I have just been going through some old F1 News magazines from the 1990s in my search for articles on MasterCard Lola, when I found this retrospective on the Osella squad, so I thought I would tack it onto this fine thread by bigears. Not nearly as much work as he had put in, but...

From the 6th April 1994 issue of F1 News.

I've always found it odd that there is not a detailed history of Osella's F1 attempt anywhere on the Web. Even Life seems to be better documented than them. Osella must be the most overlooked team in Formula One's history. Right after Theodore :)

I also find it odd that a review of Osella's history written in English never mentions the bilingual bonus that was the 1988 Osella FA1L.

Yes, they did indeed fail to mention the FA1L!

For the very keen, there is an entire book on Enzo Osella and his team. It was originally published in Italian, but, somewhat amazingly, an English version is available!

That price hurts. I wonder if Red Bull could spare a bit of their vast wealth?

The FA1L always made me chuckle - ironically it was one of their least unsuccessful cars (high praise indeed).

Worth clarifying something from the Christopher Hilton article there - Paletti was extracted from the car quickly and without any burns (Pironi helped, shades of Guy Edwards and others saving Niki Lauda in 1976), it was the chest injuries from the original impact that took him.

this is my first post to the forum after lurking forever :)

I always thought the FA1L looked like a really tidy looking car, shame it was just plain awful on the track.
