If anything you should have got Merc to pay YOU to put Frentzen in the car. :lol:

That is inexperience for you. I got two excellent drivers but though buying them with too much money. Oh well, at least I'll be having fun racing or not :lol: .

No, you just bid for him at the moment! But there is no other bid for him so the chance of signing him is very high for you!

For the money: Don't wory about your budget to much! You will have the chance to get the money back with scoring points(in case of eurobrun(0.00000000001%), finish in the top ten of the constructors championship(again0,0000000000001%) or with sponsors at the beginning of 1991(realistic chance of of getting up to 5m$ or even more!). Only if a team start 1991(after the sponsoring thing) with no money it will go bankrupt.

I think Coloni and Arrwos have no chance of signing him because of the Ferrari bid.

well, we missed Nugel Mansel and Martin Brundle and we wont have any British driver racing for us. However, we are more than happy Rene Arnoux joined our team and so did Mika Hakkinen, so we combine experience and youth. Damon Hill is another talented driver that we are giving a chance and if he astonishes us we will put him in a racing role.

Mika Hakkinen is said to be future champion, so let's see what he is capable of. Arnoux promised to teach him all he can, so our aim is points finish every race.
To finish first, first you have to finish!

Great, I have a full Italian racer line-up at a French team. :D Martini and rookie Zanardi might cause some surprises. Herbert for test driver could be a good idea too.

Honestly, with our Senna/Nanninni driver line-up, a chassis penned by Rory Byrne and with John Barnard as Technical Director, I think we should be shoo-ins for at least fourth, even with our duff, year old engines.

If Alex Caffi can stump up $0.5m in cash, I will consider dropping Collard and put Dumfries as our test driver. Is that possible, Hermann?

Yeah, but Collard will be pissed of and not signing with you next year(if you bid for him) and there is a chance that Dumfries pul out of the contract because he has no racing seat anymore!

Car upgrades

Car upgrades are a more complexe thing. You can focus on different things during a test sesion with each car. These things will be:
Front Wing
Air Box
Floor
Rear Wing
Suspension
Steering System
Cooling System
Electrical System
Gearbox
Engine(only if the supplier wants it)
Tyres(only if the supplier wants it)
If you focus on a part with one car the upgrade chance will be 40%,60% for 2 cars and 70% for 3 cars. This means you can focus on 3 different parts(one for each car) but with only 40% chance of upgrading the parts. After a test session you will get a confirmation if the update worked or not.
Signing up for a test session would look like this:
Location:f.e. Imola
Car1:Gearbox
Car2:Gearbox
Car3:Cooling System


The second major thing is high technical upgrades.
This upgrades you will have to develop before they will make your car faster. But once you developed them they will stick to your team which mean you will have them next season aswell. This updates can be banned by the Rulebook. The rules for next season will be announced after the 8th race. To start the development of high technical upgrades you will have to pay first. After this you can focus with the cars on that like it is for standard upgrades. You will get confirmation if the system worked or not. Once the system worked you can develop them like standard parts but it can take quite a long time to get the systems working(maybe the whole season). The high technical upgrades and their prizes are:
Adjustable Frontwing 1m$
Adjustable Rearwing 1m$
Ground effect 5m$
Active Suspension 4.5m$
Power Steering 2.5m$
Traction Control 1.5m$
Sequential Gearbox 3m$

Rulebook for this season:
Adjustable Frontwing = allowed
Adjustable Rearwing = allowed
Ground effect = banned
Active Suspension = allowed
Power Steering = allowed
Traction Control = banned
Sequential Gearbox = allowed

So this is it. Please confirm the car focuses for the pre season testing!

Does that mean that only these tracks are available for testing? And also are they free as stated before, or we have to pay if we try high technical upgrades?

And also: Would Ford '90 give me free upgrades everytime I ask (test) such? And should I pay for that test, cause it is said FREE upgrades?

Our program for Silverstone is all 3 cars working on Active suspension

As for Paul Ricard: Arnoux and Hakkinen will be working on engine, while Damon Hill - on gearbox.


Looks like we are working mainly on mechanical aspects, neglecting aerodynamics :D

At Jerez:
Johnny should test the airbox, Martini and Zanardi should give the gearbox a try.

At Imola:
Johnny should test the suspension, Martini should try steering system, and Zanardi would be given the rear wing.

If my budget Sorry, did I mean debt? will allow it, I will focus on Traction Control and a Sequential Gearbox.

Frentzen: Power Steering at Imola and Sequential Gearbox at Hockenheim
McNish: Sequential Gearbox at Imola and Power Steering at Hockenheim

Berger will test the Rear Wing, van de Poele the rear wing, and Langes the front wing.

Ferrari Lineups for all the tests

Piquet will test the cooling system. Nakajima will test the Gearbox and Dalmas will test the suspension

Car upgrades(clarification)
Sorry i think i missed that in my post about upgrades: For testing every permanent race track is available!(For preseason testing only the anounced 5)
Testing during the season will be possible after every second race and will cost 500k. For high technical upgrades you have to pay the first time you try them! For active suspension this would mean you have to pay 4.5m$. The preseason testing sessions are free so for silverstone you have to pay 4.5m$. If you try the active suspension at paul ricard it would be free and during the season it will cost 500k(for testing).
For the engine: you can test them but it would give any power to you except the engine suplier wants you to test the engines! This will only happen in special events like a "Judd-test day" in which al Judd powered teams are invited and have to test the engines. Engine upgrades(for your Engine) are free. You will recieve them at the time Ford finished the upgrade! For payd upgrades(f.e.Renault) Renault will make an upgrade and if the teams want it they have to pay for it!

Dallara will center on Floor on three cars in Paul Ricard, while in Jerez, the Suspensión and Front Wing will be our focus, again with the three cars.

McLaren wants to offer Bernd Schneider the test driver role for $0.5m. In addition, we will focus on the floor for Hockenheim while we will use the Jerez test to develop a sequential gearbox.

Onyx will test at Silverstone, with both cars focusing on aerodynamics (so Johansson will do front wing, and Foitek will do rear wing). :)

Behind the scenes, the ownership fighting in the team has increased. (ED: moreso compared to what happened to the team in real 1990) After Jean-Pierre van Rossem reluctantly stayed after one of the new shareholders told him to stay, his share at the team dropped to just 25% with Peter Monteverdi bought 40% of what was formerly van Rossem's. Karl Foitek, father of Gregor, who will race with this team, and Bruno Frei, an owner of a Ferrari dealership, bought 10 percent of the shares, each. Then came a hot-headed Japanese businesswoman, Ms. Asuka Kuwashima, which bought 15% of Onyx's shares. Asuka told The Grand Prix Journal that she wanted to be F1's first female team manager. It is Asuka who insisted van Rossem to stay with the team.

What will happen next? Stay tuned in this channel.

Well, you started it up...I just finished it off. ;)

The part that amazes me is the sheer quantity of Italian drivers and Italian registered teams. That's tailed off significantly in recent years...

first of all, thanks for the Wiki-page! Very good work!
With regards to testing i found a few mistakes that some of you made:

You can't focus on suspension AND front wing with all 3 cars! Only one part at a time per car! The development of high technical upgrades requieres testing!!

You can focus on engine, BUT there will be no efford because the engine supplier don't need your testing time!
