NASCAR 2004 - Speedweeks Entry Lists Up

Post by Moda92 »

Introducing NASCAR to the alternate universe. Its 2004 and NASCAR has decided to introduce new car regulations, aiming to increase safety and lower costs. Each car built was intended to able able to race on all kinds of circuits, allowing teams to reduce their fleet of cars to just a main and a spare at most for each entry. This has led to many new manufacturers from around the world to enter the series.

All you need to do for now is, pick a team (if that team has an engine shop you automatically gain control of that too), purchase Racing Entitlement Contracts (RECs) which come with their own unique car number and make a bid for a works support contract.

REC Costs
Full Time - $1,000,000 per entry.
Part Time - $300,000 per entry. (Max 12 races)

Teams are restricted to five RECs altogether. Any team that competed in 2003 will have their REC numbers carried over automatcially, the price for which was payed before the initial budgets (so effectively they are free for this season), each team has their current REC numbers shown in their profile below. If you wish to add any new RECs they will have to be purchased.

Driver List

Drivers competing in the Cup Series must meet the following requirements.

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have competed at least 25 races in either the Busch or Craftman's Truck series or be a former ARCA champion.
Must have competed in at least one NASCAR race during the past season.
Exceptions may be given to drivers from other categories if they are high-profile enough.

You may bid for as many as five drivers per entry (e.g. Roush can bid for as much as 25 as they have five entries), you do not need to specify who drives which car yet as you can decide once you have all of your drivers.

The following drivers have guaranteed approval for all NASCAR Cup races. They are split into salary ranges. Remember that these salaries do not have to be met but are merely a guide to show the sort of money each driver is expecting.

Chassis Build Rules

For those building cars, there will be a tier structure from which I'll run an RNG to set the quality of your cars.

Tier / Aero / Chassis / Reliability / Cost
Tier 1** 90-100 / 90-100 / 0-50 / (unavailable)
Tier 1* 85-95 / 85-95 / 0-50 / (unavailable)
Tier 1: 80-90 / 80-90 / 0-50 / $5,000,000
Tier 2: 75-85 / 75-85 / 0-50 / $4,500,000
Tier 3: 70-80 / 70-80 / 0-50 / $4,000,000
Tier 4: 65-75 / 65-75 / 0-50 / $3,500,000
Tier 5: 60-70 / 60-70 / 0-50 / $3,000,000
Tier 6: 55-65 / 55-65 / 0-50 / $2,500,000
Tier 7: 50-60 / 50-60 / 0-50 / $2,250,000
Tier 8: 45-55 / 45-55 / 0-50 / $2,000,000
Tier 9: 40-50 / 40-50 / 0-50 / $1,750,000
Tier 10: 30-45 / 30-45 / 0-50 / $1,500,000
Tier 11: 20-35 / 20-30 / 0-50 / $1,250,000
Tier 12: 0-25 / 0-25 / 0-50 / $1,000,000

The costs shown are a one-off design cost. The actual build cost of each car will be 10% of the build cost. So a tier 1 car will cost $5,000,000 to design and $500,000 to build.

Like in Pi's F1 series you can choose to focus on one or two areas of development. If you focus on just one area, you will get the range from two tiers higher in that area. If you focus on two areas, you will get the range from one tier above for those areas.

Since these are brand new regulations, all teams are starting from scratch, hence why the reliability range is the same across all tiers. This will change for future seasons but for now all teams face a significant chance of starting out with a very unreliable car.

Teams are restricted to building no more than 10 cars per season as one of the aims of the new regulations is to keep costs down and encourage teams to use the same car for as long as possible. This includes any cars built for other teams. As chassis and engine damage will be a factor, I'd recommend building at least one spare car for every two entries you own or you could end up with no available car to use if you significantly damage your main car.

Teams building their own cars can also make them available for other teams to purchase at a price of their choice.

Works and semi-works teams of course are obligated to build their own cars. Satellite teams are already committed to purchasing cars from the teams they have aligned with. The rest of the teams are free to either build or purchase.

For non-works teams building their own cars, the following models can be build under the regulations.

Audi A4
BMW E46
Buick LaCrosse
Cadillac Seville
Chevrolet Malibu
Chrysler Sebring
Dodge Stratus
Ford Taurus
Honda Accord
Hyundai Sonata
Kia Optima
Lincoln LS
Mazda 6
Mercedes C-Class
Nissan Altima
Pontiac Grand Prix
Toyota Camry
Volkswagen Passat
Volvo S60

Engines

I decided to ditch the engine shop format, instead you'll just have a list of engines manufacturers to choose from though they must match the brand of your car.
If your team are the builder of the engines then build cost will be the same as the purchase cost.

Costs are per engine. If you damage an engine beyond repair then you'll need to build/buy a replacement.

BMW
BMW Motors $400,000

Chrysler-Dodge
Evernham $450,000
Ernie Elliott $350,000

General Motors
Childress $450,000
Hendrick $500,000

Ford
Roush-Yates $500,000

Honda
Penske $450,000

Mazda
Jasper $400,000

Mercedes
DEI $400,000

Nissan
Nissan Motors $400,000

Toyota
Gibbs $450,000

VW-Audi
Davis $400,000

Miscellaneous
Arrington $300,000
Pro Motors $250,000
Mike Ege $250,000

Upgrade Rules

To upgrade an area of a car it costs $100,000 to gain a point per area per car. An RNG will determine whether the upgrade was successful. To encourage teams not to favour certain drivers, the chances of success increases if more cars are involved in the upgrade and shown below. Works teams can also involve their satellite teams in upgrades.

1 Cars - 50% success rate.
2 Cars - 70% success rate.
3 Cars or more - 90% success rate.

Any team with an engine shop will be in charge of engine upgrades. The rules are the same as for car upgrades.

Pit Crews

Works the same as chassis designs but the cost is per entry. You'll need a pit crew for each entry you are running. Upgrades are not available.

Tier / Strategy / Speed / Consistency / Cost
Tier 1** 90-100 / 90-100 / 90-100 / (unavailable)
Tier 1* 85-95 / 85-95 / 85-95 / (unavailable)
Tier 1: 80-90 / 80-90 / 80-90 / $500,000
Tier 2: 75-85 / 75-85 / 75-85 / $450,000
Tier 3: 70-80 / 70-80 / 70-80 / $400,000
Tier 4: 65-75 / 65-75 / 65-75 / $350,000
Tier 5: 60-70 / 60-70 / 60-70 / $300,000
Tier 6: 55-65 / 55-65 / 55-65 / $250,000
Tier 7: 50-60 / 50-60 / 50-60 / $250,000
Tier 8: 45-55 / 45-55 / 45-55 / $200,000
Tier 9: 40-50 / 40-50 / 40-50 / $175,000
Tier 10: 30-45 / 30-45 / 30-45 / $150,000
Tier 11: 20-35 / 20-30 / 20-30 / $125,000
Tier 12: 0-25 / 0-25 / 0-25 / $100,000

If anyone else wants Yates I'll give them up. Yes this was my old account, this series is really just an experiment to see how much interest it can get right now.

Since there is still plenty of teams left and interest here is drying up I'm considering two options. Advertise on another forum to fill the remaining teams (EFR Forums?) or allow those already signed up a second team.

Advertising it on another forum is a good idea.

Well I tried advertising on EFR but so far there are no takers. Only option now is to allow members here to take second teams. There will be a few restrictions though.

The following are restricted to picking a team with one pre-existing REC.
roblomas
peteroli34
Wizzie
V8fan12
Salamander
FA1L
Hawk Aussie
FantometteBR

Everyone else can pick any of the remaining teams.

Alright, imma try and save Morgan-McClure Motorsports. We'll bid for a Ford semi-works contract.

I don't understant what REC is, please could you explain it a bit clearer?

If it means the people on that list get annother one car team, may I please take Victory In Jesus Racing? Naturally, a certain person would be driving that car

Thanks very Much!

Edit:
Since go_Rubens picked that team wilst I was posting, may I please take Kirk Shelmerdine Racing?

Racing Entitlement Contract, its effectively an entry for the year which you have to buy. One for each car.

If you pick a team that has 'New Team' in the possessions section you'll need to buy at least one REC to have a entry and also confirm your number.

You can run PPI as an official satellite team, kind of like what RCR has with Furniture Row now.

I see. For the 'New Team' the REC will come from their budget and could the number be 69? Thanks for clarifying.

Speaking of batshite insane, I'll take MB2 Motorsport as a satellite Gibbs team, if that's possible.

Since you already have Gibbs, you will have to pick one of the single car teams.

Ah, in that case, BAM Racing will do.
