Tch, FMecha, you've ruined the fun now.

If Mr Pentecost really had the speed gene, why isn't he already a racing driver of note, even on the amateur scene, I wonder? It reminds me of the film King Of Comedy - a comedian trying to go straight for a prime time television slot without ever working a club or honing his craft.

He is also trying to start a Christianity based racing team, bless his cotton socks:

I am attempting to acquire funding (and network connections) for a start-up Christian motorsport (ministry-related) team.

I hope so too... though I'm not sure that's possible while it's waiting moderation.

You just know this Don guy, when he inevitably gets ignored by the F1 community, won't say, "Well, I gave it my best shot, but I can see now that Formula 1 is really the place for massive corporations these days", he'll say, "I was treated disgracefully by the bigoted and blinkered F1 community, who didn't want their imagine challenged by a 59-year-old American Formula 1 champion racing for Christ".

Unless this guy has serious mental problems, there's no chance that he believes the message is actually from Coughlan. He's just using the opportunity it gives him to name-drop in order to spam everyone about his project/scam. Something funny would be to alert the real Mike Coughlan as to the existence of all this, and see his reaction.

FMecha you f***ing idiot, if real life Mike Coughlan decides he's absolutely furious that someone has done a parody of him and decides it was deliberate impersonation for malicious means, he can f***ing sue me. Don't go around making statements like that! While the intent was not of deliberate malice to deride him, rather to mock Mr Pentocost's stupid F1 team plan, if he decides to pursue a case in that direction I am so very screwed. I will find your address and send you the legal bill if it does come to that. Because that was just plain unnecessary and stupid. Don't you understand how these things work?

Hadn't thought of that. Identity theft I suppose?

Considering he did tweet pretty much every prominent figure in the paddock with that info, what you're worried about isn't totally outside the bounds of reality.

Overall, for a multitude of reasons, FMecha, that was a really, really stupid thing to do.

The question is, why did FMecha do what he did? Not only did he ruin a good laugh, but he's potentially led F1 Rejects up shite creek if word of this gets around. :? :|

Agreed, and I've had personal experience of something like this, having got caught up in an incident whilst at university which put some lecturers in a compromised position. My name was leaked by some grasser douchebag and I nearly got my university career finished midway through my first year! Fortunately I was able to convince the powers that be that all wasn't as it seemed, and I escaped with just an official warning, but this could be far more serious.

Not sure about identity theft, but defamation of character or somesuch is not out of the question, considering some of the comments (Xerox machine, FW34 blueprints, etc). I imagine Mike Coughlan wouldn't take such light-hearted ribbing very well. That said, if I were him I'd just want to leave Spygate in the past and just ignore the whole thing - if it does catch wind, it'll only be news for a day or two unless someone makes a big thing of it.

In fairness, if Coughlan sued me for defamation of character, I'd have Veritas on my side. He was proven to have copied Ferrari documents, he was part of Stefan GP for a brief period. For that, I'd win any court case, but it would be a massive inconvenience nonetheless if it did happen.

I'm messing, it should be fine. I mean, this Pentecost fella has no grounds to sue because technically, he has no assets relating to the 'F1 team' other than a website and 500 Twitter accounts. And a photograph of himself on a dirtbike.

I wouldn't imagine Coughlan would see it, as the tweets will get a) lost under mountains of other fans or b) be seen as the ravings of a crazed lunatic.

Who knows?
