Round 14: Singapore

The McLaren renaissance continues as Lewis Hamilton grabs yet another session win. Jenson Button will be pleased with second, taking the championship lead as neither Rubens nor Sebastian can go higher than sixth. BMW Sauber returns to the points after not scoring in Italy.

Result: L. Hamilton - J. Button - K. Räikkönen - N. Heidfeld - N. Rosberg - R. Barrichello - S. Vettel - H. Kovalainen

Nico Rosberg shows that he likes this venue by taking a much needed win for Williams-Toyota. Meanwhile, Vettel immediately reclaims his championship lead as Button embarrassingly fails to advance past Q2. Red Bull making up a lot of ground in the WCC as well.

Result: N. Rosberg - M. Webber - S. Vettel - L. Hamilton - T. Glock - F. Alonso - R. Barrichello - R. Kubica

Singapore Q3 demonstrates just how far the two McLaren drivers are apart in terms of skill level: Hamilton secures 10 points, Kovalainen does not score at all. Great results for Nico Rosberg and Red Bull Racing as well. Alonso impressive after last year's debacle.

Round 15: Japan

Sebastian Vettel is looking for his first world's title and he is showcasing his power in Q1 at Suzuka. By taking the 10 points, he ends Hamilton's mathematical chance and puts the pressure on Brawn. Buemi impresses, scoring points for fifth place.

Result: S. Vettel - L. Hamilton - J. Button - J. Trulli - S. Buemi - K. Räikkönen - R. Barrichello - N. Rosberg

Q2 is overshadowed by a severe crash from Timo Glock. However, the championship holds for no man and Sebastian Vettel goes back-to-back, furthermore extending his lead. Adrian Sutil and Sebastien Buemi impress, whilst Trulli lifts Toyota's spirit with 3rd.

Result: S. Vettel - L. Hamilton - J. Trulli - J. Button - K. Räikkönen - R. Barrichello - S. Buemi - A. Sutil

Even though he only won by 0.060 seconds, Vettel takes his third win in a row, clearly putting some space between himself and the competition. Adrian Sutil amazes with a great fourth place whilst Kimi Räikkönen scores in all three sessions.

Round 16: Brazil

Wet weather is the order of the day and it plays in the card of all the fans desiring a close championship fight, as Vettel fails to advance to Q2. Unlikely stars emerge meanwhile, as Williams get a 1-4 and rookie drivers Kamui Kobayashi and Romain Grosjean score.

Result: N. Rosberg - K. Räikkönen - R. Kubica - K. Nakajima - R. Barrichello - J. Button - K. Kobayashi - R. Grosjean

After seeing one championship contender eliminated in Q1, we were witness to Button's failure to advance to Q3. Meanwhile, Williams dominated the session. Could their good rain performance at Interlagos be a trend? Buemi continues his great run in the final sessions of the year.

Result: N. Rosberg - K. Nakajima - J. Trulli - S. Buemi - A. Sutil - M. Webber - R. Kubica - K. Räikkönen

Rubens Barrichello has an open goal in his championship fight and he uses it, taking 10 points in Q3, much to the delight of the local fans. Adrian Sutil with an amazing third place whilst Robert Kubica, Kimi Räikkönen and Nico Rosberg score in all three sessions.

Result: R. Barrichello - M. Webber - A. Sutil - J. Trulli - K. Räikkönen - S. Buemi - N. Rosberg - R. Kubica

Championship standings after Brazil (drivers):

Round 17: Abu Dhabi

A new venue is ready to host this championship showdown. Sebastian Vettel has the edge, but he is not safely home yet. Both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello outperform him in Q1; a BMW double points finish and Renault's failure to advance means that BMW can't finish lower than 8th.

Result: L. Hamilton - J. Button - J. Trulli - R. Kubica - N. Heidfeld - R. Barrichello - S. Vettel - M. Webber

Sebastian Vettel secures the world title by finishing second in Q2, behind a supreme Lewis Hamilton. However, Brawn GP do enough to become the first non-Ferrari champions in this format. Buemi impresses more and more, well outperforming his STR rival.

Result: L. Hamilton - S. Vettel - J. Button - M. Webber - J. Trulli - R. Barrichello - S. Buemi - R. Kubica

With an all-out brawl to close out the season, Lewis Hamilton sweeps the first Abu Dhabi qualifying session. Rubens Barrichello does enough to decide the ultra-tight Brawn battle by countback, whilst BMW Sauber in their final entry barely fail to beat Force India.

Result: L. Hamilton - S. Vettel - M. Webber - R. Barrichello - J. Button - J. Trulli - R. Kubica - N. Heidfeld

The Q1-Q2-Q3 Alternative Championship

Post by Klon »

I updated the original post to include past champions. If one of the mods could move their lazy ass to move this thread back to the active ones, that'd be grand.

2010 Formula One season
Round 1: Bahrain

It is a new era in the sport. The top 10 earn points, there are three new teams and many drivers have switched jobs. We begin this era at the Bahrain International Circuit and we begin it with Fernando Alonso, who earns 25 points in his first drive for Ferrari.

Result: F. Alonso - S. Vettel - A. Sutil - M. Webber - F. Massa - L. Hamilton - N. Rosberg - R. Kubica - M. Schumacher - V. Liuzzi

Q1 teased a Red Bull-Ferrari war and indeed these two teams unify to take the first four places. Only one of the Force Indias make the third session, but both Mercedes GP cars (the team formerly known as Brawn) are in Q3 as well as both McLarens.

Result: S. Vettel - F. Alonso - M. Webber - F. Massa - N. Rosberg - L. Hamilton - R. Kubica - A. Sutil - M. Schumacher - J. Button

From this season on, there is no extra fuel in Q3, which will reward the fastest cars on the grid. Ferrari were looking for a great start with 25 points in Q3, but Vettel manages to deny them. Schumacher achieves P7 in Q3 on his comeback, Lewis Hamilton beats his new teammate three times.

Result: S. Vettel - F. Massa - F. Alonso - L. Hamilton - N. Rosberg - M. Webber - M. Schumacher - J. Button - R. Kubica - A. Sutil

Championship standings after Bahrain (drivers):
1.: S. Vettel - Red Bull-Renault - 68 Pts.
2.: F. Alonso - Ferrari - 58 Pts.
3.: F. Massa - Ferrari - 50 Pts.
4.: M. Webber - Red Bull-Renault - 35 Pts.
5.: L. Hamilton - McLaren-Mercedes - 28 Pts.
6.: N. Rosberg - Mercedes - 26 Pts.
7.: A. Sutil - Force India-Mercedes - 20 Pts.
8.: R. Kubica - Renault - 12 Pts.
9.: M. Schumacher - Mercedes - 10 Pts.
10.: J. Button - McLaren-Mercedes - 5 Pts.
11.: V. Liuzzi - Force India-Mercedes - 1 Pt.

Championship standings after Bahrain (teams):
1.: Ferrari - 108 Pts.
2.: Red Bull-Renault - 103 Pts.
3.: Mercedes - 36 Pts.
4.: McLaren-Mercedes - 33 Pts.
5.: Force India-Mercedes - 21 Pts.
6.: Renault - 12 Pts.

Round 2: Australia

Australia sees the continued great performance by Sebastian Vettel, who takes the win in Q1. Jenson Button needed to improve after a poor Bahrain effort and he clearly manages to do so, taking third in Q1. No driver who hadn't scored in Bahrain managed to make the top 10.

Result: S. Vettel - N. Rosberg - J. Button - L. Hamilton - F. Alonso - M. Webber - M. Schumacher - A. Sutil - F. Massa - R. Kubica

Red Bull's winning streak extends to four sessions, this time Mark Webber is there to take P2 and give Red Bull their first 1-2 of the season. Fernando Alonso is only a tenth behind, he will hope he can strike in Q3. Rubens Barrichello and Williams score their first points.

Result: S. Vettel - M. Webber - F. Alonso - J. Button - N. Rosberg - M. Schumacher - F. Massa - A. Sutil - R. Barrichello - R. Kubica

If the last session and Q3 are any indication, this season will be Red Bull vs. Alonso. Nobody else managed to be within 0.75 seconds of Vettel, who takes the full 75 points available this weekend. Button takes advantage of Hamilton's poor performance to close the intra-team fight.

Result: S. Vettel - M. Webber - F. Alonso - J. Button - F. Massa - N. Rosberg - M. Schumacher - R. Barrichello - R. Kubica - A. Sutil

Championship standings after Australia (drivers):
1.: S. Vettel - Red Bull-Renault - 143 Pts.
2.: F. Alonso - Ferrari - 98 Pts.
3.: M. Webber - Red Bull-Renault - 79 Pts.
4.: F. Massa - Ferrari - 68 Pts.
5.: N. Rosberg - Mercedes - 62 Pts.
6.: J. Button - McLaren-Mercedes - 44 Pts.
7.: L. Hamilton - McLaren-Mercedes - 40 Pts.
8.: M. Schumacher - Mercedes - 30 Pts.
9.: A. Sutil - Force India-Mercedes - 29 Pts.
10.: R. Kubica - Renault - 16 Pts.
11.: R. Barrichello - Williams-Cosworth - 6 Pts.
12.: V. Liuzzi - Force India-Mercedes - 1 Pt.

Championship standings after Australia (teams):
1.: Red Bull-Renault - 222 Pts.
2.: Ferrari - 157 Pts.
3.: Mercedes - 92 Pts.
4.: McLaren-Mercedes - 84 Pts.
5.: Force India-Mercedes - 30 Pts.
6.: Renault - 16 Pts.
7.: Williams-Cosworth - 6 Pts.

Round 3: Malaysia

The weather is always an essential part of any motorsport in Malaysia, and Q1 is no exception. The rain gives many drivers a shot to improve on their normal performance. Robert Kubica, Pedro de la Rosa and Vitaly Petrov were certainly able to do that.

Result: R. Kubica - P. de la Rosa - S. Vettel - V. Petrov - K. Kobayashi - J. Alguersuari - S. Buemi - A. Sutil - N. Hülkenberg - V. Liuzzi

Sebastian Vettel was clearly offended by Red Bull's winning streak ending. He pulled out a masterful lap to win Q2 ahead of Kubica. Disappointment for Toro Rosso, neither driver could build on their top 10 finish in Q1. An amazing Q2 for Sutil earns him third.

Result: S. Vettel - R. Kubica - A. Sutil - N. Hülkenberg - N. Rosberg - K. Kobayashi - M. Webber - V. Liuzzi - R. Barrichello - M. Schumacher

Mark Webber's inspired call for intermediates gave him the win in the final session of the day. Behind him, a German quartet adds a lot of points in a hypothetical nation's cup. Williams will be especially happy, 5-7 is a good result.

Result: M. Webber - N. Rosberg - S. Vettel - A. Sutil - N. Hülkenberg - R. Kubica - R. Barrichello - M. Schumacher - K. Kobayashi - V. Liuzzi

Championship standings after Malaysia (drivers):

16) J. Alguersuari - Toro Rosso-Ferrari - 8 Pts.
17) S. Buemi - Toro Rosso-Ferrari - 6 Pts.

Round 4: China

After failing to score any points in Malaysia, McLaren needed to strike back in the worst way. Lewis Hamilton was ready to answer the call and beat the competition by three tenths of a second. Nico Rosberg takes an impressive second for Mercedes GP.

Result: L. Hamilton - N. Rosberg - M. Webber - F. Alonso - F. Massa - J. Button - S. Vettel - R. Kubica - M. Schumacher - J. Alguersuari

Hamilton's run continues, he takes back-to-back wins with the fastest lap time in Q2. Mark Webber is second ahead of Rosberg's impressive third podium in a row. Meanwhile, old teammates Schumacher and Barrichello are separated by 0.033 for tenth.

Result: L. Hamilton - M. Webber - N. Rosberg - F. Alonso - S. Vettel - F. Massa - J. Button - R. Kubica - A. Sutil - M. Schumacher

Just when people thought Vettel was struggling this weekend, he dunks on the competition to win Q3. Fernando Alonso is on the podium for the first time this weekend. Jenson Button beats his teammate after the latter won Q1 and Q2.

Result: S. Vettel - M. Webber - F. Alonso - N. Rosberg - J. Button - L. Hamilton - F. Massa - R. Kubica - M. Schumacher - A. Sutil

Championship standings after China (drivers):
1) S. Vettel - Red Bull-Renault - 239 Pts.

Round 5: Spain

Red Bull only managed to win one session in Shanghai and that clearly was not enough. Mark Webber opens the festivities in Barcelona by taking a bite out of Vettel's championship lead. The home drivers Alonso and de la Rosa are fifth and sixth.

Result: M. Webber - S. Vettel - L. Hamilton - J. Button - F. Alonso - P. de la Rosa - N. Rosberg - R. Kubica - M. Schumacher - F. Massa

Red Bull have not played all of their cards in Q1 and their 1-2 in Q2 confirms this. McLaren can protect their 3-4, however, it is Button ahead this time. Kamui Kobayashi banishes his teammate from Q3, earning his first points of the weekend.

Result: M. Webber - S. Vettel - J. Button - L. Hamilton - F. Alonso - M. Schumacher - R. Kubica - K. Kobayashi - F. Massa - N. Rosberg

Webber having almost a second over the non-Red Bull cars in the field is a very demotivating sight for all other eleven teams. Still, there are worthwhile heroics behind them: Schumacher beats Rosberg in back-to-back sessions; Alonso splits the McLarens.

Result: M. Webber - S. Vettel - L. Hamilton - F. Alonso - J. Button - M. Schumacher - R. Kubica - N. Rosberg - F. Massa - K. Kobayashi

Championship standings after Spain (drivers):
1) S. Vettel - Red Bull-Renault - 293 Pts.
2) M. Webber - Red Bull-Renault - 231 Pts.
3) F. Alonso - Ferrari - 169 Pts.
4) N. Rosberg - Mercedes - 148 Pts.
5) L. Hamilton - McLaren-Mercedes - 140 Pts.
6) J. Button - McLaren-Mercedes - 105 Pts.
7) R. Kubica - Renault - 99 Pts.
8) F. Massa - Ferrari - 97 Pts.
9) A. Sutil - Force India-Mercedes - 63 Pts.
10) M. Schumacher - Mercedes - 58 Pts.
11) P. de la Rosa - BMW Sauber-Ferrari - 26 Pts.
12) K. Kobayashi - BMW Sauber-Ferrari - 25 Pts.
13) N. Hülkenberg - Williams-Cosworth - 24 Pts.
14) R. Barrichello - Williams-Cosworth - 14 Pts.
