I knew he was their test driver in 1995, and even substituted for Katayama once, but that looks like the 1994 Tyrrell.

I'm guessing late 2011.
I believe it was at one of the last World Series by Renault meetings of last year.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all those who have posted these great photo's.
I'm loving them especially stuff like the 1986 Osella. To me that looks to be massive (a bit like an F1 verison of an US muscle car) in comparsion to other 1986 F1 cars. The chassis also looks to be quite outdated, as well, in comparsion to most other 1986 F1 cars.
So this got me wondering, does anyone know what is the oldest chassis an F1 team has attempted to qualify in a race was. Off the top of my head I would have thought it to have been the 2006 Super Aguri, which IIRC was just a 2002 Arrows (A23 I think?) with a different paint job.

The ERA A-Type was 16 years old in 1950 when Bob Gerard entered it at Monaco...

Thanks for your response, tommykl.
That kinda reminds me of a story I read in a book called Grand Prix Sabotuers by Joe Saward. At the first motor race held in Paris, after WW2, IIRC all the cars entered were pre WW2 machines that had been hidden during the war in farmyard barns, etc. Anyway, one of the drivers (can't remember who it was off the top of my head), found he couldn't restart his car when he wanted to enter into this race. The reason being, was he found Rat droppings in somewhere like the exhast pipes.
So all the other drivers all jokely nicknamed this particular driver 'Rat Droppings' (or a word with a the same meaning as 'droppings', but sounds very simliar to 'hit'). Thereafter his nickname forever followed him. So much so that when he retired & decided to open up a resturant, he named it after his nickname that he became famous for.

Actually another thing has poped into my mind, which i'll ask here since, I don't know of another thread that would be relevant for it. Does anyone know if one could / can still buy off ebay, team wear (i.e. caps, jackets or T - shirts etc) or any of our beloved reject teams featured here. How I would love to wear an 1986 Osella jacket to a GP!
If it is not possible to buy presumable you would have to 'get it made' yourself then? (I assume copyright wouldn't be an issue anymore, since the team doesn't exist?)

This is about as close as you'll get without hunting down all the reject team gear on eBay, which will probably take years.

That was Maurice Trintignant, also known as "Le Petoulet" after the above incident.

The reject who never was! If only the FIA had granted him a superlicence, who knows what reject goodness he could have produced. Something on the levels of Deletraz?
I don't think he's the father of $akon though...

According to Driversdb, Katsumi Yamamoto is 37 years old at now, too young to be Sakon's father.
I don't know if they are related, but I think that Yamamoto is a common surname in Japan.

So he's not too young to make a comeback (sort of).

Just found
this website - click on "FORMULA 1" and there's a huge archive from 1986 to the present, including many rejects, e.g.
Taki Inoue, 1995 Belgian Grand Prix

What a goldmine.
So, which reject team forgot to build a complete car at the Hungaroring in 1988? And which non-reject team tried to enhance their normally-aspirated heap of junk with the crudest airbox ever built, that made their very wrong car even more wrong? Find out on this website!

It's an ugly-arse lump isn't it? The early Hart turbos were well dodgy.

It amazes me how so different each car looks in the same year. Minardi to Zakspeed to March, all completely different bodies. Wish they could do that in today's F1.
