Kimi, go back to McLaren!

Post by CarlosFerreira »

Yes, I know the idea is far-fetched, but I was seeing some replays of the 2005 and 2006 seasons, and I miss Kimi in McLaren. He'd be the ideal team mate to Lewis: unimpressed and with a supreme Devil-may-care attitude. Also, unlike PR-specialist Hamilton, Kimi is completely incapable of answering anything other than "Yes" or "No" to any question, making for a refreshing style in McLaren's press conferences. And would, all along, be as fast as Lewis on track.

Seriously: the man is alone and unsupported in Ferrari, Alonso wants his seat and, probably, would prefer Massa as a team-mate.

Please, Kimi, go back to McLaren! :D

Kimi won't go back to McLaren, but he certainly had his best times there, more so than even his champ-winning year. He was handed some pretty rough and unreliable cars back Macca but still drove the wheels off them, and was unlucky not to get a championship whilst he was there. He definitely seems a bit lost now though, and he needs a new lease of life. Good on him for bringing that Ferrari home in Bahrain though.

Actually, the question of Alonso's move to Ferrari came up in the pre-race interview with Peter Windsor on the Australian broadcast. Windsor made it pretty clear that he felt the rumours were nothing more than the papazarri and tabloids, but he did mention it with Alonso some time before, and the Spaniard's response was "Actually I'd rather got to Brawn" (I think everyone does, Fernando).

Sure he does! But I don't think Brawn has the kind of money to pay for Alonso.

Kimi, despite his combative style still being there, is beginning to look like a fading star. Granted, pundits always said he didn't intend to stay around in F1 for too long. But I think McLaren were sad when he left, they did regard him as the next Hakkinen, and there's that feeling of unfulfilled destiny. Maybe I'm simply being silly, and it will never happen.

I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to take a pay cut if it meant getting his hands on a more competitive car.
