I'd totally forgotten that F1 '97 didn't get the rights to use Villenueve's name in-game.
I coined the term "Lewisteria". The irony is that I actually quite like Lewis Hamilton.

Good work, if you like F1 sims, you should get yourself a copy of F1 Challenge 99-02, there's a serious amount of mods out there for it (I'm sure there's a '97 mod, or a '98 mod if you'd prefer Shinji in a Minardi).

The live commentary from the US, UK, Spain, and Japan. Steve Matchett practically looses his mind here.

I for one am not impressed by his performance simply because damage and failures were off. But then again I'm just being critical because I can beat Michael Shumacher in the Ferrari on hardest difficulty and 2001 performance levels driving a Jordan on GP4 :P (I mean seriously I was eating into him at around 7 tenths a lap near the end)

That's not me - that's just some random video that came up when I searched 'Shinji Nakano'.

My YT is http://www.youtube.com/user/edkev94
Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.

The Spanish commentators sound so dejected!
The US commentators are the best, much better than Brundle & Allen/Legard

Also good to notice the difference between how James Allen sees it, and how the rest of the world did. :P

USA: Sato passed Alonso!!
Japan: Takuma passed Alonso!!
Spain: Dammit, Sato passed Alonso!
UK: Alonso let him through!

Footworks had quite good pace then especially in the 2nd half of the season. 14 out of 16 in top 11. Reliability problems and crashes (like in Monza) caused them not to score too much points. Warwick had four and Suzuki none.

That footage is just brilliant. That's the first time I've ever seen the Coloni-Subaru in what passes for action (it even LOOKS horribly slow!) and the general 'can't be arsed' attitude all round is just brilliant, from the guy waving the chequered flag who would clealry rather be in bed, to the Eurosport caption that says 'Pre-Qualifing'!!!

Mind you, this does show that Eurosport covered F1 much better than the Beeb at this time, where we'd never have seen Pre-Qualifying footage in a million years.

At about 7:50 of that Nurburgring video you can see one car stopped at the chicane. Only real option from the race results is Montermini in the other Pacific.
