"With Royal Brunei Darussalam Sport picking up a few points on the league leaders, will they be able to topple Red Eyes Celtic this week with a chance to go top? Or will Celtic prevail and give the red-hot Yishun Red Diamonds a chance to catch up to the Bruneian team? It's not like the Red Diamonds will have no challenge though, as Bishan F.C. are hungry to avenge their heavy defeat last week, especially with Jun-Ho Gim back in their squad. And in Bedok, will Atletico Bedok's roughhouse tactics that got them a win against Royal Brunei help them claim another major scalp from league leaders Jurong Suning F.C.?

One team that is on the downturn is Johor-Woodlands United, still looking for a manager as they come up to face off against Tengah United in what should be a real defensive vs. attacking game. Internacional Futebol Clube de Cingapura are also known to be a defensive squad, but with Chicao out with a suspension, can they hold off an on-form Queenstown Ice this week? And in the last game of the week, Citroen-Bukit Gombak square off against the Marina Bay Mariners in what should be a cakewalk for the Mariners, but once again don't write off anyone just yet.

Oh, and yes, Johor-Woodlands United is still up for grabs.

Matchday Report

Red Eyes Celtic vs Royal Brunei Darussalam Sport

An incredible fixture, with Red Eyes Celtic putting constant pressure on the defence of Royal Brunei Darussalam Sport throughout the entire game. It would be the Bruneian side that broke the deadlock first, though, when Javier Rosario squeezed in a powerful shot through several defenders. Rasmus Jorgensen thought he had an equalizer when his daisycutter slipped into the corner of the goal, but it was brought back for a foul within the box, which made the fans at Clementi Stadium very unhappy. They got more mad when, moments later, Dieumerci Mpenza cleverly beat the offisde trap to get his seventh goal of the campaign and put the game to bed.

Bishan F.C. vs Yishun Red Diamonds

We knew this game would have an outstanding forward. We didn't know that forward was going to be Mikhail Kuznetsov, though. A thoroughly fast paced game suited Kuznetsov incredibly well, scoring very early on and also nodding in a header just before half time. Fernando Cabral would also nod in a header from a corner to seal the game for Bishan, whose defence of Lambert, Takamura and Nakamura all gave Laban Tambak lots of trouble to even find a shot.

Atletico Bedok A.F.C. vs. Jurong Suning F.C.

An intense, heavy-hitting defensive game from both sides that probably deserved a nil-nil draw if the outcome was fair. Instead, Reynaldo Antunez's early free kick was handled sloppily by Kuwan Guntur. This resulted in an all-out schmozz on the goalline. Legs were flailing out at the loose ball within the six-yard box, a goalmouth scramble for all the ages. The scramble was eventually won by Bertoldo Rocca, whose tap-in was the only goal in this encounter.

Tengah United vs. Johor-Woodlands United

Tengah gave some of their bench players a good run out today, and boy did they leave a mark. For Shinji Akimoto, that mark was an impressive one, laying in two slick through balls to Felipe Oliveira, whose job was to just slide them home, giving Tengah United. On the other hand, Le Van Song left a rather nasty mark. His challenge on Lin Tang injured Johor-Woodlands' star striker for the rest of the season. Song was lucky to escape with just a yellow, and Johor-Woodlands United fans are wondering if they'll ever escape caretaker hell.

Internacional Futebol Clube de Cingapura vs. Queenstown Ice.

What an insane goal by Freddy Maturana. The ball popping up from a challenge between him and Rasmus Vilhjalmson, his left footed half-volley on the edge of the 18-yard box was a sight to behold. However, that wasn't the memory everyone was going home with. On an early Internacional corner, Jorginho went in way too fast and butted heads with Josef Svensson trying to head the ball. Jorginho was not only carded, but knocked a little loopy. Svensson went worse for wear though, and would have to stay out of action for slightly longer than Jorginho.

Citroen Bukit-Gombak vs. Marina Bay Mariners

Citroen Bukit-Gombak's seven defenders worked an extra special treat here, putting an incredible shift in to keep Lucas Silva and Felipe Barbosa mum as they kept constant possession of the ball throughout the game. However, there was enemy for the home side: a corner. They'd been troubled by that all game, and in the 82nd minute, they were eventually beaten by Keisuke Takada's rising header that thumped its way past everyone into the roof of the net to give the Mariners a last minute victory that they'd probably need to get within sniffing distance of the title.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fixtures to come soon. Also, please take note of injuries and suspensions, there were quite a few this weekend.
