Announcement; this is the list of races that will be considered street races regarding the new achievement system; also remind you that achievement money works in the same way that pay driver money; you must spend 75% of it during the season.

Adelaide
Marrakech
Long Beach
Phoenix
Norisring
Monaco
Sao Paulo
Macau

For starters, those of you who want can start posting their pre-season tests line-ups;
remember is a max of 2 drivers per test (not per day), these test are free and you must confirm a line-up in order to assist. You can avoid going to if you want to.

Also, after the official pre-season tests; each team will have a maximum 10 days of private testing allowed.

Regarding home races, here's the current status:

VOECKLER -- Must decide what their homerace is; the commission suggest Monaco
JONES -- Brands Hatch
PEAK AERORACING -- Brands Hatch
MRT -- Must decide between one of the Australian races or Norisring
DACIA -- Must decide between Adelaide or Bathurst
GAUTHIER -- Must decide what their homerace is; the commission suggest Monaco
ROSENFORTH -- Brands Hatch
PLUS ONE -- Brands Hatch
REVOLUTION -- Fuji
NURMINEN -- Norisring
KAMAHA -- Fuji
RLR -- Brands Hatch
FUSION -- Brands Hatch
GILLET -- Spa
MECHA -- Must decide what their homerace is; the commission suggest Macau
KJELLERUP -- Must decide what their homerace is; the commission suggest Monaco
TASSIE -- Must decide between Adelaide or Bathurst
USD -- A1 Ring
BLOKKMONSTA -- Norisring
VENTURI FORMULA -- Must decide what their homerace is; the commission suggest Monaco
Tread lightly in ARWS. Every decision might be your last.

Given it's geographically closer, and it's the home of our lead driver, VGPE's nominated home race for 2018 will be Spa-Francorchamps.

Our official pre-season testing lineups will be as follows;

Jerez - Thomas de Bock & Dan Greenlaw
Estoril - Nathanael Spencer & Dan Greenlaw

The objective is clear - give Greenlaw as much running time as possible to get accustomed to the car, and keep Spencer's skills sharp in case he needs to deputise at any point this season.

We will also organise the following private test sessions;
16th to 18th February 2018 - Le Mans Bugatti Circuit
Day 1 - Downforce - Thomas de Bock / Nathanael Spencer
Day 2 - Downforce - Thomas de Bock / Pippa Mann
Day 3 - Downforce - Nathanael Spencer / Pippa Mann

23rd to 26th February 2018 - Le Mans Bugatti Circuit
Day 1 - Downforce - Thomas de Bock / Nathanael Spencer
Day 2 - Downforce - Thomas de Bock / Pippa Mann
Day 3 - Downforce - Nathanael Spencer / Pippa Mann
Day 4 - Driver Development - Dan Greenlaw

L'Equipe wrote:Voeckler announces technical partnership with Venturi

ARWS newcomers Venturi will receive technical and development assistance from Voeckler GPE, who currently hold the WDC with their lead driver Thomas de Bock.

The deal will see the newcomers run a modified version of the VGPOne which won 4 races last season, along with other unspecified assistance.

OOC: 2017 VGPE chassis transferred to Venturi Formula for 500cr.

Gazzetta dello Sport wrote:Pirelli lose star customer Voeckler to rival Goodyear

Voeckler GPE, who had previously led the charge for Pirelli in F1RWRS both last year and in 2016 in their previous Scuderia Alitalia guise, has surprised many by opting not to renew their deal with the Milanese tyre giant.

Instead, the French team has opted to sign with American supplier Goodyear for 2018, with team principal Jérémy-Étienne Voeckler citing a difference of priorities the reason.

"We have had an excellent partnership, but unfortunately it is time for us and Pirelli to part ways," he said in a statement. "Pirelli has elected to focus on developing a tyre that will help those at the rear of the field the most, and while it is certainly a good product for that need, their product does not fit our requirements."

"We are looking forward to our new partnership with Goodyear," the statement continued. "After extensive analysis of all the options in the market, we feel this is the best rubber in relation to the car we have produced for the upcoming season. We look forward to a positive and fruitful partnership in 2018."

OOC: VGPE opts to take Premium Goodyear tyres.

MRT will name the Norisring round as their designated home race, as it is geographically closest to the team's base in Cologne.

Autosport wrote:Jones Reveals 2018 Car, Amid Concerns Over New Ford Engine

Image

The National Jones Ford Team from ARWS unveiled their 2018 challenger earlier this evening in a presentation on Bristol's Harbourside. The Banbury-based team, last year's constructors champions, have as expected produced a bold design that sees the airbox moved much lower than normal, alongside further aerodynamic developments across the chassis and front and rear wings.

Gone are the red and yellow elements of the livery for 2018, as a largely blue scheme is complimented by white areas, separated with diagonal green/blue lines. Other visible changes include the arrival of TAG as a sponsor on the car which had been confirmed some months previously, as well as the team's switch from Dunlop to Goodyear rubber.

Jones himself was full of praise for his team's latest creation, christened the Jones 114, stating that he expected the unchanged line-up of Mark Dagnall and Diego Alvarez Torrente to be challenging for victories and the championship lead "right from the outset". The revised design, he said, would give the team the upper hand at the start of the year before others try and catch up.

In line with rumours throughout the paddock however, Jones confirmed that he does have reservations about the new-for-2018 Ford engine which is reported to already be well down on power compared to rivals BMW and Renault. The American manufacturer took a big hit from the team in 2017 relating to unreliability issues as inconsistency ultimately cost Mark Dagnall a shot at the drivers championship, and it's believed that Ford have focused primarily on ensuring those mistakes aren't made again.

For Jones though, that has come at a cost in overall power, but the Brit put a positive spin on things, stating that his team has "been in this situation before" - referencing the time when Jones Racing were one of the best performing non-turbo teams in 2013 and 2014. "We did it before, and we can do it again, but I have made it clear in no uncertain terms, that I expect the Ford engine to make significant gains over this next three year cycle. Otherwise we'll be left behind."

The Fusion team have secured a title-sponsorship deal with Coca-Cola for 2018, and associate sponsors Energy T.I., Pepe Jeans, Lagardere, Quick and Total remain from last year. Bristol-based RSG and Bristol Sport have joined the team, as have Haas Automation and JCT600.

Dacia leaves ARWS
Dacia has left the ARWS due to the engine supply rules leaving Simpson Motorsports without engines from their parent company Renault. This has left Simpson Motorsport without a major sponsor for 2018. We managed to get a few words from an irate Dave Simpson - "This is absolute bull****, we lose our engine supply and major sponsor because I'm supposedly 'too early' by about a ****ing second signing the engine deal" - before taking off in his Sandero company car in a cloud of tyre smoke.
