Likewise for Lansvale, although we're expecting the reviews will all be average at best.

Twinings Earl Grey

Twinings are a team with numerous good riders but perhaps without an all out leader some other teams have.
Cutting straight to the chase, the two riders that would have the best chance overall are Sven Johansson and Carl Kerr.

The two riders are polar opposites in riding style.
Sven Johansson is perhaps the most inconsistent man on the tour, he can win stages with minutes lead on the field and then the next stage drop 20 minutes on the leaders!
Carl Kerr is equally talented, but instead is much more consistent, rarely gracing the top 5 on stages but easily taking top 10 overall results by hanging on to frontrunners.
Often the two end up close together on the final time sheet.

Whilst those are the top 2 for overall, Twinings has a number of potent weapons.

Alex Harris is the greatest breakaway rider in the tour, when he accelerates at the front he can be impossible to catch, he also seems to have a sense for spotting the perfect time to strike.
He isn't physically strong enough to challenge general classifications, instead he waits until the 2nd half of the tour to score large amounts of points, no matter what the stage.

Twinings has established itself as one of the lead teams on the hill stages.
This is no doubt down to the strength of Craig West and Storm Danielsen.
West is Twinings original superstar and is likely to have team leader status in the opening week, with the recent signing Danielsen beginning to challenge.
Twinings have a real chance of leading the teams championship early on, it is the mountains where the team has looked weak lately.

One man that could help in that department is Janne Nordman.
Nordman was one of the heroes of the Tour de Suisse, he nearly won a stage even after a midway fall and then devoted himself to protect the team leaders at the cost of his own time.
In Nordman you have a team player that can carry anyone on any stage.

Those would probably be the 6 riders that should automatically get on the tour.

After that selection gets tricky.

Jacob Denver surprised everyone on the Criterium, he managed to hang on to the leaders over the first few stages than smashed everyone on the time trial to be overall leader by the midway point of the tour!
Denver hasn't shown form like that in the other tours he has run and his impact in the team is questionable, but he may be a good bet for timetrials and at least a partial help on hill stages.

The young Russian Nikolay Borsukov could give the team a little more firepower over the mountains, but his form in the last tour was worse than disappointing.
He didn't disgrace himself on the Giro but he wasn't all that close to some of the other promising youngster on tour. I don't really know what to make of him.

In terms of sprinting, Twinings have had a horrible record!
James Davies, Marco Venerdi, Shinji Myamoto, Jose Vasquez and Louis Gallard all have sprint skills, but none of them have ever troubled the top sprinters!
James Davies form has been especially odd, on the last tour he seemed to perform every role but sprinter, and didn't do too bad either!

On paper Jean Gauthier doesn't look all that special, but he has been in great shape in the last few time trials and also has been seen driving the team forward on stages,
he probably won't set the world on fire if he did enter the TDF, but has at least shown the right attitude.

Freddie Donnelly has all the skills of a Domestique, he is tireless on the flat and can keep riding seemingly forever, this skill could be very useful in the team game as he helps the leaders save energy.
Ivan Shermetev has similar skills that he could use consistently everyday of the tour, but he isn't quite as well rounded as Donnelly.

Lansvale

Lansvales weakness as always is hill stages. So you can forget them doing anything of note during the opening stages.
But I wouldn't say they were out of the contest at all.
As it turns out Lansvale have some very good mountain climbers!

The 3 way attack on the front should be equally led by:

Nicolas Pedersen, Giovani Bicicletta and Kang Xian Bin.

Normally Pedersen likes to attack on his own whilst the other 2 work together to climb the timesheets.
It would be a tough job to win the tour, but a top 5 overall is certainly possible with at least 2 of those 3
well in the top 20.

Outside of that, Lansvale also has a decent sprint team.
Artem Kraviz and Michael Chow should both be good for multiple top 5 results on flat stages.
Kraviz was the 2nd best sprinter in the Tour de Suisse (though a long way behind runaway winner)
Michael Chow has transformed into a gutsy sprinter and crowd favourite.

Lansvale have also had some decent successes from breakaways. Jean Velo especially is a leader in this department and is
a constant danger man in the 2nd half of the tour, despite not having any climbing skills at all.
Probably the 2nd best breakaway rider, behind Twining's Alex Harris.

Lansvale actually have a number of versatile (though not on hills!) riders and it would very much depend on what the team is aiming for before deciding who else to take.

On the sprinting front, Roberto di Magneta and Zsolt Gaumbartner are both great sprinters in their own right and could also help the other sprinters in the team.
Di Magneta has a higher top speed but Gaumbartner is better on the longer stages.

For breakaways, Lansvale have numerous challengers.
Naseef Aqeem is the spiritual team leader of Lansvale and is the leading points scorer in the team.
He can pull the team on the flat and also lead breakaways. Though his results on multistage tours haven't been as good as hoped.

Jean-Marie Van Fiets is a consistent breakaway challenger and good company for Jean Velo, he scores a multitude of mid-stage points, but only seem to do best with teammates with him.

Tamak Bisiklet can help other team members up mountains and is a decent time trialist and sprint support, he is versatile if unspectacular.
Jizidni Kolo is similar, but is better helping the team on long slogs rather than mountains.

David Lee is a rider that sometimes pops up at the front unexpected, other times he can be next to useless. His job is to help the team at the front of the peloton. but he sometimes struggle to keep up.

The other riders in the team are far from useless, but would struggle to be consistently up there over the 21 stages of the Tour.

Battery Energy

Battery Energy have been incredibly unlucky this season, they could and should have many more points then they currently have.
Amazingly their best placed rider is Anthony de Vries, who has scored just 44 points all year.

de Vries actually has a great chance of doing well in the TDF, he is great on the important Mountain and Hills surfaces and can make up alot of time on the time trials.
He does not have any good endurance/resistance/recovery stats which means he will need help from his team mates.

Fortunatly, if Battery Energy are good at anything, it is teamwork and mountain stages.

There are so many great climbers in teh squad it is going to be a hard job to decide who gets or not.

Jeroen Braams is a new rider to the squad, but has some excellent specialisations and would probably make a great reserve should de Vries not be up to the task of leader.

As for the heavy duty backup, you could pick nearly any combination of:

Jari-Matti Valanthi, Franco Rimolta, Stefan Muller, Fernando Sousa, Pedro Sousa, Olivier Ricard

Valanthi is the traditional team captain, Rimolta could be handy for the downhills, Muller is a great young talent and the Sousa brothers have shown excellent form on individual stages and timetrials.
Ricard is slightly a different prospect, as the other 5 mountain climbers all have ambition to lead, Ricard is much more of a team player, he isn't slower by any means.

Outside of the mountain ranges, Battery have a number of decent prospects.

Jan Ahlberg is a great shout for early race leader, his Prologue and sprint skills mean he will be fast out the blocks and unlike other similar styled riders, decent on the hills too.

Roberto Vasquez da Silva has shown great sprint form in recent tours and could certainly be a challenger.
Along with the teams official lead sprinter Ryan Nelson, the lightning Kiwi. Barry Firestone has shown he is no sloutch at sprinting either.

Battery also have numerous hill climb specialists that for whatever reason have had little success and also few chances.
Joakim Larrson, Takuma Masuhama, Johan Kelstrom are all realitively unknown but would certainly not disgrace on tour whilst Pavel Ranchek was one of Tiger Cycling leading stars.

Out of all of those Mashama's endurance on paper should be handy, though he has never done much in reality. Ranchek has expirience with other teams and should be ok.
Kelstrom should be good for breakaways and could pull off some results, same with Larrson.

There are so many strong riders in Battery Energy, but there is a shortage of riders that can help on the bread and butter flat stages, so any future signing should probably focus on this area.

In reality the only rider on the team that doesn't deserve a shot at the Tour is Simon Hill, and this is only because he prefers the Northern Classics, cobbles is a useless skill for the TDF!

Twinings' squad for the Tour de France will be:

Sven Johansson
Carl Kerr
Craig West
Alex Harris
Storm Danielsen
Janne Nordman
Jean Gauthier
Ivan Shermetev
Freddie Donnelly

Also, my team clearly does not understand the concept of sprinting. Davies, Venerdi, Miyamoto, Vasquez, and Gallard are all probably better off seeking employment with a team that does.

Alitalia Parmalat Bianchi are willing to help out any small Italian teams who want to enter the Tour with a compliment of our best riders who didn't make our own squad.

We have two packages available, both with top riders who are capable of great results;

Climbers Package
Claudio Castiglione
Timothee Voeckler
Pierro Saltamacchia
Przemyslaw Kolodziejczak

This team has Claudio Castiglione as it's main rider, someone who has had great results this season and is one of the top climbers on the Tour. Alongside him for support is Timothee Voeckler and Przemyslaw Kolodziejczak, but we all know a small team's best chance of success is in the break. Pierro Saltamacchia is a breakaway veteran, he'll fight tooth and nail to take a solo win for the team.

Sprinters Package
Vincenzo Mazzola
Gianni Marzano
Stef Flugshreiber
Juan Pablo Martinez

Mazzola and Marzano are two sprinters who are good enough to be in the mix for the green jersey with the right consistency. Backing them up as their lead-out train will be Stef Flugshreiber and Juan Pablo Martinez - the latter of which will also be handy in the Time Trials.

PCR team review

On recent form, you have to put Ricardo Lupo as the team leader.

Lupo dominated the Tour de Suisse and had all his rivals easily marked. Lupo rather underwhelmed on the Giro d'Italia though
so it may be wise to have strong backups.

Luckily PCR does have a number of riders to call on that are strong, if not consistent.

Brandon Plant managed 2nd place on the Giro D'italia warm up event, but come the big tour didn't deliver,
nor did he in the build up event here, but if he is on form. Plant could leap into the top 10 overall.

Daniel Martins had his stand out tour in the Criterium Dauphine. The time trial ace proved strong on the mountain stages too
and ended up with a great result, he would come in to the TDF brimming with confidence and could fly on the harder stages.

Bernard Jones was instrumental into the success of Lupo in the Tour de Suisse. The youngster came out of his shell and now ranks among the best mountain riders.
If he can't help Lupo to the win, he may easily claim a overall top 20 rider result himself.

On the sprint front, PCR have had some great results, especially in the early part of the year.

Wilson Ricky and Stefan Lomassonn between them dominated the early tours, if they can rekindle that success in the Tour de France, PCR's sprint team may be the best.
Ricky has more points and is potentially the fastest, but Lomasson is better on the long haul events.

Those 6 riders should make the cut.

There are 2 hill that have been worryingly inconsistent.

Jamie Carling was one of the stars of last year's TDF, the rider was as high as 2nd overall and held the young riders jersey for a long time.
Since then he has been frankly anonymous. Though he did show some form at the last tour. The truth is, he has yet to score a single top 5 stage result this year!

Sid Hatayuki has scored points, significantly more, he won the Liege-Bastogne-Liege. However outside of that he has done very little!
He could either star on the hills or fade into the background.

PCR should probably take some of their domestiques to the tour.
Norman Sumner is great on the flat and can carry a team downhill, he is also guaranteed to be race fit across every stage, helpful if not spectacular.

Kenta Nakimaka is great on the time trials and has some mountain experience, a team player not a team leader though.

Nelson Burbridge can lead from the front and could be a vital man over the donkey work of a stage.

Dougal Dalkeith can perform a few roles, he can help the team on the long haul, work as the lead out man for the sprinters and his main skill is time trials, so he might get a decent points haul.

Len Kozlvsky might be a safe bet to assist the sprint team. He is one of those first day nutcases that could
shock everyone and take the yellow jersey off the bat, but his sprinting skill would be the most valuable asset.
Darren Matthews is in a similar situation. Matthews will cope better on the longer stages and would be more useful as a backup, but less likely to score points himself.

Carlo Adjej styles himself a frontline sprinter, he hasn't got the results to back it up. He is a selfish individual, but if the stars align he could end up with some good results.

As for the others?
John Jaywick is better suited to one day events, despite being PCR's 2nd highest point scorer. The TDF is not for him.
Hugh Englemann has stamina, but will struggle to keep up if the pace is too fast.
Tomas Wojtyra will struggle with the long relentless stages.

Thanks for all the entries so far, currently it stands at 90 riders.

This is not enough for the Tour de France, I am hoping to run double that at around 180!
I also plan on starting the event by the weekend at the latest.

Currently there are exactly 9 unattached riders.

They will be taking part as 2 rival teams. "The Barbarians" and "The Raiders"

Barbarians:
Constant Lagg
Mitchell Starecase
Aleksandr Stefanovic
Martin Stenskt
Danilo Ceccon
Colours: Black and Grey

Raiders
Morgan Blosse
Andrei Garasimchuk
Takeru Watanabe
Jacques La Rossa
Colours: Red Bull Colours, Blue, Red, Yellow

Oh excellent!

You can either join the series full time or just for this tour.

If you are entering full time you must create a nine rider squad. If you just want to enter the Tour you can enter a guest team and enter 4 riders, including riders offered by other teams.

Regardless this is the template.

After re-reading most of the reports from this season, I'm sticking with virtually the same team as the Giro, with one exception. Daniel Morales after his good run at the Tour de Suisse gets the nod over a lacklustre Jerry Fletcher, who can watch from the sidelines alongside a hopeless Jorge Luis Hernandez who has completely failed to live up to his hype prior to last year's TdF. What a come down for him - team leader to not even on the sheet in just 12 months!

Hitachi's TdF line-up to make it two Grand Tours from two:
Hirohito Kamizaki
Daniel Morales
Claudio Bonotellio
Franceso Rossi

You can either join the series full time or just for this tour.

If you are entering full time you must create a nine rider squad. If you just want to enter the Tour you can enter a guest team and enter 4 riders, including riders offered by other teams.

In that case i will enter a full 9 rider team

Go ahead, I have 17 full time teams in total and could quite easily cope with over 20. :D

Yes, your team is in. Those jersey colours are quite hard to find in a mix.

This is the first jersey I found,(the green isn't as dark as I had hoped it would be) if you are unhappy with it I can change it. :)

Ok.

Team NSA

NSA have not 1 but 2 riders in the top 10 standings.

Alexey Volkov is something of a wonderkid, the 20 year old Russian has scored heavily in the last 2 tours (Giro and Tour de Suisse)
and could well be the lead man for NSA again.

Jason Melbourne is the other rider near the top of the yearly table. He won the Tour de Romandie, the build up to the Giro and he showed great form in the Criterium.
However Melbourne underachived at the Giro and will hope not to fall flat again, his stamina is what is to be tested.

Uno Sandberg is also a rider on the rise, a signing from the defunct CBR team, Sandberg was a constant at the top of the Giro and top 10 the Criterium.

Outside those 3 strong individuals, a support squad will need to be formed and this is where selection opens up.

Rafal Piotrowskis skill on the flat and mountain could be helpful for the team, his fighting spirit could also lead to glory for himself.

Pavel Gafurov is good on the hills and mountains but has little to offer outside his favourite surfaces.

Laurens Buivart is a rider that will keep going no matter what the conditions and could prove helpful on tricky stages.

Janice Edwards surprised everyone in a good way by holding on and helping the team in the last tour, the only woman on tour is not weak by any stretch.

David Clarkson is good on the flat and hills, but most of all a fighter that could prove entertaining to watch.

For getting a team up and down mountains, Moorighan Whitcombe is the man for the job.

Carey Brice has a multitude of skills that could be useful, downhill, recovery, endurance. He won't win anything himself, but is well placed to help those that can win.

Then there is sprinting. NSA haven't had the best of luck with sprinting but they do have some options.

Colin Thompson should have the ideal balance of endurance and speed for the punishing TDF sprints and Jase van der Boom is due a great result, his energy levels are high, perfect for the punishing tour.
Sadly there is little in the way of backing talent for them. Neither of them have scored points this year.
Frederickson is better for the one day events but certainly can work as a backup sprinter.
Alexandre Vache would be more useful for the team overall but question marks do hang over his sprinting ability.

Then there are the wildcards.
Wesley Duncan is well liked in the team and could take part in the early rush for the leaders jersey.
Randall Clarks often likes to battle at the front and maybe could be successful for once.

John Vonn may have some good results for NSA, but they were in the northern classics, there is no point taking him to the tour.

To summarise, only Volkov, Melbourne and Sandberg should get on the team by default, the other 6 are very much up in the air.

Well, maybe a more stand-out jersey would be good. Any chance of a lighter purple, but not too dark to look black?

Even though all the free agents are used in the TDF, I won't be allowing no signings for existing teams. So Burgstaller's entry can't be accepted.

All we are waiting for now is PCR's entry. We can start immediately after that, so if you want your jersey colours changed let me know ASAP.

Does that mean i cant add any more riders into my team, with being a new full time entry having a few more riders could help with selection in upcoming events especially as some exisiting teams have over 20 riders

Your best bet would be to sign a few of the existing free agents after the tour.

The only people left at Foster's from the first Tour are Ed Kevin and Klaus Fahrrad - everyone else got the boot and was replaced. Since then I've only created 3 riders, free agents are th ebst source of rider income for your team.

Word in the grapevine is one team will be withdrawing once the Tour is finished. So there will be plenty of riders available.
Whilst we wait for East Londoner and Performance and Cocktails to complete the entry, here is a preview of the 21 stage tour.

Stage 1. 6.1km Flat Time Trial
Stage 2. 195 KM Hill Stage
Stage 3. 206 KM Flat Stage
Stage 4. 197 KM Hill Stage
Stage 5. 214 KM Flat Stage
Stage 6. 196 KM Flat Stage
Stage 7. 210 KM Flat Stage
Stage 8. 198 KM Mountain Stage
Stage 9. 153 KM Hill Stage
Stage 10. 38 KM Flat Time Trial
Stage 11. 194 KM Mountain Stage
Stage 12. 144 KM Mountain Stage
Stage 13. 218 KM Flat Stage
Stage 14. 214 KM Flat Stage
Stage 15. 190 KM Mountain Stage
Stage 16. 158 KM Flat Stage
Stage 17. 197 KM Mountain Stage
Stage 18. 142 KM Mountain Stage
Stage 19. 215 KM Flat Stage
Stage 20. 52 KM Flat Time Trial
Stage 21. 131 KM Flat Stage

A tricky selection of events, where most the flat stages stretch over 200km meaning there will be little rest.
The tour opens up on the flat and hills before getting into the tricky mountain stages by the second half. By the Stage 20 time trial we will either have a parade or an intense battle for overall victory. The Final stage traditionally ends in a bunch sprint.

Last years winner, Yevegni Yurkov, Team CIP.
