Reject photos
Inspired by a couple of shots I just found on Flickr, I thought it would be an idea to have a thread in which we can draw attention to photos of Reject drivers and teams on this and other photo-sharing websites.
To begin with, two shots by "R1 Racer" from pre-qualifying for the 1990 Portuguese Grand Prix:
Claudio Langes, EuroBrun ER189
and
Bertrand Gachot, Coloni C3C (going fast enough to induce speed-blur )

Of course, since the background is also blurred, the photographer may just have moved the camera!

Or a conspiracy to make anyone who sees that picture believe that Coloni was actually fast at one point... >_>

Are the front wheels supposed to be cambered in at the top like that?

I think those are the brake disc refrigeration ducts.

Re: Reject photos
My goodness, that looks more spectacularly ugly than in any other photos I've seen. Not so much designed, more the result of giving an infant a piece of paper, a pen, a ruler and a set square.
Re: Reject photos
That comes close to making those oversized turbo cars of 1983/1984 look like works of art. Marlboro and yellow should NEVER go together.

Apart from on my overalls in that picture on the right, yes.

I've got a treat for you lovely people. A bloke I know (Chris) has scanned his old photos and he has some great photos of reject cars and drivers. These are in relatively low resolution. All of the photos were taken at Silverstone:

Re: Reject photos
Those pictures are the greatest collection I've ever seen. Just how high was the front of the Eurobrun in 89?! Loved the Forti one, I always liked that livery!! And a picture of the Life in all it's glory!!

Some of these are very rare. I've never seen that many photos of Foitek or Langes in the EuroBruns.

Mate seriously, if you have the time I'd love to see them too, as I'm sure everyone else would too. I've never seen an 89 Eurobrun before and that's only the secnd picture I've seen of the 89 Coloni.

Re: Reject photos
That one of the Forti in 1996 must be one of the last ever glimpses of the car on track, because if I remember correctly, they were only allowed a bare minimum of track time as their engines had no more mileage (never understood this term, could someone explain it. I assume it's something to do with engine life? )

Re: Reject photos
These photos are a real late Christmas present!
I don't think I've seen a picture of that 89 Eurobrun before either. One thing I noticed is that despite their lack of success, Eurobrun obviously attracted a fair bit of sponsorship as both cars have quite a few logos on. I enjoyed seeing Gregor Foitek twice, as he was extremely rubbish - the only memories I have of him actually racing in F1 involve Brabhams crashing mainly.

Re: Reject photos
i advise you to put your friend's name on the pics, because they're very interesting, and soon will be copied around the internets
i've seen this quite often on 1977 or 1978 cars, even 1976 cars if i remember correctly. Because at first, Lotus would like to believe it were only the skirts creating that ground effect, most teams weren't awere yet of how the tunnel system worked. The skirts did help slightly, but it was defenitely not enough.
