Re: 2018 Belgian Grand Prix thread

Quite the turn-up for Force India given the week they've had! Of course they've always done well on low-downforce tracks and had their best ever result here, but still... Let's just hope they don't throw it away by binning it into each other tomorrow!

Interesting that he has kept the door open to returning in his statement - I can't believe we'll see him back in F1 though, particularly not at McLaren! I also don't believe his claims that he'll have fond memories of the team... I've never been a fan of Alonso, but I have developed a sort of grudgi...

Re: The 2019 Silly Season thread

You'd think Ricciardo would be sick of their engines, but he obviously doesn't fancy Honda much. I suspect he's had promises of the team being built around him, which isn't good news for Hulkenberg.

A surprisingly entertaining race! Loved the Mercedes-Ferrari top four battle at the end, and I'm glad Vettel was able to win to keep the championship very interesting. Credit to Hamilton for making it all the way back up to second, though.

Gutting for Ricciardo, with Hamilton going out he could have been back up there in the title race if he'd stayed in. Nice to see both Mercedes go out to liven things up, and great for all those masses of Dutch fans that Verstappen got the win!

I'm so pleased for Ricciardo - when he came on the radio to say he had no power, I thought, "Oh no, not again!" Obviously we don't know quite what the issue was yet, but he seems to have done a stellar job to keep it in the lead at probably the only track where that would have been a possi...

Poor old Vettel, and poor old us in terms of getting a title fight. It's almost unbelievable. As Brundle said in commentary this morning, it must be about 25 years since the last time a spark plug failed on an F1 car.

It's on days like this when McLaren's continual grid penalties become so frustrating, because you think that on a level playing field Alonso could have a stellar day. But I suppose the rules are the same for everyone, and it's their own damn fault for throwing their lot in with Honda.
