Yes, the Williams seatholder arrangement has been noted. Also, I really want to get out of 1996 so Samael Meerwick will be making a surprise return to fill out the grid (van der Maeyede took the first Jordan spot).

Prince Walik has driven the race of his life and he now leads the race by 4.7 seconds over Gio van Dycke who surged from 15th all the way up to second. Martin van der Maeyede has continued his good qualifying performance but he has completely lost touch with the leaders. Daniel Moreno and Barii Mori have both fallen back while James Davies has made up three spots from tenth. Patrese and Baroncelli collided on the first lap, sending both to the pits for repairs. Takagi and da Silva also collided and have dropped to the back of the pack.
