Understandably, this idea has received a lot of criticism and will hopefully be dropped before the series starts.

It won't take long for all the teams to start working on automated-tweeting software to give their drivers an advantage.

You would have thought that the organisers would have heard about the spread of fake votes on social networks to persuade sponsors to part with their cash and considered how that could be similarly abused for such a purpose.

In dinizintheoven's F1RMGP, DAMS and Prost merged into one team. It has happened in reality now (sort of).

Alain Prost and DAMS have started the e.dams team to compete in Formula E next year:

Let's hope that, this time around, Prost's business acumen is sharper and the team stays manages to stay afloat. The Formula E grid does seem to be gradually filling up, although the numbers do still seem to be a bit thin on the ground.

now, is the "e" in "e.dams" short for Erik Comas?

Interesting to see Mark Preston's involved - he has designed concept electric vehicles before, and with Formula E saying it plans to open up chassis design after the first season(s), it looks like Soopah Aguri are planning ahead. Also, he has at times looked at setting up his own F1 team, and he (at least recently) worked for Formtech.

And better still, the cheesy "e.dams" name isn't a million miles away from the equally food-related initials of Société Prost-Arnoux Motorsports!

Top quality news about Super Aguri as well. It'll be hard knowing which of these two to throw my support behind.

The grid is pretty awesome:

Prost-Dams
Soopah Aguri
Drayson Racing, who make electric cars with Lola
China Racing, whose previous experience was A1GP
Andretti Autosport, run by someone who's not a reject just because he was in a McLaren
Dragon Racing - is actually Penske!

Nope. It's run by Roger Penske's son Jay Penske, but the two organisations are completely unrelated otherwise. Otherwise Dragon Racing wouldn't be the rejectful shambles of a race team that it is.

Coloni? Minardi?

If they BOTH were to join the series (to accompany Super Aguri who are there already), I can hereby declare that I will give up on watching all other forms of motorsport in order to enjoy Formula E in its fullness, should such events occur.

Just looking to see Simtek and Pacific to also enter. A shame that it would be unlikely to have a MasterCard Lola team here...

Well, theres a few Reject teams that are still existing in one series or the other, obviously Coloni, but also Zakspeed. I don't know what Zakspeed are currently doing, so they should read this and take this as a hint ;)
Of course, Coloni is running the AutoGP championship, which is rejectful enough in its own right, they don't need any Formula E

Now where are new teams like USFE when you need them?

If chassis production is opened up, Lola might end up making chassis for Drayson. Probably won't be hiring Rosset or Sospiri though.

The other rumoured teams are Bluebird (of land-speed record fame), Mahindra (who make electric cars in India) and Vastha Racing (don't seem like a serious outfit, as I cannot find anything about them that suggests they're more than a name) and Team Rosberg.

Super Aguri Returns As Formula E Team

Post by Snoozey2 »

Honestly, if this can't get anyone excited about auto racing again, nothing can... :o

Image

Autosport: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/111013

In all seriousness, i sincerely hope Formula E can be the "new frontier" for open-wheel racing for both drivers and engineers alike.
ample room (hopefully) for innovation & creativity, and unknown on-track challenges & variables galore.
and when there are variables to be had, the potential of "reject"-goodness is limitless.
