad deal at all for a team that struggled to qualify for races this season.

RAM March might debut a new Hart V4 Turbo engine from the British GP on, fitting a Ferrari V12 into a Lotus is too costly to continue on the long term.
As part of the cost-cutting the test/reserve driver will be Emilio De Villota, who already drove a race last year, and has money.

Niki Lauda,

Rolf Stommelen,

Marc Surer,

Audi is interested in these drivers and would like to negotiate with their respective managers! :)

In that case....

Audi have put forward an offer for Niki Lauda to become their lead driver. If no objections are raised within 24 hours, then expect an announcement tomorrow.

Audi are still waiting to hear back from the other managers in their list of prefered drivers and will wait a bit longer to see if an agreement can be made before Driver #2 and Test driver is confirmed :)

Jochen Mass and Stomellen have no managers so they are free to sign :)

Fantastic! :D However... my decission will wait until I hear back from Lauda's Manager (if he has one) And Surer's :)
