Bernie's medals alternative championships
Bernie's medals alternative championships
So, basically, i'm going to show what would have happened had the medals system been implemented for every championship.
Basis: the driver with the most wins takes it all, then with the most 2nd places, then 3rd places. In the event of another tie, points scored will be used as a tiebreaker, followed by further countback.
1950
1. Nino Farina (3 wins)
2. Juan Manuel Fangio (3 wins)
3. Johnnie Parsons (1 win)
4. Luigi Fagioli (4 2nds, 1 3rd)
5. Alberto Ascari (2 2nds*)
6. Bill Holland (1 2nd)
7. Dorino Serafini (1 2nd*)
8. Louis Rosier (2 3rds)
9. Peter Whitehead (1 3rd)
10. Louis Chiron (1 3rd)
11. Reg Parnell (1 3rd)
12. Mauri Rose (1 3rd)
Tiebreakers
1st-2nd: Points (Farina: 30 - Fangio: 27)
6th-7th: Points (Holland: 6 - Serafini: 3)
9th-12th: Countback (Whitehead: 1 7th - Chiron: 1 9th - Parnell: 1 Ret - Rose: nothing)
Notes
The number of (*)s denotes amount of shared drives for each position.
Discuss.

Re: Bernie's medals alternative championships
Wouldn't Nelson Piquet have lost all of his championships? 1982 would have to be the most interesting for this system.
I like the way Snrub thinks!

Re: Bernie's medals alternative championships
It doesn't really seem to be changing anything significant.
I guess that without extraordinary seasons the system doesn't really make a difference.

I just noticed, thanks.
I guess what's more interesting might be the battle behind the champion, or I could continue Bleu's idea with this system, maybe.

I´ve been watching every championship from 1985 to 2009 and there´re only a couple of them which would have been different.
Tread lightly in ARWS. Every decision might be your last.
