Damon Cannon wrote:Not after my qualifying performance and my first lap did I think I would end winning back to back races. I suffered a puncture in the first lap after coming into contact with Christopherson's front wing, dropping me to last place on 3 tyres. It was lucky though that the heavens opened with force just as I entered the pits, meaning I could change to wets, as well as witness virtually everyone else slide off in front of me. The only scary part was a monster crash on the back straight on lap 33 involving my team mate and Krautmier's Prost, where Krautmier was unsighted and ploughed into the back of Older Jr coming to the end of the straight. I was behind trying to lap them when all of a sudden I could only see wreckage around me. Thank God both were alright. This win means I'm now right in the fight for the title with Melrose, Douglas Mann and Zapatero.

I saw the McLarens and Hughes darting left, right and centre off the start and I went for the only gap I saw. Unfortunatly there was Zapatero's stricken Ferrari in that gap which meant our races were over within seconds of the start. To be honest we were lucky to keep the lead in the championship but we will do everything we can do (within the rules and spirit of fair play of course) to win this championship.

Damon Cannon wrote: I didn't get the best of starts, but that worked to my advantage due to the traffic jam in front of me caused by the remains of Melrose and Zapatero's cars, which allowed me to take several places. Other than that, it was a quiet race for me, the Yamaha engine not having the legs of the Renault powered Williams in front of me, meaning I could not hold on to Mann. Another point score is welcome, especially with two title contenders out right at the start.

The rain near the end was unnerving to say the least as I've never been the best wet weather driver and Douglas put up an almightly fight near the end. I thought he was going to get me at the end since he got the better run out of the chicane but I'm guessing he must have missed a gear or something like that.

I spent much of the race fighting with Thomas De Bock and Hagane Shizuka, until they collided at the chicane putting Thomas out and dropping Hagane down the field. It is extremely tight though at the top, with both Daniel and Douglas on the podium. Bring on the second half of the season I say!
