At the season finale of the 2018 FIA Prototype Challenge season, the FIA declared Asim Adhikari the champion of the inagural season, despite social media mocking the series for a continuing math error, meaning Ron Mignolet had scored more points all along. Today, in a public statement, series management addressed the error and awarded the title to the Belgian driver driving for team champions Nissan Motorsport.
"This incompetence is unprecedented in motorsport and absolutely disgusting," Johannes Rueckert, brand representative of Best In The World, commented, mentioning Team Bentley's disappointment at "having performed better all year and then be left with the false hope of being rewarded for our superior work." Not-quite champion Adhikari was more sportive, congratulating his fellow competitor on Twitter.
