I think I found something of Isuzu V12 engine on action mounted on Lotus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN7Co7Rn2w4

The video and a rough translation from Japanese wiki of "Isuzu P799WE" matched each other:

"The shakedown was conducted at the test track of Lotus Cars on July 31 and August 2. Then start testing at Silverstone from August 6. 6 days 120km south course, 7 days and 150km run the full course. Because it was not equipped with the alternator for power generation, equipped with several battery to the vehicle body. The fastest lap of 102C was recorded is 1 minute and 30 seconds, was about 6 seconds behind of Ayrton Senna in the McLaren Honda, which has been tested on the same day."

Great reject material :D

I'm sure you've read this already but this was really illuminating for further background: http://dmanf1.blogspot.com/2014/12/isuz ... in-f1.html

I'm fascinated that even with the Lotus ties to Isuzu that they would consider a V12 engine after how disastrous the Lamborghini experience was in 1990. I guess the temptation of that extra power over a V8 was so intoxicating to designers but of course with the benefit of hindsight they would have been better off sticking with the V8 and focusing on their chassis or not falling behind the rest of the field in ABS or traction control

So what is Érik Comas up to these days? Driving a Lancia Stratos, very successfully, in ERC Historic rallying, that's what.

As a closet Comas fan, and someone who adores the Lancia Stratos, I quite enjoyed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWNYLtJYGZ4

That's pretty cool. I developed massive respect for him after reading his story of that day in 1994 in the 'Echoes Of Imola' book, and to be fair he was very rarely slow or embarrassing in the mostly poor cars he was given to drive.

You've seen early sixties Monaco on 70mm film, now behold modern day Elkhart Lake on Super 8!

And now for something completely different.

Red Bull gives you wings... Nile Red clips them.

Well... sort of. I reckon I could have done a better job, but I don't have my own lab and don't have access to anyone else's...

That was really interesting, and he has a good presenting style that made me want to watch the whole 27 minutes and not skip ahead.
