Speaking of power-to-pass, here's some numbers for you. It will be an addition of 100 horsepower instead of the 10-20 hp bonus it currently has.

Honestly, I think it will take more balls to use correctly. If it gives reverse numbers, it'll be like someone strapped a parachute to the car for a moment.

You can't do standing starts on most of the ovals because that would be mind-boggingly stupid.

Also, you forgot one thing about the DP01 -- and that's how damn unsafe the car was. A crash that put (of all people) Paul Tracy out for awhile didn't even do that two years before to Ryan Hunter-Reay when he obliterated the wall at Milwaukee...

That's nice. IIRC they tried it at Mexico City, but all I can remember is Bourdais easily taking that one.

What's hilarious was how Jeremy Shaw was promoting the thing as 'one of the safest cars in the world'. Yeah right...

Belle Isle is back!!! :D :D :D

Let's hope that if half the field decides to fail simultaneously (hello Cristiano da Matta!) that it won't be during an ad break!

HVM Racing is going to be the Slowtus flagship team after apparently ditching the move to be Penske's B-Team.

There goes Simona's career!

34 cars + mile and a half track running at Indy speeds equals a huge pile up. And I believe the car that flew through the air was Dan Wheldon. Hoping everyone is alright.

That was the most frightening crash I have ever seen since Greg Moore. I haven't been left speechless for that long since then.

I don't think much could have been done about that.

Indycar couldn't ask for a worse conclusion to the season. The title decided in the first 10 laps, 1/3 of the field now missing, and the one guy Indycar tried to draw viewership with might be grievously injured.

Dario wins the championship in the saddest way possible, and nobody cares.

Assuming this race gets underway again, here's to hoping Kanaan can put one in the bag for 2011, there needs to be one good story to come out of this, and KV needs a win.

Tha- Huh- ah... oh my god...

Cynon, that feel, after this and Greg Moore, just...
Damn.

I hope to god that Dan is ok....

And Dario won points in my book for not even mentioning the championship at all, I legitimately thought he might at least say it was anticlimactic or something of that sort, but after that bathplugging clusterbathplug of a wreck...

Wow...

This track only worked for ChampCar with roadcourse wings, with, if I remember correctly, less banking as well.

Guess this one's off the calendar for next year...

EDIT: 3:43 PM Dan has been airlifted to the hospital; his family is traveling by car there as well. JR Hildebrand and Pippa Mann are also being transported to the hospital, but with less serious injuries.

Very telling interview from the Mayor of Hinchtown. Appears that Rahal and Hunter Reay were (typically) being dumbasses, stacked up the field, and Cunningham made contact with Hinchcliffe...

...and Power checked himself back into the medical center, complaining about lower back pain. Power is now in the hospital as well.

Cars gouged holes in the asphalt. I can't even remember that happening in NASCAR.

no one wins a championship like this. or at least no one should be decided the winner like this. think of the driver safety and all the fans that got free tickets.
the only plus side to the weekend is that TK got the pole.

Other than the Indy 500 I don't follow IndyCar that much so when I checked AutoSport to see anything new and to see this (and the replay someone put on YouTube)...

My God; I hope Wheldon is alive. That was a seriously bad accident, and one that looks like it could have been avoided if Hunter-Reay and Rahal didn't act like idiots.

Wow. What a shock. The initial accident didn’t look that bad, just two guys making contact and finding the wall. But then it snowballed and two more cars became airborne, and that was bad enough … but then Wheldon arrived on-scene, sailing through the air, and you knew it was a bad accident. I can only hope he didn’t suffer, that the force of the impact was enough to knock him out and that he never had to feel anything, because that was one of the worst accidents I’ve ever seen.

Rest in peace.
