Re: Alternate NASCAR 2004 - Davis Sponsors Needed (andrew)

Post by Samster »

Audi accept Bill Davis as their works team. This leaves Jasper to take Mazda and Morgan-McClure to take the final semi-works Chevrolet contract.

Now that teams have made their bids I'll run the RNGs for primary and associate sponsors later today.

After how that turned out, BAM Racing has revised their offers for the #49:

Car #49 part-time: Menards, World Financial Group, Hot Wheels, Snap-On Tools, Zapf Creations

The #49 will have priority over the #59, and thanks to the laws of economics, part-time sponsors WILL have priority over associate sponsors

For now yes that's your only sponsor. The #19 will be relying on an associate sponsor or failing that, make up its schedule from part-time sponsors.

Decide which of your cars gets the Smirnoff associate.

FA1L
Decide whether Pepsi joins the #19 as primary or the #9 as associate. The latter option allows the #19 to try for part time sponsors.

Neno
Decide whether Travelodge joins the #77 as primary or the #91 as associate. The latter option allows the #77 to try for part time sponsors.

Lone Star Steakhouse has made an offer to join SCORE Motorsports as primary sponsor for double money.

Hawk Aussie
Red Line Oil has made an offer to join Daytona Speed Inc. as primary sponsor for double money.

I'll run the part time sponsor RNGs once I have answers to the above questions.

Would it be at all possible to interest Energiser in sponsoring the #59 car for the 5 races it doesn't have sponsorship for?

I'll announce the sponsor schedule for the two BAM Racing cars once the calender is released

Energizer will sponsor the #59 for an extra $100,000.

Yes that's fine though they won't be providing any money for it, just a livery.

NASCAR has released the 2004 calender. It is radically different to before with only Daytona keeping its second race. This frees up the schedule for a total of 13 road course races including 5 outside the U.S. Milwaukee also secures a Cup race.
http://f1alternate.shoutwiki.com/wiki/2 ... n_Calendar

There will be no chase system but there will be a new points system, largely based off the IRL's with the aim of rewarding wins more than the previous system which rewarded consistency. The exact details of the new system will be released shortly but I can reveal than under the new points, Ryan Newman would be the defending champion going into this season. Teams will also earn $10,000 for every point scored. Also the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600 and Bristol will be designated ''marathon races'' and are awarded double points and prize money.

I've now created the driver list over on the first page. The rules for which are explained there. You may start bidding for drivers now.

Personally, I believe that Hendricks should only be able to make offers for three cars, if Gordon's only interested in the #24.

Anyway, here are the driver offers for Gibbs Racing, separated into handy priority tiers

Tier 1
Tony Stewart - $12 mill
Bobby Labonte - $6 mill
Brian Vickers - $1.5 mill
Jacques Villeneuve - $7 mill
Jeff Burton - $7 mill
Kurt Busch - $7 mill

Tier 2
Sterling Marlin
Ricky Rudd
Robby Gordon
Joe Nemecheck
A.J. Allmendinger (2003 Atlantic Series Champ)
Carl Edwards
Casey Mears
Jamie McMurray
Mark Taylor (2003 IndyCar Pro Series Champ)
Greg Biffle
Alex Barron
Kenny Wallace
Dave Blaney
P.J. Jones

And for BAM Racing:

Car 49
Mark Taylor (2003 IndyCar Pro Series Champ)
Carl Edwards
Casey Mears
Alex Barron
A.J. Allmendinger (2003 Atlantic Series Champ)

Car 59
Coy Gibbs
Sam Hornish Jr
Robbie Buhl
Greg Ray
Buddy Lazier

The Car 59 schedule will be announced at the same time as sponsor allocations for the two BAM Racing cars

EDIT: I've noticed that you've dropped the Talladega 500, one of the mainstays of the NASCAR calender, yet kept the fall race and made it only 400 miles. Why? :|

EDIT 2: Having dissected the calender further, Joe Gibbs Racing is not happy with it, and demand the following changes to be made as soon as possible:

1. The re-instation of the Summer Talledega 500 mile Race, possibly at the expense of the Fall race
2. The late-summer Bristol Race (Sharpie 500) to be reinstated as soon as possible, again possibly at the expense of the other Bristol race
3. St Petersburg, Suzuka, Oulton Park and Eastern Creek to be dropped immediately. St Pete is simply asking for a disaster, while the other three can easily be replaced by Twin Ring Motegi, Rockingham and Calder Park respectively.
4. The following races to be returned to the prescribed Lengths:
Southern 300: Increased to 500 miles
Subway 250: Increased to 500 laps

While change is good and all, at the end of the day, NASCAR is essentially a stock car oval-racing series, and we must stay true to those roots. We believe the new calender strays too far from our past, and thus must be remedied.

Penske is quite displeased at some of the calendar changes, for example, dropping the fall race at Bristol entirely but keeping the less prestigious spring race, moving the Southern 500 from its traditional Labor Day spot and cutting it to 300 miles, as well as running Oulton Park when there's a perfectly good oval in the UK at Rockingham, with a similar situation in Australia with Eastern Creek and Calder Park, and Japan with Suzuka and Twin Ring Motegi. We also feel that running NASCAR at St. Peterburg may prove... problematic, and see no reason for the event at Talladega to be shortened to 400 miles, given that it is one of the most prestigious events on the calendar. We do appreciate a shift towards more road courses on the schedule, but caution against adding them for the sake of it.

Strictly speaking, Hendrick are under no obligation to bid for Gordon, but they are the only team he'll race for at this point in his career. Same goes for Kyle Petty with Petty #45.

1. I chose to drop the spring race as its in close proximity to both of the Daytona races and leaving the fall race in keeps the restrictor plate races spread out. I'll consider keeping it to 500 miles and make it a double points ''marathon race''.
2. I'll switch to the late-summer Bristol race and move Martinsville to its spring race and Richmond back into the Martinsville fall slot
3. I ran the BTCC Cardiff 500 on the St. Pete track and had only a few collisions so the race there should be fine. I'll consider the ovals for the flyaway races if I can find and download them, I just thought the British fans in particular would prefer a road course to ease them into NASCAR (we tend to view ovals as the lesser form of racing here) and the racing at NR2003 Oulton Park is very good if a little collision happy at times. Maybe rotating venues will be an option. Also the British and California races have been swapped to the fall while Darlington and Kansas will move to the spring.
4. I may consider keeping Darlington to 500 miles but 500 laps at Martinsville takes forever to get through (usually about 4 hours) since its the slowest oval on the schedule. I may consider increasing to 300 laps though. The reason I've shorted most races is because I feel NASCAR races in general are a bit too long and I'd like to try and cap most of them at two hours. If I increase either to 500s then they'll be double points races.

On another note, V8fan, HawkAussie and Simonracer. You need to specify exactly how much you are bidding for each driver. Otherwise I'll have to assume your not offering a salary.

Penske Racing would also like to enquire about the possibility of fielding a part-time entry (#92) for Helio Castroneves and Gil de Ferran.

Both Castroneves and de Ferran are approved by NASCAR to run the road courses. You may have your part-time entry but all sponsors have been taken so Penske will have to field it out of their own pocket.
