High Resolution Formula One Images
Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
2004. Testing photos but from where?
Schumi did not run at Jerez test at that period (10/02 to 13/02 the dates are written on the photos exif). So did he run a solo test in another circuit? All the photos are from this day so they should be from the same track.
Could this be from Fiorano? I think he run at Fiorano for one day...

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
Judging by the kerbs, that is Fiorano or Mugello.

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
I'm "almost" certain it's Fiorano. A number of those shots (1st, 4th, 5th and 6th) don't look like anywhere at Mugello. And if we're honest, if Ferrari are going to be doing any testing, it's going to be at Fiorano.
Here's a similar shot from winter testing in 2004 at Fiorano. The date of the post is 31/01/2004 so a couple of weeks before these photos, but the car is identical. http://www.forzarossa.nl/2004_01_01_archive.html

They could be from Fiorano or Mugello. But during the dates I mentioned, ferrari had testing in Mugello. Can we find photos from similar spots to identify?
Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
I love the picture of Larini in the Lambo at Imola - a beautiful car, that.

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
(3) 1993, Schumacher, Benetton B193, and from everything Google is telling me, I believe it's at Estoril.
Strike that, just seen a video of his last few laps at Estoril. He has the Nordica sponsorship on the side, but the car doesn't have bargeboards on it.
It does however at Adelaide:
But hard to see where (3) might be at Adelaide. With that sort of grass on the outside of the corner, the only place I can think of is the final turn.

I saw NORDICA on Belgium and Japan photos as well. What do you think?
How about the other 2 photos?

I'm fairly sure that (A) and (C) were taken from the same spot.

Did you find the site that sell them as a referral? I cannot find this photos on : Sutton, Getty, LAT, DPPI, wri2, apimages, afp images, Crash Pa, Grand prix photos, Hoch-Zwei, Corbis. Otherwise I cannot find a strong clue (similar shot from the same spot, livery sponsors, curbs etc).
I should agree in some though. I have seen photos.
The 1992 Schumacher pic : 1) the onboard camera 2) mobil logo 3) benetton sportsystem 4) Usen 440 logo 5) the three logos under the benetton sportsystem
The 1996 Schumacher pic : 1) low nose 2) number one on the side 3) tobacco add ----> Spain. Although the barriers reminded me of Nurbs or Argentina
as for the third photo, I cannot find a clue

I can't do any better than "it looks familiar", I'm afraid.

1978 or 1979 ??

It's a testing season. Is it Estoril ? Or is it another track? (Sponsors, setup could help)

A difficult one (for me). It's 1982. But which track? Sponsors could help. Or even the background (road lines)

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
1) Almost definitely Watkins Glen, and by that time in 1979, Williams had ground effects, so it'll be 1978.
2) Either Monza or Imola, probably Imola, as I can't quite picture that chicane at Monza.
3) Estoril seems likely, but I'm not sure.
4) The track that comes to mind is Dijon-Prenois, but it's hard to tell.

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
Sorry Tommy, I disagree with quite a bit of that!
1. This is Kyalami in 1979 - the "Dallah Avco" with Arabic script livery below the mirrors matches that used on the FW07 later in the year. In 1978 the decal in the same position simply read "Saudia". (It turns out that my own archive is a little mixed up. )
2. This is the new Woodcote chicane at Silverstone in 1987.
3. I believe that this is indeed Estoril.
4. Very difficult - this one is unclassified in my archive. The circuit seems to me to resemble Detroit (but the car ran with a front wing there - but perhaps not all of the time?), or Kyalami (but Jarier had a Candy sticker on his visor there, and the car had no Agip sponsorship plus no Denim "wheel" in front of the cockpit), or Las Vegas (for which I have no comparison). I have it listed as an FA1C, which would rule out Dijon (where the FA1D was used), but this may not be accurate (and I can't tell the difference between the FA1C and FA1D anyway ) I can't find another photo where the car's air vents are covered up (as they are here).
Here's a list of problems, based on the car's appearance only and not what the circuit looks like:
South Africa - Candy visor strip, no Agip stickers, bolt on nose below number instead of between the 3 and the 1.
Brazil - Candy visor strip, no Agip stickers.
Long Beach - no Agip stickers (only Paletti for reference).
San Marino - no Agip stickers (only Paletti for reference).
Belgium - front wing used.
Monaco - no photos to compare to.
Detroit - front wing used.
Canada - front wing used.
Netherlands - sponsors match up, but the "31" spacing is slightly different.
Great Britain - sponsors match up, but the "31" spacing is slightly different.
France - no photos to compare to.
Germany - no photos to compare to.
Austria - no photos to compare to.
Switzerland - Candy visor strip.
Italy - matches.
Las Vegas - no photos to compare to.
My hunch is Las Vegas, but I can't prove it!

[quote="radomer"]A) 1985 or 1984 ? I know the rest
The link says Brazil 1984, so that's what I'm going with.
B)
Not sure what year it is, but I think the track is Aintree.
C)
Seeing as though there is a sign in the background, its most likely a street circuit. I'm going with Long Beach.
D)
2002 Austria?
No idea
E)
With the signs in the background, its most likely Suzuka. Given the number on the BAR, I'm going with 2000. So 2000 Suzuka.
/quote]
My answers are in italics. And please note that I have guessed these with no research apart from those images whatsoever, so I most likely failed miserably

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
If C) is Long Beach then it can't be from the race because Ferrari used that weird double wing that got them disqualified. So presumably it's from practice or quali.
Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
D) is Austria 2002. The Toyotas have car numbers 24 and 25 , you can tell the driver behind is McNish because of his tartan helmet and not only does it look like Spileberg/Austria, you can see the skidmarks caused by Panis' car spinning out after the engine exploded.

A and B ?
A is Rio 1984.
B is Aintree 1961, the only wet British GP at the track. The drivers are Wolfgang von Trips in the Ferrari 156 and Stirling Moss in the Rob Walker Lotus 18/21.

The Martin Brundle pic must be from the pre-season tyre test, because in the GP his Tyrrell was running a Yardley Gold livery.

Re: High Resolution Formula One Images
I'm so glad that I found this thread. My apartment is looking pretty bare, so I want to put pictures up. I've been scouring the Wikimedia Commons for days now, and while I have found a great shot of Elfyn Evans at the 2014 Rally Germany, I am yet to find a good Formula 1 photo. I'm going to print them off in A0 size and frame them.

Dodgy gearbox
Would the powers that be allow me to post a pic of the prettiest F1 car of all time on the grounds that the semi-automatic gear system was a bit rejectful? Um it's the Ferrari 641 but the image doesn't appear to be showing up?
