Maybe this result will convince him to keep going to Rio 2016...he said he might retire from hand-cycling after the Paralympics but maybe this will convince him otherwise.

Certainly Paralympians seem rather impervious to age; there are athletes competing well into their 50s. Zanardi would be 49 in Rio - not out of the question by any means.

According to the article his closet competitor was 6 years his senior! Here's to hoping he goes to Rio and gets a second Gold medal.

Or he could do a Morgan Shepherd and return to motor racing as a pensioner...

In 1991, as a 24-year-old with his sights trained on Formula 1, he secured second place in a Formula 3000 race for the Il Barone Rampante team around the track.
After losing his legs, he returned in 2008 to take third place in a specially adapted car as part of an Italian-Spanish team that finished third in the World Touring Car Championship.
Does anybody know if he'll be there competing, or just in attendance, on Saturday? That's when I'll be there...
EDIT: Also reported on Autosport for balance of reporting...

Wait, what? What's the problem here? The only 'hater' I can really think of is DonTirri, but I don't really recall anyone getting so pissed off at him that they actually left...

IIRC, it was the debate surrounding the name of the Helmut Marko thread that drove CoopsII away

At least that thread seems to have died a death. Maybe it ought to be locked so it cannot be resurrected?

Good idea, perhaps it will warn others that spewing hate has no place here (although the majority of posts in that thread were debating the title, not actual 'hating'. I've never witnessed hate on here apart from in posts by DomTirri or Pamphlet)
all arguing aside i think this is a crowning achievement for Zanardi. I also think that Ganassi should run the two Target cars under this livery in California for the final race of the season as tribute to his success.
I believe in German BARawnda-Tyrrell-Simca(and it's working)

He drove a CART car after his accident, so why not once more?

I'm so happy about this. There's an interview with him on the Channel 4 website (for those outside the UK, not sure if you can see it) which is fantastic.

Ok Jimmy. You know what to do

Oh? Cheers for that. It wasnt just the Hate thread, it was the way the forum has changed recently and I dont think Im the only one who thinks that. The current moderator, I forget his/her name, is very weak and the sites become a bit too random for me. As someone pointed out, if you dont like it - dont read it, fine, I wont

I'll check in every now and then...
Are you referring to Phoenix, Mario, or both collectively?

The timings weren't working, seemingly, for most of that race - either that or they really were all so close together that Alex really did win a ten-lap race by one second. If it turns out to be different... I'll post the results. But I have seen it for myself, I've seen Alex holding his bike above his head in triumph, it's him out in front for sure.
Get in there my son, again, and Jamie and Enoch - you know what to do next podcast, right?
