Following his driving ban for the 2017 Pacific Grands Prix, it has emerged that Dave Cassidy and Williams have managed to put aside their differences, and will be completing the rest of the season together. There is no word on what effect this will have on Cassidy's arrangements with Precision, or Cassidy's future beyond the end of the season.

The Generic Times wrote:SCANDAL! Caterham team principal ABUSES driver Kvyat after intra-team crash

In a SENSATIONAL turn of events, following a high profile BUST-UP between Caterham drivers Sebastian Vettel and Daniil Kvyat, it has emerged that the team principal of Caterham has literally SMASHED his anger home at Kvyat's crashing into Vettel.

The team principal LAID IN to Kvyat with his fists, clearly INFURIATED at ending lead driver Vettel's race. The RAGE on his face was clear for all witnesses to see.

When pressed for comment, Caterham flat out DENIED to comment on the incident, refuting to acknowledged it had even occured.

To add insult to injury, it is expected that Kvyat will have been SACKED by the British team, leaving the Russian driver looking for a new employer for the rest of the year.

The Monza weekend was filled with sadness, at least on Race II.
Kubica has been confirmed to be severely injured after a horrific accident. Footage can be found here. With such a nasty accident, we think he will out for at least the rest of the season.

There are other major news, incluiding Maldonado's injury for at least the European GP, as well as the ban of both of Ferrari drivers for the European GP, and the disqualification of Cassidy from the Italian GP.

We can't confirm replacements for any of these drivers yet, but its likely to be Matthieu Vaxiviere will replace Maldonado in Sauber, and Johnny Cecotto Jr. in Kubica's case, and its likely that we will see Einar Armannsson in one of the Ferrari cars.

There are also several rumors of the Russian GP being cancelled, info to comeout later.

Need replacement driver? I got a few that are free for the Sept 23/24 weekend!

Giovanni Roda - Will always pick up phonecalls from Maranello. Always.
John Bovy - He's got F1 experience. It was 5 years ago, but it's still experience :D
Benoit Voeckler - Because maybe you're into that kind of thing?

You want honesty? Fine.

Bourdais ran himself off track. There wasn't a scratch on my car after that race. He tried to do one move too many before the brake zone and ran wide. Now for Kubica, oh my goodness.

That was one of the stupidest moves I have ever seen. I have never seen someone actively watch a car ahead return to the circuit and think that it's a good idea to go where they are merging. This is what happens when you take one of Senna's quotes too seriously, you damn well nearly kill yourself.

Bourdais's ban? Fine. Kubica gets hit with instant karma. Fine. Me? I did nothing, and the FIA still have the malice to ban me. Since when was the Organising Body putting their own sport, their own money making venture, into direspute was a good idea huh?

Unbelieveable.

I could've come in regardless I guess, but by the time they got everything ready we'd have lost any hope of points anyway, so what would've even been the point?

I haven't seen the replay of the Kubica crash - hope he's okay, by the way - but as far as I'm concerned nobody forced Bourdais to rejoin right there and then. That said, I've lost a lot of respect for McKane today. A colleague's been injured, whether or not he could've done more is irrelevant right now. But of course, all he can care about is his own neck. The ass**** bought his ban right there and then.

Former Scuderia Alitalia operations manager and current Mediaset pundit Antonio Della Valle has hit out at post-race comments made by current Ferrari driver Nathan McKane, following a series of incidents that led to both Ferrari drivers being banned and Robert Kubica suffering serious injuries from an altercation with the Frenchman's Ferrari.

"This kind of comment is disrespectful to the sport, disrespectful to Robert, and most of all damaging to the prestigious Ferrari marque. La Scuderia is not in the habit of hiring petulant children. McKane must improve his attitude or he will be asked to leave. Nobody is bigger than the team."

Della Valle was shocked most of all at the timing of the comments, given Kubica's very serious injuries from the crash.

"You can perhaps say that Kubica did not place his car well, and this was a mistake by him, yes, but you do not kick a man in the balls when he is already on the floor writhing in pain, so to say. It's a disrespectful cheap shot. Kubica is a former world champion with La Scuderia, and deserves more respect than this from a current Ferrari employee."

"Perhaps being forced to sit on the bench for a while will wise him up. The tifosi will turn on him fast if he continues to behave with such disrespect."

Motorsport.com wrote:Hamilton to make Sensational Alt-F1 return?

As the fallout from the Italian Grand Prix starts to settle, rumours in the British media have placed reigning Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton as the front runner for the vacated Haas seat left by Robert Kubica. The Pole suffered a season-ending spinal injury at the second race at Monza, and with 6 weekends still to run, the team would be looking at a suitable replacement for the star driver.

While test driver Johnny Cecotto Jr has been named as an early favourite, it's becoming more and more likely that the team are looking at the proven quality of Hamilton, who entered an enforced sabbatical after a falling out with his former employers Williams. With the battle for 4th in the championship between Williams, Sauber and Haas heating up, and one of Hamilton's home races at Silverstone being the next event, it's expect that Gene Haas would make an announcement regarding Hamilton in the coming days.

www.formula1.com wrote:Shell Chemicals Russian Grands Prix Canceled

This evening, FOM confirmed that the Shell Chemicals Russian Grands Prix will not be happening this year. This is part of the agreement between F1 officials and the personnel of a number of F1 teams, who were threatening a strike at the European Grands Prix. The strike was threatened as a respond to the high-pressure schedule FOM forced on the teams this season, with the final seven weekends on three continents planned to be run within nine weeks.

Given as the temporary move to Autumn was already a high risk, due to the harsh climate in Irkutsk at the time of the race, Christian Horner was able to get an agreement for the temporary cancellation from the race promoters in Russia in exchange for an unspecified compensation. In the announcement, the race was guaranteed to return in 2018, with all tickets being valid for the next season, There has been no word on the sportive and financial implications of this development for the teams.

Autsport wrote:Alt-F1: Bottas to sub for Maldonado for European Grands Prix

After picking up an ankle injury after the Italian GP ll, Pastor Maldonado has not been cleared to compete in the upcoming European Grand Prix races. Sitting 6th in the driver's championship at present, the Sauber driver has outperformed team mate Simon Pagenaud all season, and enabled Sauber to take the fight to Williams for 4th in the constructor's championship. With his temporary loss potentially harming Sauber's quest, the team have moved quickly to find a replacement. Whilst paddock sources suggested that test driver Matthieu Vaxiviere would be driving the #7 for the European round, Autosport can confirm however that Sauber have signed ex-Precision driver Valtteri Bottas to cover for Maldonado. Bottas was relieved of his duties at Precision after the Great British round of the championship, despite performing solidly throughout the season at the point, even scoring a victory in his penultimate race with the team. With the Finn eager to impress for a seat in 2018, and with Precision's draft options having lapsed, the move was quietly agreed last night. A Sauber spokesman had this to say:

"It's a shame Pastor's not been medically cleared to compete this weekend, and whilst Simon is continuing to improve and bring in points, Pastor was our main weapon in the WCC fight between us, Williams and Haas. We knew that to keep the momentum up, we needed to find a top-calibre replacement. Valtteri fits our requirements perfectly. Indeed, we're still bemused as to why he was fired at all. Either way, we're happy to have him on board, even if it's only for this weekend, and we hope he and Simon will continue to bring in the points.".

Sauber currently sit 5th in the constructors championship, just 12 points behind Williams, after the team were docked more constructors points after Dave Cassidy was disqualified from the Italian GP ll for not undertaking the second mandatory pitstop.

Autosport wrote:Martel: Vettel performance "legendary"

Caterham team principal Edouard Martel was effusive in his praise for Sebastian Vettel as the German driver secured his first world championship in the first race of the 2017 Spanish Grands Prix.

Vettel has dominated the season thus far, breaking records for most consecutive points-scoring finishes in a single season, most podium finishes in a single season, most race victories in a season and most points scored in a season.

"It's difficult to adequately articulate precisely the magnitude of Sebastian's achievement this year, perhaps even impossible to articulate," said Martel, in a press conference after the race. "I think 'legendary' comes to mind immediately; he's truly established his legacy in this sport of ours, he's truly established himself as one of the all-time great drivers, and the team could not be any prouder of or happier for him."

Local Drivers

Post by Klon »

From 2017 on, this new feature will come into play for the final four race weekends of the season.

With it, three of the five teams with either the least amount of money or worst WCC position (excluding teams which have changed hands mid-season) may boost their finances by hiring a driver from one of the four nations the final weekends take place in. A driver hired this way will bring in €10,000,000 (with all costs for replacing drivers and minimum wage accounted for).

The following teams are eligible for a local pay driver in the 2017 season:
Calinetic
DGN
Peugeot
Red Bull
Valerian

These are the countries which hold the final four weekends of the season
United Arab Emirates
Russia
Brazil
China

Each of the teams is entitled to try to sign one of two drivers and the gods of RNG decide in case of a real-life driver and the users decide for their fictional drivers. Please fill out this until Wednesday, April 22 (5:00 p.m. CEST) and post it in this thread or inform me through the chat or forum private messages that you do not wish to make use of local pay drivers.

Please note that you may not replace the driver that is responsible for bringing in your team's main sponsorship. In case of all teams choosing to make that offer, the three teams with the least amount of money will be given preference. It must be noted that teams already running a driver from one of the four countries do not get additional sponsorship, they must also hire a specific local pay driver.
