Firstly, Lausitz has been cancelled due to emergency track resurfacing at turn 1, which means Tropico will be our only NC race for this year. Secondly, there are several empty seats that need to be filled in the entry list here: http://f1rejects.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=211997#p211997. Finally, I'll be testing the new engines at Tropico, so teams will be running with their 2016 engines, not their 2015 engines for Marfield.

Where's FGCR on that list? :P

No there, obviously :P

You only got an F2RWRS entry after the entry list for Tropico was filled up.

Since I figured that five months was more than enough time for you guys to get your driver lineups sorted, I decided to open up the vacant driver spots to some of the guys over at the TMMC forum who have expressed interest in joining the RWRS so I can get Tropico done this weekend, as it'll probably be the last free weekend I'll have for a while yet. Performance wise, it won't make much of a difference as they'll get similar stats to some of their contemporaries on the grid, and some might be able to spring up a surprise or two.

2015 F2RWRS PDVSA Tropican Grand Prix
Qualifying

With the late withdrawal of MRT's star qualifier Joel Melrose on medical grounds, it was a titanic battle up front between Diego Alvarez Torrente, Jordan Davies and Marko Jantscher for the pole at the brand new Marfield circuit in Tropico. After the 20 minute session, it was Torrente on the pole for Dofasco ahead of Davies and Jantscher. MRT's American supersub David Frankham, one of five drivers brought in as part of the Tropican Tourist Board's promotional programs in the United States and Canada where teams will be given generous sums in exchange for running them, did a superb job to start P4 in the lead MRT. Of the other four drivers brought in under the scheme, 18 year old Canadian Paul Swanson was 8th for Aeroracing, the two Kingfishers of Americans Frank Hammond and Chris Winter 13th and 16th, and Canadian teenager Luc Pellerin 12th in the second Simpson car. The final major talking point was the debut of the new Ford engine, which is reportedly far more competitive than either Nathanael Cameron or Shane Walsh showed in qualifying, as both drivers got held up at crucial moments during the session, which meant that both will have a lot of work to do from the back of the grid.

1. D. Alvarez Torrente (Dofasco-Lancia): 1:05.697
2. J. Davies (Falik Arrows-BMW): +0.085
3. M. Jantscher (Beirao-BMW): +0.377

10. A. Dorval (Gillet-BMW): +0.612
11. A. Bianchi (MRT-BMW): +0.620
12. L. Pellerin (Simpson-BMW): +0.633
13. F. Hammond (Kingfisher-Holden): +0.656
14. C. Johnson (Red Bull-Aston Martin): +0.672

Honestly I wasn't expecting to be that quick, but I managed to get a really super quick lap and Diego only just beat me, which kinda sucks but I'm still super excited to be on the front row and I think I can win, especially if I can get a good start! :D

How the hell is Peter Port 6th? He's normally useless in qualifying.

1. Bah, it'll have to do. This race doesn't count for much and I'll probably end up redoing the stats afterwards anyway. :P

Indeed. Average drivers look good here because there aren't any Alitalia drivers present to beat them to a pulp. If the whole crew had rolled up in Tropico it'd be an AJS lockout of the front three rows (Greenlaw, Kremnicky, van Nieuwenhuijzen, Agyemang-Badu, Pazzini, Lamberigts).

I've finally decided to get off my lazy arse and post the results for Tropico:

1. L. Pellerin (Simpson-BMW): 1h 23m 12.921
2. D. Alvarez Torrente (Dofasco-Lancia): +5.599
3. C. Johnson (Red Bull-Aston Martin): +9.575
4. M. Jantscher (Beirao-BMW): +15.328
5. S. Prost (Red Bull-Aston Martin): +17.299
6. J. Davies (Falik Arrows-BMW): +37.513
7. A. Bianchi (MRT-BMW): +41.991
8. J. Antonio Soares (Beirao-BMW): +1:00.628
9. S. Walsh (Jones-Ford): +1:04.794
10. R. Simpson (Simpson-BMW): +1 LAP
11. R. Bulku (GRM-Holden): +1 LAP
12. N. Cameron (Jones-Ford): +1 LAP
13. F. Hammond (Kingfisher-Holden): +1 LAP
14. R. Dinella (Gillet-BMW): +2 LAPS
DNF. C. Winter (Kingfisher-Holden): Transmission
DNF. P. Port (Falik Arrows-BMW): Engine
DNF. D. Franklin (MRT-BMW): Accident
DNF. A. Dorval (Gillet-BMW): Accident
DNF. C. Samelko (Dofasco-Lancia): Puncture
DNF. D. Melville (GRM-Holden): Transmission
DNF. G. Pacer (Aeroracing-Lancia): Collision
DNF. P. Swanson (Aeroracing-Lancia): Suspension

Pole: D. Alvarez Torrente (Dofasco-Lancia): 1:05.697
Fastest Lap: S. Prost (Red Bull-Aston Martin): 1:06.231
Reject of the Race: Peter Port - Spent most of the race off track before an engine failure puts merciful end to his afternoon
Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race: The Tropican-funded Triplets (Luc Pellerin, Chris Winter, Dave Franklin) - TMMC invasion puts up competitive showing against the RWRS regulats.
Leaders: D. Alvarez Torrente: 1-19, 34-36, 50-51 (Total: 24)
J. Davies: 20 (Total: 1)
L. Pellerin: 21, 62-73 (Total: 13)
C. Winter: 22-27, 37-45, 52-61 (Total: 25)
D. Franklin: 28-33, 46-49 (Total: 10)

Long story short, everyone outside the top 5 finishers ran into trouble in one way or another, with their distance behind the leader directly correlated to how many problems they had. Except Dinella; he had the added bonus of just being plain shite

Of course, if you could make decent stats it wouldn't be a problem and Sammy Jones wouldn't be about to destroy his garage

And what happened to Bulku was the F2 Commission decided to replace him with some guy named Baulko against the will of GRM. The team (Zimmer) will be talking to (punching) Tom Douglas.

Unlike the qualifying stats, I actually made a half-decent effort of the race stats. Problem for Dinella was he spent all year getting his arse handed to him by Swerts. :P

What you have to remember is that for the first quarter of the year, Swerts was just as shite as Dinella, and for the last quarter, Dinella showed a marked improvement.

All it says is my decision to switch Hawkin to the IFRC is entirely justified.

That said, I've never tried to hide the fact that Dinella was only handed the F3RWRS drive thanks to his Lampre money, not his talent. ;)

Erm, not quite. The two Jones cars were marching their way through the field early on before they started getting punted off by the likes of Simpson and Soares. Their progress was especially impressive considering they both had enough fuel to fill a small oil tanker each.

I'm not talking about the car performance at all, just the drivers' stats that they are given.

Wow, a great result for both of my drivers!

I've taken huge gambles with both of their moves, and I'd love it if they manage to pay off. Love it.

Everything's great.
I'm not surprised about anything.

Simpson Motorsports would be interested in hiring Luc Pellerin for the 2016 season after his win in Tropico.
This is a cool spot.
