They should have drivers do it more often, so entertaining to hear them just letting it out

Re: 2012 UAE Grand Prix Discussion Thread
And with three pieces of team radio and one on-site interview I am reminded why I loathe Kimi Räikkönen that much. Hopefully he grows tired of F1 again pretty quickly. Although his drive was without a shadow of a doubt awesome, a fully deserved victory.
But of course the story of this race is Vettel: this man has become a machine in recent months. It's like he was replaced by a Terminator from the future when nobody was watching. After a drive like this, something tells me it's going to take a lot of bad luck for him to be defeated. I can't wait until Austin arrives and this championship race continues.

Hamilton has taken his failure VERY well indeed, hasn't he?
Usually he'd hide behind his glasses with poker face, but he had some semblance of a smile just then.

For possibly the first time ever, I feel really sorry for him. He would have walked that race had the car not failed.
Something else I've only just noticed in all the mayhem - no points for Mercedes again! And Kobayashi's points have moved Sauber fairly close to them now.

The gap's now 12 points. Should be do-able, especially if Mercedes keep bathplugging up, and inevitable if Perez remembers how to finish a race.

Well, Sauber, mostly Perez, has been bathplug it up as well.

KK's only 8 points behind Perez now.
Naturally, 8 points is the new gap between a McLaren drive and the JobCentre queue.

I would argue it is a case of pace vs consistency. Is it easier to teach a driver to be quick or easier to teach a driver to be consistent?
Senna and Kobayashi may be more consistent drivers, but in ultimate pace I would chose Maldonado and Perez every time.

I wouldn't call Kobayashi a really consistent driver, and Senna is consistently poor with a few exceptions. But it is really sad, if a generally quick and entertaining driver like Kobayashi doesn't have a place in F1. Although racking up some points like today might help him - please, please, please, please...
Oh, and Kimi won. That's great. (trying to be worthy for him in style )

I wouldn't rule out Alonso. The next track is an unknown quantity and Ferrari has always done well in Interlagos.

Didn't say Red Bull was weak there or anything Just that the track suits Ferrari maybe a bit more than the last two?

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I wasn't very impressed by the drivers swearing in the interview. Mini Lella was watching. In the old-format interview I can't recall anyone swearing because it wasn't the sort of environment. Luckily I don't think she particularly noticed, she just kept asking "Why does Kimi look sad when he winned?"
I'm not anti swearing but there's a time and a place for it.

To stoneface David Coulthard no less, than Vettel poured rose water over DC. Spongebob Squarechin kept a British stiff upper lip throughout.

Such a shame in the circumstances that they picked the wrong McLaren driver from the past. Mika interviewing Kimi would've been comedy gold.
"Well done Kimi"
"Yes"
"Congratulations on beating the Fernando and the Sebastian"
"Yes"
Interesting that for fairness they've had 2 BBC people and 2 Sky people doing the podium interviews. The score so far -
Eddie Jordan - Embarrassing
DC - Dull, though amazingly I don't think he used the word 'crucial'
Johnny Herbert - Great fun
Martin Brundle - Extremely professional and intelligent.
So I'm not regretting my decision to get Sky F1 then...

Oh dear, I hadn't thought of that. It was much better when he was off racing (or playing golf or whatever?) and they had Anthony Davidson instead.
Mind you, if they did give Damon a go they'd have to give someone else from the BBC a go too. Who's left, Jake Humphrey?!

I hope for all humankind they don't send Darrell Waltrip up there for the upcoming race in Austin.
I mean I like DW, but his forte is with Nascar and to an extent V8s.
