Nosecone destruction championship

Post by Bleu »

Well, I have collected the damaged front wings this year. Here's what I have caught so far this year. Only ones where driver pits and continues are counted, so if you retire from the crash, that doesn't count. I think bonus must be awarded if driver destroys two front wings in same race. So second one in one race is worth of two.

Australia: Webber, Sutil, Barrichello
Malaysia: Buemi
China: Piquet x2, Kubica x2, Glock, Buemi

So we have at the moment:
Piquet 3
Kubica 3
Buemi 2
Webber 1
Sutil 1
Barrichello 1
Glock 1

Now all we need is a DNF/DSQ championship
Anyways I think this should be the points system:
1 point if you lose a front wing in a race
2 points for the 2nd and 1 more point for every wing thereafter
5 points if you take someone out in the process (That means Webber, Barichello and Kubica all get 5 extra points  )

Barrichello had his front wing damaged in collision with Räikkönen around lap 8 in Melbourne, so he doesn't deserve bonus. But it's good idea to give bonus points if other driver retires.

Blue i think u will find that he had damaged it before on the 1st corner crash (which i think he took out Hekki in) and it was already damaged when he slightly tagged Kimi's ferrari and the piece finally came off....

I think Adrian Sutil should get double point for what he did down at turn five yesterday.

Does Piquet's nose change during practice count as a point?

I decided that causing another driver to retire would give you triple points. So it's three points for normal situation and six points with your second nosecone. I think that deciding factor is on which car you destroy your front wing. So if car A (A loses front wing) hits car B and car B hits then car C who retires, no bonus points for A.

Regarding practice incidents I don't follow every practice so it could cause me to lose someone and I would like so I wouldn't give points for that.

So with those rules:
Kubica 5
Piquet 3
Webber 3
Buemi 2
Sutil 1
Barrichello 1
Glock 1

First tiebreaker will be the amount of nosecone changes.

Well it WOULD be quicker and more conclusive...
Some say he plans to put an S921 on the Goodwood 2012 run, and that he DOES know what Deletraz is doing.
All we know is...he's called Perry McCarthy!

...we'll never see an S921 at Goodwood, will we?

I'm actually pretty surprised by Kubica's strong performance in this discipline. Before the start of the season, I hadn't expected him to be anywhere close to where he is in the points standings now.

After Bahrain GP I thought about other bonus points: double points for hitting team-mate, which would give Kubica and Massa double there. Heidfeld had his front wing damaged on other contact. Causing your team-mate would be worth of 6 points (causing retirement+team-mate)

Kubica 7 (0-0-5-2)
Piquet 3 (0-0-3-0)
Webber 3 (3-0-0-0)
Buemi 2 (0-1-1-0)
Massa 2 (0-0-0-2)
Sutil 1 (1-0-0-0)
Barrichello 1 (1-0-0-0)
Glock 1 (0-0-1-0)
Heidfeld 1 (0-0-0-1)
Nakajima 1 (0-0-0-1)

I agree, Bleu. With something like that system, all Nelsinho has to do is aim for the other anvil-nosed car when he's lapped and that's instant success!

Let's just say that the rate of inflation for nosecones for Brazilian drivers is 4 times as high as nosecones for drivers of other nationalities.

From the way the season's gone so far, though, I wouldn't go against Kubica. He's had a brilliant start to this championship, and the way the things are going in the alternate championship, I don't think he'd want to waste this golden oppurtunity

So who scored in the Nosecone Championship in Spain? I think the collision at the start was the only reason for nosecones coming off, wasn't it?

Nakajima got his front wing damaged, but he didn't seem to be part of those two incidents which took four cars out so no bonus for him.

Bleu, does that mean that merely one driver scored a point in the nosecone championship in Spain?

It was utterly surprising at least to me that no driver damaged the nosecone of his car on the first lap in Monaco. Wow!

Still, Massa's spin at the swimming pool in qualifying damaged one, and Kovalainen's race-ending spin at the same spot did so, too. If I recall correctly, Hamilton had one changed during a pitstop. And when Buemi went into the back of Nelsinho, that destroyed the nosecone for sure.
I'm sure I missed somebody here.

What's the new highscore in the nosecone championship after the Monaco GP?

Kubica's early pit stop was due to puncture.

I recall that Hamilton was only one who had nosecone changed following his earlier clash with Heidfeld. So Lewis only for the point.
