2015 Singapore Grand Prix

Code: Select all

 5 Valtteri Bottas   10 x 77 = 770
 6 Daniil Kvyat       8 x 26 = 208
 8 Max Verstappen     4 x 33 = 132
 1 Sebastian Vettel  25 x  5 = 125
 9 Carlos Sainz       2 x 55 = 110
 3 Kimi Raikkonen    15 x  7 = 105
 4 Nico Rosberg      12 x  6 =  72
 7 Sergio Perez       6 x 11 =  66
 2 Daniel Ricciardo  18 x  3 =  54
10 Felipe Nasr        1 x 12 =  12

So Lewis DNFs and doesn't score, but still a dominant points score win by Bottas, with Kvyat scoring strongly compared to the rest of the field. And Nasr scores small, but nonetheless makes the Constructors' Championship intriguing...

WDC

Code: Select all

 1  Lewis Hamilton   252 x 44 =  11088
 5  Valtteri Bottas  101 x 77 =   7777
 6  Felipe Massa      97 x 19 =   1843
 8  Daniil Kvyat      66 x 26 =   1716
 2  Nico Rosberg     211 x  6 =   1266
 3  Sebastian Vettel 203 x  5 =   1015
12  Max Verstappen    30 x 33 =    990
11  Nico Hulkenberg   30 x 27 =    810
 4  Kimi Räikkönen   107 x  7 =    749
16  Carlos Sainz Jr   11 x 55 =    605

Code: Select all

 9  Sergio Perez      39 x 11 =    429
10  Romain Grosjean   38 x  8 =    304
 7  Daniel Riccardo   73 x  3 =    219
13  Felipe Nasr       17 x 12 =    204
14  Pastor Maldonado  12 x 13 =    156
15  Fernando Alonso   11 x 14 =    154
18  Jenson Button      6 x 22 =    132
17  Marcus Ericsson    9 x  9 =     81

Lewis's DNF and Valterri's significant points haul (compared to the rest of the field) has little impacts here. Still obviously close between the Pastor and Alonso.

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes   11088 + 1266 = 12354
Williams    7777 + 1843 =  9620
Red Bull    1716 +  219 =  1935
Ferrari     1015 +  749 =  1764
Toro Rosso   990 +  605 =  1595
Force India  810 +  429 =  1239
Lotus        304 +  156 =   460
McLaren      154 +  132 =   286
Sauber       204 +   81 =   285

Only one point separates McLaren and Sauber! The points gaps between the teams from Red Bull down to Force India are spreading out a bit and does not seem to be as tight as it was a few rounds ago.

That points total is the greatest in the history of our sport. I'm weeping tears of pure joy over it. It's a glorious sight to behold. I'll pay praise and worship to this points total forever.
My friend's USB drive spoiled, spilled tea on her laptop and had a bird poo in her hand.

What did she do in her past life to deserve this?

Yes, I was rather pleased with that myself!

This championship this year is starting to bore me now.

2015 Japanese GP

Code: Select all

1 Lewis Hamilton    25 x 44 = 1100
5 Valtteri Bottas   10 x 77 =  770

8 Pastor Maldonado   4 x 13 =   52
7 Romain Grosjean    6 x  8 =   48

 1 Lewis Hamilton   277 x 44 = 12188
 5 Valtteri Bottas  111 x 77 =  8547
 6 Felipe Massa      97 x 19 =  1843
 8 Daniil Kvyat      66 x 26 =  1716
 2 Nico Rosberg     229 x  6 =  1374
 3 Sebastian Vettel 218 x  5 =  1090
12 Max Verstappen    32 x 33 =  1056
11 Nico Hulkenberg   38 x 27 =  1026

Code: Select all

 4 Kimi Raikkonen   119 x  7 =   833
15 Carlos Sainz      12 x 55 =   660
10 Sergio Perez      39 x 11 =   429
 9 Romain Grosjean   44 x  8 =   352
 7 Daniel Ricciardo  73 x  3 =   219
14 Pastor Maldonado  16 x 13 =   208
13 Felipe Nasr       17 x 12 =   204
16 Fernando Alonso   11 x 14 =   154
18 Jenson Button      6 x 22 =   132
17 Marcus Ericsson    9 x  9 =    81

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes   12188 + 1374 = 13562
Williams    8547 + 1843 = 10390
Red Bull    1716 +  219 =  1935
Ferrari     1090 +  833 =  1923
Toro Rosso  1056 +  660 =  1716
Force India 1026 +  429 =  1455
Lotus        352 +  208 =   560
McLaren      154 +  132 =   286
Sauber       204 +   81 =   285

Well, at least it's closing up again in the midfield?

And I have done this on the same day as the Grand Prix! Hurrah!

Russian GP 2015

Code: Select all

1  Lewis Hamilton    25 x 44 = 1100
5  Daniil Kvyat      10 x 26 =  260
4  Felipe Massa      12 x 19 =  228
3  Sergio Perez      15 x 11 =  165
6  Felipe Nasr        8 x 12 =   96
2  Sebastian Vettel  18 x  5 =   90
7  Pastor Maldonado   6 x 13 =   78
9  Jenson Button      2 x 22 =   44
10 Max Verstappen     1 x 33 =   33
8  Kimi Raikkonen     4 x  7 =   28

Damn you, Raikkonen. If Bottas had kept 3rd place, he would have outscored Lewis this race. By a whole... 55 points. Hmmm.

WDC

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton   302 x 44 = 13288
 5 Valtteri Bottas  111 x 77 =  8547
 6 Felipe Massa     109 x 19 =  2071
 7 Daniil Kvyat      76 x 26 =  1976
 3 Nico Rosberg     229 x  6 =  1374
 2 Sebastian Vettel 236 x  5 =  1180
12 Max Verstappen    33 x 33 =  1089
11 Nico Hulkenberg   38 x 27 =  1026
 4 Kimi Raikkonen   123 x  7 =   861
15 Carlos Sainz      12 x 55 =   660

Code: Select all

 9 Sergio Perez      54 x 11 =   594
10 Romain Grosjean   44 x  8 =   352
13 Felipe Nasr       25 x 12 =   300
14 Pastor Maldonado  22 x 13 =   286
 8 Daniel Ricciardo  73 x  3 =   219
18 Jenson Button      8 x 22 =   176
16 Fernando Alonso   11 x 14 =   154
17 Marcus Ericsson    9 x  9 =    81

Those 55 points won't really make a big difference in the grand scheme of things. But nevertheless, dammit, Kimi!

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes   13288 + 1374 = 14662
Williams    8547 + 2071 = 10618
Red Bull    1976 +  219 =  2195
Ferrari     1180 +  861 =  2041
Toro Rosso   660 + 1089 =  1749
Force India 1026 +  594 =  1620
Lotus        352 +  286 =   638
Sauber       300 +   81 =   381
McLaren      176 +  154 =   330

And Sauber move ahead of McLaren, where even a handful of points (or even your choice of car number! ;) ) can make all the difference.

American Grand Prix 2015

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton    25 x 44 = 1100
 4 Max Verstappen    12 x 33 =  396
 7 Carlos Sainz       6 x 55 =  330
 6 Jenson Button      8 x 22 =  176
 5 Sergio Perez      10 x 11 =  110
 2 Nico Rosberg      18 x  6 =  108
 3 Sebastian Vettel  15 x  5 =   75
 8 Pastor Maldonado   4 x 13 =   52
 9 Felipe Nasr        2 x 12 =   24
10 Daniel Ricciardo   1 x  3 =    3

Good race for the Toro Rosso drivers and Jenson Button. Lousy score for Ricciardo - must be one of the lowest all-time single-race scores in this series.

WDC

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton   327 x 44 = 14388
 5 Valtteri Bottas  111 x 77 =  8547
 6 Felipe Massa     109 x 19 =  2071
 7 Daniil Kvyat      76 x 26 =  1976
10 Max Verstappen    45 x 33 =  1485
 3 Nico Rosberg     247 x  6 =  1482
 2 Sebastian Vettel 251 x  5 =  1255
12 Nico Hülkenberg   38 x 27 =  1026

Code: Select all

15 Carlos Sainz      18 x 55 =   990
 4 Kimi Räikkönen   123 x  7 =   861
 9 Sergio Pérez      64 x 11 =   704
11 Romain Grosjean   44 x  8 =   352
16 Jenson Button     16 x 22 =   352
14 Pastor Maldonado  26 x 13 =   338
13 Felipe Nasr       27 x 12 =   324
 8 Daniel Ricciardo  74 x  3 =   222
17 Fernando Alonso   11 x 14 =   154
18 Marcus Ericsson    9 x  9 =    81

Initially thought it fascinating that Verstappen and Rosberg are separated by 3 points, then I noticed the points gap between Grosjean and Button. Order decided by actual championship order/real points scored.

If Bottas were to win the remaining 3 races, and Hamilton were to not score again, then... Hamilton would still be 66 points ahead, therefore Hamilton has this now sewn up.

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes    14388 + 1482 = 15870
Williams     8547 + 2071 = 10618
Toro Rosso   1485 +  990 =  2475
Red Bull     1976 +  222 =  2198
Ferrari      1255 +  861 =  2116
Force India  1026 +  704 =  1730
Lotus         352 +  338 =   690
McLaren       352 +  154 =   506
Sauber        324 +   81 =   405

McLaren are ahead of Sauber again, and getting close to Lotus. Still a battle between the Red Bull teams and Ferrari.

I seem to have forgotten to update after the penultimate round again, so here's the update for the last two rounds together...

Mexican GP 2015

Code: Select all

 3 Valtteri Bottas  15 x 77 =  1155
 2 Lewis Hamilton   18 x 44 =   792
 4 Daniil Kvyat     12 x 26 =   312
 7 Nico Hulkenberg   6 x 27 =   162
 6 Felipe Massa      8 x 19 =   152
 1 Nico Rosberg     25 x  6 =   150
 9 Max Verstappen    2 x 33 =    66
 8 Sergio Perez      4 x 11 =    44
 5 Daniel Ricciardo 10 x  3 =    30
10 Romain Grosjean   1 x  8 =     8

I was going to say that this was Valterri's first victory in a long time, but the last was merely in Singapore. Perhaps it's just a bit "too little, too late." And Hulkenberg, Massa and Rosberg all score a similar number of points.

Brazilian GP 2015 (assuming Massa's DSQ stands, which I hope it doesn't)

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton    18 x 44 = 792
 5 Valtteri Bottas   10 x 77 = 770
 6 Nico Hulkenberg    8 x 27 = 216
 7 Daniil Kvyat       6 x 26 = 156
 1 Nico Rosberg      25 x  6 = 150
 4 Kimi Raikkonen    12 x  7 =  84
 3 Sebastian Vettel  15 x  5 =  75
 9 Max Verstappen     2 x 33 =  66
 8 Romain Grosjean    4 x  8 =  32
10 Pastor Maldonado   1 x 13 =  13

Valterri ohh-so-nearly beats Lewis. But doesn't.

WDC Post-Brazil

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton   363 x 44 = 15972
 4 Valtteri Bottas  136 x 77 = 10472
 7 Daniil Kvyat      94 x 26 =  2444
 6 Felipe Massa     117 x 19 =  2223
 2 Nico Rosberg     297 x  6 =  1782
12 Max Verstappen    49 x 33 =  1617
10 Nico Hulkenberg   52 x 27 =  1404
 3 Sebastian Vettel 266 x  5 =  1330

Code: Select all

15 Carlos Sainz      18 x 55 =   990
 5 Kimi Raikkonen   135 x  7 =   945
 9 Sergio Perez      68 x 11 =   748
11 Romain Grosjean   49 x  8 =   392
16 Jenson Button     16 x 22 =   352
14 Pastor Maldonado  27 x 13 =   351
13 Felipe Nasr       27 x 12 =   324
 8 Daniel Ricciardo  84 x  3 =   252
17 Fernando Alonso   11 x 14 =   154
18 Marcus Ericsson    9 x  9 =    81

Jenson goes from being equal with points with one Lotus driver two rounds ago, to now being 1 point ahead of the other.

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes    15972 + 1782 = 17754
Williams    10472 + 2223 = 12695
Red Bull     2444 +  252 =  2696
Toro Rosso   1617 +  990 =  2607
Ferrari      1330 +  945 =  2275
Force India  1404 +  748 =  2152
Lotus         392 +  351 =   743
McLaren       352 +  154 =   506
Sauber        324 +   81 =   405

A rather close battle between 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. Force India are really closing in on Ferrari here. And which bull will be most fired up by the red rag in Abu Dhabi to end up victorious in this Austrian fizzy drink battle? We'll find out at the end of the month!

16 Jenson Button    16 x 22 =   352
14 Pastor Maldonado 27 x 13 =   351
13 Felipe Nasr      27 x 12 =   324
8 Daniel Ricciardo  92 x  3 =   276
17 Fernando Alonso  11 x 14 =   154
18 Marcus Ericsson   9 x  9 =    81

So Hammy scores just a few fewer points (in relative terms) than last year, but this would be the largest championship winning margin by quite some way, thanks to Bottas doing rather worse than last year in terms of points scored. A boring year at the top otherwise.

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes   16764 + 1932 = 18696
Williams   10472 + 2299 = 12771
Red Bull    2470 +  276 =  2746
Toro Rosso  1617 +  990 =  2607
Ferrari     1390 + 1050 =  2440
Force India  858 +  638 =  1496
Lotus        408 +  351 =   759
McLaren      352 +  154 =   506
Sauber       324 +   81 =   405

Well, at least Williams is promoted to second? Toro Rosso close to the parent team? McLaren manage to beat Sauber? Not earth-shattering levels of excitement by any means.

2016 Australian Grand Prix

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton     18 x 44 = 792
 8 Valtteri Bottas     4 x 77 = 308
 5 Felipe Massa       10 x 19 = 190
 7 Nico Hulkenberg     6 x 27 = 162
 1 Nico Rosberg       25 x  6 = 150
 9 Carlos Sainz        2 x 55 = 110
 3 Sebastian Vettel   15 x  5 =  75
 6 Romain Grosjean     8 x  8 =  64
 4 Daniel Ricciardo   12 x  3 =  36
10 Max Verstappen      1 x 33 =  33

So this is going to have the same results as the past few years, since this car number system was introduced. I obviously had the idea for this alternative championship long before this system was thought up, and I don't like it, but I am still curious to see what other random results come up. I just wish that, for this race, Grosjean had a significantly larger number - that would have given the sort of result I would have been looking for!

WDC

As above

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes    792 + 150 = 942
Williams    308 + 190 = 498
Force India             162
Toro Rosso  110 +  33 = 143
Ferrari                  75
Haas                     64
Red Bull                 36

Williams gain a position and Haas lose a position. But Toro Rosso and Force India gain three while Ferrari lose three positions. This again will appear to shadow the past two seasons, thanks to Hamilton and Bottas.

Bahraini Grand Prix 2016

Code: Select all

 3 Lewis Hamilton    15 x 44 = 660
 6 Max Verstappen     8 x 33 = 264
 7 Daniil Kvyat       6 x 26 = 156
 9 Valtteri Bottas    2 x 77 = 154
 1 Nico Rosberg      25 x  6 = 150
 2 Kimi Raikkonen    18 x  7 = 126
 5 Romain Grosjean   10 x  8 =  80
 8 Felipe Massa       4 x 19 =  76
10 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =  47
 4 Daniel Ricciardo  12 x  3 =  36

This alternative championship, when a different points system was in place, was designed to aid to backmarkers. Whether Haas really is a backmarker or not, we don't really know yet, but Grosjean hasn't benefitted from this as I would have intended. However, if it had been Gutierrez's car number, this would have been a podium result!

WDC

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton   33 x 44 = 1452
11 Valtteri Bottas   6 x 77 =  462
 1 Nico Rosberg     50 x  6 =  300
 8 Max Verstappen    9 x 33 =  297
 7 Felipe Massa     14 x 19 =  266
 9 Nico Hulkenberg   6 x 27 =  162
10 Daniil Kvyat      6 x 26 =  156
 5 Romain Grosjean  18 x  8 =  144
 4 Kimi Raikkonen   18 x  7 =  126
12 Carlos Sainz      2 x 55 =  110
 6 Sebastian Vettel 15 x  5 =   75
 3 Daniel Ricciardo 24 x  3 =   72
13 Stoffel Vandoorne 1 x 47 =   47

This will be one heck of a dull season for the championship. Bottas can keep second as long as the Williams can keep getting minor points consistently - how bad is this for an alternative championship!

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes    1452 + 300 = 1752
Williams     462 + 266 =  728
Toro Rosso   297 + 110 =  407
Red Bull     156 +  72 =  228
Ferrari      126 +  75 =  201
Force India               162
Haas                      144
McLaren                    47

McLaren remain in last place. Haas, as noted above, would have done better if Grosjean had his teammate's number (378 points).

Chinese Grand Prix 2016

Code: Select all

 3 Daniil Kvyat      15 x 26 = 390
 7 Lewis Hamilton     6 x 44 = 264
 6 Felipe Massa       8 x 19 = 152
 1 Nico Rosberg      25 x  6 = 150
 8 Max Verstappen     4 x 33 = 132
 9 Carlos Sainz       2 x 55 = 110
 2 Sebastian Vettel  18 x  5 =  90
10 Valtteri Bottas    1 x 77 =  77
 5 Kimi Raikkonen    10 x  7 =  70
 4 Daniel Ricciardo  12 x  3 =  36

A fairly low-scoring round, relative to many recent races. Mostly because Hamilton wasn't the highest scorer this time!

WDC

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton    39 x 44 = 1716
 7 Daniil Kvyat      21 x 26 =  546
10 Valtteri Bottas    7 x 77 =  539
 1 Nico Rosberg      75 x  6 =  450
 9 Max Verstappen    13 x 33 =  429
 6 Felipe Massa      22 x 19 =  418
12 Carlos Sainz       4 x 55 =  220
 5 Kimi Raikkonen    28 x  7 =  196
 4 Sebastian Vettel  33 x  5 =  165
11 Nico Hulkenberg    6 x 27 =  162
 8 Romain Grosjean   18 x  8 =  144
 3 Daniel Ricciardo  36 x  3 =  108
13 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47

This is the first time since after the Australian Grand Prix last year that Valterri Bottas has not been second in the championship (in that case, it was because of a DNS in the first race of the year due to a back injury).

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes   1716 + 450 = 2166
Williams    539 + 418 =  957
Red Bull    546 + 108 =  654
Toro Rosso  429 + 220 =  649
Ferrari     196 + 165 =  361
Force India              162
Haas                     144
McLaren                   47

Not really much to say here, other than Ferrari are not doing as well as expected here.

2016 Russian Grand Prix

Code: Select all

 4 Valtteri Bottas 12 x 77 = 924
 2 Lewis Hamilton  18 x 44 = 792
 5 Felipe Massa    10 x 19 = 190
 1 Nico Rosberg    25 x  6 = 150
 7 Kevin Magnussen  6 x 20 = 120
 6 Fernando Alonso  8 x 14 = 112
 3 Kimi Raikkonen  15 x  7 = 105
 8 Romain Grosjean  4 x  8 =  32
 9 Sergio Perez     2 x 11 =  22
10 Jenson Button    1 x 22 =  22

First highest score for Valterri Bottas since Singapore and Mexico last year. First time two drivers have scored the same number of points in the same races since Nicos Hulkenberg and Rosberg both scored 108 points in the Canadian Grand Prix last year.

WDC

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton    57 x 44 = 2508
 9 Valtteri Bottas   19 x 77 = 1463
 6 Felipe Massa      32 x 19 =  608
 1 Nico Rosberg     100 x  6 =  600
 8 Daniil Kvyat      21 x 26 =  546
10 Max Verstappen    13 x 33 =  429
 3 Kimi Raikkonen    43 x  7 =  301
14 Carlos Sainz       4 x 55 =  220
 7 Romain Grosjean   22 x  8 =  176
 5 Sebastian Vettel  33 x  5 =  165

Code: Select all

13 Nico Hulkenberg    6 x 27 =  162
12 Kevin Magnussen    6 x 20 =  120
11 Fernando Alonso    8 x 14 =  112
 4 Daniel Ricciardo  36 x  3 =  108
17 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47
15 Sergio Perez       2 x 11 =   22
16 Jenson Button      1 x 22 =   22

WCC

Code: Select all

Mercedes          2508 + 600 = 3108
Williams          1463 + 608 = 2071
Red Bull           546 + 108 =  654
Toro Rosso         429 + 220 =  640
Ferrari            301 + 165 =  466
Force India        162 +  22 =  184
McLaren       112 +  47 + 22 =  181
Haas                            176
Renault                         120

I was looking up the last time three drivers scored for the same team in the same season, and it actually happened quite frequently between 1993 and 2010 (McLaren even had four drivers score points for them in 2005...). Still doesn't really help McLaren much yet at this point in this year's championship.

2016 Spanish Grand Prix

Code: Select all

 1 Max Verstappen    25 x 33 = 825
 5 Valtteri Bottas   10 x 77 = 770
 6 Carlos Sainz       8 x 55 = 440
 2 Kimi Raikkonen    18 x  7 = 126
 8 Felipe Massa       4 x 19 =  76
 3 Sebastian Vettel  15 x  5 =  75
 7 Sergio Perez       6 x 11 =  66
 9 Jenson Button      2 x 22 =  44
 4 Daniel Ricciardo  12 x  3 =  36
10 Daniil Kvyat       1 x 26 =  26

A new winner in Max Verstappen. A good score for Valterri, trying to maximise as much as possible on Lewis's DNF.

WDC

Code: Select all

 3 Lewis Hamilton    57 x 44 = 2508
 8 Valtteri Bottas   29 x 77 = 2233
 6 Max Verstappen    38 x 33 = 1254
 7 Felipe Massa      36 x 19 =  684
11 Carlos Sainz      12 x 55 =  660
 1 Nico Rosberg     100 x  6 =  600
 9 Daniil Kvyat      22 x 26 =  572
 2 Kimi Raikkonen    61 x  7 =  427
 4 Sebastian Vettel  48 x  5 =  240

Code: Select all

10 Romain Grosjean   22 x  8 =  176
15 Nico Hulkenberg    6 x 27 =  162
 5 Daniel Ricciardo  48 x  3 =  144
14 Kevin Magnussen    6 x 20 =  120
12 Fernando Alonso    8 x 14 =  112
13 Sergio Perez       8 x 11 =   88
16 Jenson Button      3 x 22 =   66
17 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47

If Valterri had just finished a few places higher in the Spanish Grand Prix, he would have taken the championship lead. However, it is closed up a fair bit. But for how long? Max jumps from 6th to 3rd in this championship with that win.

I will update the WCC at some other point - it's too late tonight (what with having to wake up for work in the morning, and complicated slightly by a driver change).

 9 Nico Hulkenberg    2 x 27 =  54
10 Felipe Massa       1 x 19 =  19
 7 Daniel Ricciardo   6 x  3 =  18
Once again, Valterri scores higher than Lewis.

WDC

Code: Select all

 7 Valtteri Bottas   52 x 77 = 4004
 6 Max Verstappen    54 x 33 = 1782

 9 Felipe Massa      38 x 19 =  722
10 Daniil Kvyat      22 x 26 =  572
 4 Kimi Raikkonen    81 x  7 =  567
12 Nico Hulkenberg   20 x 27 =  540
 3 Sebastian Vettel  96 x  5 =  480
 8 Sergio Perez      39 x 11 =  429

Code: Select all

13 Fernando Alonso   18 x 14 =  252
 5 Daniel Ricciardo  78 x  3 =  234
11 Romain Grosjean   22 x  8 =  176
15 Kevin Magnussen    6 x 20 =  120
16 Jenson Button      5 x 22 =  110
17 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47

There is still over 1000 points between Lewis and Valterri, despite the Williams driver outscoring the three-pointed star driver over the last two rounds.

2016 Austrian Grand Prix

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton   25 x 44 = 1100
 2 Max Verstappen   18 x 33 =  594
 8 Carlos Sainz      4 x 55 =  220
 6 Jenson Button     8 x 22 =  176
 9 Valtteri Bottas   2 x 77 =  154
 3 Kimi Raikkonen   15 x  7 =  105
10 Pascal Wehrlein   1 x 94 =   94
 4 Nico Rosberg     12 x  6 =   72
 7 Romain Grosjean   6 x  8 =   48
 5 Daniel Ricciardo 10 x  3 =   30

Wehrlein is the 7th highest points scorer in Austria! Carlos Sainz gets a podium and Jenson Button just misses out on one here.

WDC

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton   142 x 44 = 6248
 7 Valtteri Bottas   54 x 77 = 4158
 6 Max Verstappen    72 x 33 = 2376
12 Carlos Sainz      22 x 55 = 1210
 1 Nico Rosberg     153 x  6 =  918
 9 Felipe Massa      38 x 19 =  722
 4 Kimi Raikkonen    96 x  7 =  672
11 Daniil Kvyat      22 x 26 =  572
13 Nico Hulkenberg   20 x 27 =  540
 3 Sebastian Vettel  96 x  5 =  480
 8 Sergio Perez      39 x 11 =  429

Code: Select all

15 Jenson Button     13 x 22 =  286
 5 Daniel Ricciardo  88 x  3 =  264
14 Fernando Alonso   18 x 14 =  252
10 Romain Grosjean   28 x  8 =  224
16 Kevin Magnussen    6 x 20 =  120
17 Pascal Wehrlein    1 x 94 =   94
18 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47

Wehrlein isn't last! And one more real-life point would put Manor ahead of Renault here, two more and they're ahead of Haas too! And I have only just realised how well former teammates Verstappen and Sainz are doing! Button is ahead of Alonso - :) .

Carlos Sainz always surprises me as this year's dark horse/underdog.

 1 Nico Rosberg     168 x  6 = 1008
 3 Kimi Raikkonen   106 x  7 =  742
 9 Felipe Massa      38 x 19 =  722
11 Nico Hulkenberg   26 x 27 =  702
13 Daniil Kvyat      23 x 26 =  598
 8 Sergio Perez      47 x 11 =  517

Code: Select all

 5 Sebastian Vettel  98 x  5 =  490
 4 Daniel Ricciardo 100 x  3 =  300
15 Jenson Button     13 x 22 =  286
14 Fernando Alonso   18 x 14 =  252
10 Romain Grosjean   28 x  8 =  224
16 Kevin Magnussen    6 x 20 =  120
17 Pascal Wehrlein    1 x 94 =   94
18 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47

Rather dull at the top as in not much change. Although Bull paddock teammates are still doing well.

WCC

I wanted to see what this looked like, but I can't be arsed to separate out Kyvat and Verstappen's points that they each scored for each of the Red Bull teams, so I've combined them. Makes it a bit more interesting as it turns out, as there is now a challenge between the paddock of Bulls and Team Willy.

Code: Select all

Mercedes                         7348 + 1008 = 8356
Red Bull/Toro Rosso 2970 + 1430 + 300 +  598 = 5298
Williams                         4158 +  722 = 4880
Ferrari                           742 +  490 = 1232
Force India                       702 +  517 = 1219
McLaren                     286 + 252 +   47 =  585
Haas                                            224
Renault                                         120
Manor                                            94

 2 Daniel Ricciardo  18 x  2 =   36
10 Sergio Perez       1 x 11 =   11

WDC

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton   217 x 44 = 9548
 7 Valtteri Bottas   58 x 77 = 4466
 6 Max Verstappen   115 x 33 = 3795
11 Carlos Sainz      30 x 55 = 1650
 2 Nico Rosberg     198 x  6 = 1188
10 Nico Hulkenberg   33 x 27 =  891
 4 Kimi Raikkonen   122 x  7 =  854
 9 Felipe Massa      38 x 19 =  722

Code: Select all

 5 Sebastian Vettel 120 x  5 =  600
14 Daniil Kvyat      23 x 26 =  598
 8 Sergio Perez      48 x 11 =  528
 3 Daniel Ricciardo 133 x  3 =  399
15 Jenson Button     17 x 22 =  374
13 Fernando Alonso   24 x 14 =  336
12 Romain Grosjean   28 x  8 =  224

17 Pascal Wehrlein    1 x 94 =   94
18 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =   47

With the way the current competitive order is, I wouldn't be surprised to see the young Max Verstappen gain 2nd place from Valterri Bottas soon after the summer break and hold it to the end of the season. And I am happy to see Jenson move ahead of Fernando Alonso in this championship.

20 Kevin Magnussen

Code: Select all

21 Esteban Gutierrez
22 Jenson Button
26 Daniil Kyvat
27 Nico Hulkenberg

44 Lewis Hamilton
47 Stoffel Vandoorne

Car numbers for the 2015 season

27 Nico Hulkenberg
28 Will Stevens
33 Max Verstappen
44 Lewis Hamilton
53 Alex Rossi
55 Carlos Sainz Jnr
77 Valterri Bottas
98 Roberto Merhi

LAST EDITED ON 4th APRIL 2016:

All car numbers used to date under current 2014-16 system

(1 Sebastian Vettel: 2014)
3 Daniel Ricciardo
4 Max Chilton
5 Sebastian Vettel
6 Nico Rosberg
7 Kimi Raikkonen
8 Romain Grosjean
9 Marcus Ericsson
10 Kamui Kobayashi

53 Alex Rossi
55 Carlos Sainz Jnr
77 Valterri Bottas
88 Rio Haryanto
94 Pascal Wehrlein
98 Roberto Merhi
99 Adrian Sutil

So, so far, all numbers from 1 to 14 have been used except for 2 (of course Vettel has legitimately used both 1 and 5, and Lewis could also have used 1 in 2015 and 2016). Plus all numbers from 19 to 28 have been used, except 23. And palindromic numbers have all gone, except 66. But multiples of 10 do not seem to be as popular.

Just added Esteban Ocon to the list at the top of this page, as I have just read in an Autosport article that he has chosen car number 31.

19 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =    47
17 Jolyon Palmer      1 x 30 =    30

To be honest, with Williams' fall-off in pace, I'm surprised that Verstappen is still behind Bottas. But then, Bottas did do a little better than Max in Malaysia...

I was really hoping that the battle between Bottas and Verstappen for second would be warming up now, but I am starting to think that Bottas is increasingly likely to be holding onto 2nd here ...

 1 Lewis Hamilton    25 x 44 = 1100
 4 Max Verstappen    12 x 33 =  396
 8 Valtteri Bottas    4 x 77 =  308
 7 Nico Hulkenberg    6 x 27 =  162

 3 Daniel Ricciardo  15 x  3 =   45
 9 Felipe Massa       2 x 19 =   38
10 Sergio Perez       1 x 11 =   11

Despite the post-race penalties, Verstappen still gets a second place here, a long way ahead of Vettel, who also remains just ahead of Daniel Ricciardo.

WDC

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton   330 x 44 = 14520
 8 Valtteri Bottas   85 x 77 =  6545
 6 Max Verstappen   177 x 33 =  5841
 1 Nico Rosberg     349 x  6 =  2094
12 Carlos Sainz      38 x 55 =  2090
 9 Nico Hulkenberg   60 x 27 =  1620
 5 Kimi Raikkonen   178 x  7 =  1246

Code: Select all

11 Felipe Massa      51 x 19 =   969
 4 Sebastian Vettel 187 x  5 =   935
 7 Sergio Perez      85 x 11 =   935
10 Fernando Alonso   52 x 14 =   728
 3 Daniel Ricciardo 242 x  3 =   726
14 Daniil Kvyat      25 x 26 =   650
15 Jenson Button     21 x 22 =   462
13 Romain Grosjean   29 x  8 =   232
16 Kevin Magnussen    7 x 20 =   140
18 Pascal Wehrlein    1 x 94 =    94
19 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =    47
17 Jolyon Palmer      1 x 30 =    30

Some close battles forming here, between Sainz and Rosberg, between Massa, Vettel and Perez, and between Alonso and Ricciardo. Verstappen could still challenge Bottas for third, but it looking increasingly unlikely. Here's hoping that either, or both, can challenge Hamilton for the title outright next year. These are the only two who seem capable of doing so in the near future, depending on the relative strengths of the teams next year.

 1 Nico Rosberg     367 x  6 =  2202
 9 Nico Hulkenberg   66 x 27 =  1782
 6 Kimi Raikkonen   178 x  7 =  1246
 7 Sergio Perez      97 x 11 =  1067

Code: Select all

 4 Sebastian Vettel 197 x  5 =   985
11 Felipe Massa      51 x 19 =   969
10 Fernando Alonso   53 x 14 =   742
 3 Daniel Ricciardo 246 x  3 =   738
14 Daniil Kvyat      25 x 26 =   650
15 Jenson Button     21 x 22 =   462
13 Romain Grosjean   29 x  8 =   232
16 Kevin Magnussen    7 x 20 =   140
19 Pascal Wehrlein    1 x 94 =    94
20 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =    47
18 Jolyon Palmer      1 x 30 =    30
17 Felipe Nasr        2 x 12 =    24

So it looks like the battle for second and third is going down to the final round after all!

2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Code: Select all

 1 Lewis Hamilton    25 x 44 = 1100
 2 Nico Rosberg      18 x  6 =  108
 3 Sebastian Vettel  15 x  5 =   75
 4 Max Verstappen    12 x 33 =  396
 5 Daniel Ricciardo  10 x  3 =   30
 6 Kimi Raikkonen     8 x  7 =   56
 7 Nico Hulkenberg    6 x 27 =  162
 8 Sergio Perez       4 x 11 =   44
 9 Felipe Massa       2 x 19 =   38
10 Fernando Alonso    1 x 14 =   14

WDC

Code: Select all

 2 Lewis Hamilton   380 x 44 = 16720
 5 Max Verstappen   204 x 33 =  6732
 8 Valtteri Bottas   85 x 77 =  6545
12 Carlos Sainz      46 x 55 =  2530
 1 Nico Rosberg     385 x  6 =  2310
 9 Nico Hulkenberg   72 x 27 =  1944
 6 Kimi Raikkonen   186 x  7 =  1302
 7 Sergio Perez     101 x 11 =  1111
 4 Sebastian Vettel 212 x  5 =  1060
11 Felipe Massa      53 x 19 =  1007

Code: Select all

 3 Daniel Ricciardo 256 x  3 =   768
10 Fernando Alonso   54 x 14 =   756
14 Daniil Kvyat      25 x 26 =   650
15 Jenson Button     21 x 22 =   462
13 Romain Grosjean   29 x  8 =   232
16 Kevin Magnussen    7 x 20 =   140
19 Pascal Wehrlein    1 x 94 =    94
20 Stoffel Vandoorne  1 x 47 =    47
18 Jolyon Palmer      1 x 30 =    30
17 Felipe Nasr        2 x 12 =    24

Verstappen FINALLY overalls Bottas's score. I thought he would do so much sooner, but no. Bottas only needed an 8th place today to remain ahead, but alas, it was not to be. I am loving Perez's score, and Massa is 1000 times what Bond is?

WCC

Calculated with the right points allocated to Red Bull and Torro Rosso.
So, after Russia, Kvyat had scored 546 points for Red Bull, and so scored 104 points for Toro Rosso.
Max Verstappen scored 429 points for Toro Rosso, and so scored 6303 for Red Bull...

Code: Select all

Mercedes    16720 + 2130       = 18850
Red Bull     6303 +  546 + 768 =  7617
Williams     6545 + 1007       =  7552
Toro Rosso   2530 +  429 + 104 =  3063
Force India  1944 + 1111       =  3055
Ferrari      1302 + 1060       =  2362
McLaren       756 +  462 +  47 =  1265
Haas          232              =   232
Renault       140 +   30       =   170
Manor          94              =    94
Sauber         24              =    24

Ended up very close between Toro Rosso and Force India, and between Red Bull and Williams. Pretty much every position counted in the end in those battles.

I made a try on how would this championship look with 1996-2013 numbering. Entry list as follows:

1 Hamilton
2 Rosberg
3 Vettel
4 Räikkönen
5 Bottas
6 Massa
7 Kvyat/Verstappen
8 Ricciardo
9 Perez
10 Hülkenberg
11 Magnussen
12 Palmer
14 Verstappen/Kvyat
15 Sainz
16 Nasr
17 Ericsson
18 Button
19 Alonso/Vandoorne
20 Wehrlein
21 Haryanto/Ocon
22 Grosjean
23 Gutierrez

Ricciardo 2048
Verstappen 1519 (1337 Red Bull, 182 Toro Rosso)
Alonso 1026
Perez 909
Rosberg 770
Räikkönen 744
Hülkenberg 720
Sainz 690
Grosjean 638
Vettel 636
Bottas 425
Hamilton 380
Button 378
Massa 318
Kvyat 203 (147 Red Bull, 56 Toro Rosso)
Magnussen 77
Nasr 32
Wehrlein 20
Vandoorne 19
Palmer 12

Numbers inside the team:
1. If both drivers continue, the one with more points in the previous year will have lower number
2. If only one of the drivers continue, he will have lower number with the exception of reigning champion arriving and other one staying (most recently happened in 2010)
3. If both are new drivers, one with more points previous year will have lower number
4. If neither drove previous year, more experienced driver gets lower number
5. If both are rookies, the one with black T-cam gets lower number

That's cool! When I started this, it was before the current car-number-for-the-whole-career, and it has made the current system dull and repetitive. At least, unless Lewis is in a less-competitive car...

Or he has a teammate with a car number which is 175% the amount of his own. :)

Car numbers for 2017 championship

Code: Select all

 2 Stoffel Vandoorne
 3 Daniel Ricciardo
 5 Sebastian Vettel
 7 Kimi Raikkonen
 8 Romain Grosjean
 9 Marcus Ericsson
11 Sergio Perez
14 Fernando Alonso
18 Lance Stroll
19 Felipe Massa
20 Kevin Magnussen

Code: Select all

26 Daniil Kyvat
27 Nico Hulkenberg
30 Jolyon Palmer
31 Esteban Ocon
33 Max Verstappen
44 Lewis Hamilton
55 Carlos Sainz Jnr
77 Valterri Bottas
94 Pascal Wehrlein

Likely to be a dominant championship for the three-pointed star, with Verstappen the only likely interloper, but with a distinct disadvantage. Williams are definitely going to take a big fall backwards away from Mercedes, while Ferrari are going to continue to look weak here.

McLaren will be hopeless this season. P10 is certainly theirs if Sauber and Wehrlein can score a few points.

Looks likely doesn't it? Especially if McLaren's main points scorer is not Alonso. ;-)

Williams     152       =  152
Force India   66 +  31 =   97
Renault
Sauber
McLaren

Almost certainly going to be a two-way race for this Drivers' title. And already the constructors' title is a foregone conclusion?????
