Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - 2015 Japan

Post by Shizuka »

based on the assumption that, at any moment in time, there is a non-zero probability that even the slowest, most inexperienced and least reliable of underdogs might win the race. That under every rock, there might be a gold nugget. This is the award for that first podium that we all celebrate, for the overtake no-one was expecting, for Ericsson's first win. This is the award, in short, for the driver or team that makes you go "Woah! Where did THAT come from?!".

Just remember: this is a feel-good award, that will focus on nothing but track action.
Usual rules: everyone gets two votes. First vote is worth 10 points, the second 6.

Post your results until October 2.

1. Lotus - Double points finish at long last!

2. Alonso's team radio - Was pretty much the only thing that made the 6am start worth it for me.

1. Nico Hülkenberg: To the points out of nowhere!
2. Fernando Alonso: No points but managed to keep Kvyat and Verstappen behind for an unexpectedly long time with a "GP2 engine". Also an awesome team radio message. :D

1. Lotus - After the financial turmoil that has seen the team having to make do with impromptu picnics on the garage floor, the team rallied and delivered a car that impressed all weekend.
2. Nico Hulkenberg - Suck it, Londoner. Measured, calm race, didn't put a foot wrong.

1) Nico Hulkenberg: 6th was about as high as he could get so well done there, even if those starting crashes helped a lot.

2) Lotus: 7th and 8th is a nice result espesially considering how poor their financial situation is.

Honorable Mention:
Fernando Alonso: Keeping 11th place with McLaren isn´t an easy feat.

1) Lotus - Second double points finish of the season as both drivers put a solid performance despite the team being almost bankrupt by now.
2) Rossi - He doesn't know how he managed to avoid Stevens' car either.

1. Lotus - 7-8 finish is a brilliant result in their battle with STR in the WCC.
2. Nico Hülkenberg - really solid sixth place finish on a day where not many drivers were impressive.

HM. Felipe Nasr - I distinctly remember him pulling off some great moves at the start, something he's not done often at all.

1) Lotus: After all the problems, a well deserved result on-track is the better medicine.

2) Nico Hulkenberg: Classic drive from Hulk, out of trouble, and collecting valuable points.

Honorable mentions to Manor (epic save by Stevens and close call for Rossi on the 130R), Fernando Alonso (11th and dueling with a GP2 engine, his own words) and Max Verstappen (cannalized his inner Edge with the oportunistic overtake over Ericsson with Kimi's help)

1. Lotus: Considering their financial woes are so bad right now they might not make it to the end of the year, they had a pretty solid result.

2. Hulkenburg: The best of the midfield drivers.

Honorable Mentions:

Manor: Both drivers did an excellent job of saving the cars.

Alonso: Almost made it into the points with a GP2 engine.

1. Lotus - Double points finish and looked quick all race.
2. Fernando Alonso - 11th with a GP2 engine isn't bad.

HM: Jenson Button - For getting Zonta'd on the straight...
Nico Hulkenberg - Solid drive was solid. Solid.
