Project unracedF1.com

Post by f1-gast »

Well since a few years i was one of the guys that came with info about F1 teams and cars that never made it, never raced on a race, for the holylist on http://8w.forix.com/6thgear/neverraced.html .

Since i made this topic just before Xmass a lot of ideas and updates came.
Now the big step will be made, for the first time in history, there will be a Formula 1 website pure bassed on those Teams and cars that sadly never made it to the formula 1.
The domain is already registed on http://www.unracedf1.com
It is an open project and anyone that wants to help or has information feel free to contact on the forum or just on [email protected]

Soon the first page will be online so there will be a good preview !

Maybe these are some great criteria of unracedF1 cars;
* Weak Rumours about a team to enter the Formula 1 / Grandprix
* Strong Rumours about a team to enter the formul a1 / Grandprix
* The existing of drwanings of F1 / GP cars
* The existing of unfinished F1 / GP Projects
* F1 / GP Cars that only have been tested
* F1 / GP cars that failed to start a race
* F1 / GP cars that never came though the qualifying
* F1 / GP cars that should appeared on a track but never did (as example Phoenix)
* Second life F1 / GP cars ( as example the Apollon)
* Experimental cars, that only have been driven during free practice or testing, though it should have a diffrent model number like the Mclaren M26E

Thanks a lot so far for the support.
F1Rejects kicks ass !!!!

I am interested. How serious would the efforts had to have been? Prodrive had a place on the grid, but no chassis (just the promise of an old McLaren). myf1dream applied but had nothing more than the wishes of a child.

only problem is the period between 88 and 96 since not maybe sites where online back then.

Over at engineeringF1 I posted up information about staff members who worked for USF1/USGPE:

http://engineeringf1.free.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=367

I would love to get in contact with someone who was at the team and find out how early they realised that it wasn't going to happen, how competitive they thought they could be compared to HRT/Lotus/Virgin etc.

Do you have a link to the document or something? What kind of information do you want on teams?

It will be great to have someone else active on the site! At the moment it's just three people, and I'm the most regular (the owner is currently doing a project within French motorsport, so that uses most of his time).

Interesting that you know Mike Fuller - how long did it take him to realise that USF1 wouldn't be on the grid? Bob Varsha was doing an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit last month, I asked what impression he got of USF1 when he looked round in 2010, he said:

I thought USF1, the last time I saw it, was in great shape, with milling machines running everywhere, great espirt de corps, and the first monocoque coming out of the molds. Sad. It will be a long time until we see someone else try, unless there is massive corporate backing, which is tough to find these days. USF1 had some great ideas, and the concept they were following was sound. Really, really, trick American technology was lined up for that car.

Goodness knows what counts as "trick American technology". Maybe a sick flame decal along the side.

Check out the link I posted in this other thread:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5098

Mike Fuller helped Jonathan Ingram with the article, so it'd say it is a very accurate reflection of the events and of the operation of the team.

grandprix.com has news from 1995, but no earlier. Here's a story about the attempt to revive the Vanwall name: http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns00242.html

EDIT: Nicolas Dura just posted these...which makes me suspicious that Nicolas Dura is one of us:

But i can't find the source anymore...

People are free to make their lists right ?
Im also one of the guy that gave Forix lots of info about abandoned F1 teams etc im also mentioned over there as Author, so let people do what they want :)
I have the contacts here and there to receive my info, glad if someone uses it for their own :)

Got a additional node about the Eyckmans F1 Team.

I forgot that i have spoken to Wim Eyckmans, and he told me he never said he would start its own Formula 1 team.
He just told me that it where mis understandings from the media, kinda weird.

For the Ikazuwa project, i will add copies of my tweets with Peter Windsor

Here's what I've found out about the Arno F1 project:

Arno F1
The Arno project was planned to be the first Dutch formula one team. It was funded, designed and built by Arno van Dijk in 1972. The car was ready, and painted in orange and white. But van Dijk didn’t find a Formula 1 engine for the car. At first, it was planned to be powered by a Tecno engine, but after Tecno folded down at the end of 1973, Arno planned to use an Alfa Romeo engine instead, but this plan also never materialized. Peter van Zwan was intended to drive the car.

The car was fitted with a Ford GT40 engine in 1973. It would have been eligible for Formula 5000, but I couldn’t find any results tables indicating that the car ever ran in an official event.

Does anyone know something about the team Alain Prost was rumoured to put up for the 1990 season? These rumours began in June or July 1989, when everybody knew Alain was fed up of McLaren and wanted to go elsewhere. I read in an old Brazilian magazine that he wanted to create a team with John Barnard as technical director, support from Peugeot, Air France and Apple Computers (!!) and Ivan Capelli as the sole driver. Prost himself said at that time he dreamed about having his own team, but this project vanished as he realized that would be really tough to start a team from scratch.

In fact, Mansell became a majority shareholder of Madgwick Motorsport in Formula 3000 after having purchased 51% of its stocks in 1990. But I haven't heard anything about a F1 outfit.

On the other hand, there were some rumours about Nelson Piquet becoming a team owner in 1990.

I remember this. It was a story blown out of proportion by Sport Auto in France based on a comment from Alain Prost. The magazine mocked up fictitious cars and used artistic license to use Peugeot, Air France and Apple as sponsors.

There is one car that can be forgotten for the list.
As seen a few times on the internet, Dome was planning to make an F106 after the F105.
But this is not correct i received an email from the R&D Dep. from Dome about it.

Dear Mr.Jasper Heijmans,

This is Hiroshi Yuchi from Dome R&D.

First of all, thank you for your interest to Dome.

Further to your question about F106, F106 is formula 3 car, not formula 1 car.
Therefore, there is no formula 1 for us ecept for F105.

This story is interesting and I just came across it: there was a bizarre project of a wholly female Formula 1 team for the 1994 season. This team would have two female drivers, Cesare Fiorio as the technical director, Forti-Corse F-3000 team as a partner and Johnson & Johnson (through O.B. tampons) as primary sponsor. Unfortunately (and as expected), it didn't succeed.

This has piqued my interest. 1994 was the first F1 season I followed in full and passionately, having has a gradually building interest before then. I'm still surprised at the length of time since the last woman driver to enter a GP, especially given the number who have entered the Indy 500 in recent years, plus a few in DTM, Le Mans, etc. It just hasn't translated into F1 yet, has it?

This information was released in Brazilian newspaper "O Estado de São Paulo" at the end of 1993, in a moment when the project was already all but folded up. I trust on this because there were Brazilian investors on the team (Carlo Gancia and Diniz family) and the journalists could have used them as sources.

And as far as I understood, the team would also be named Forti-Corse - that was the first time, and not in 1994, that Guido Forti disclosed his Formula 1 plans.

Unfortunately, I didn't find anything else. Perhaps we can get something from Italian media (Autosprint?).

Well im gonna check some stuff about it.
Sounds super a formula 1 team with 2 female drivers.

Between does someone know more about the Dallara 3087 read yesterday about it in an article i found here.
Posted this already on aerogi's forum;
The Dallara 3087 with Alex Caffi

I don't know much about it only it entered the Brazilian GP of 1988 it was 18sec to slow in the pre qualification.
And it was officially an F3000 car, and the last non F1 car that entered a GP.
