Death.

Explain please? :?

The Firestone Firehawk 600 was cancelled because of safety concerns, mostly about the high g-forces. The drivers were getting tunnel vision and stuff.

Re: Di Resta to Mercedes in 2013? - 2013 Silly Season Thread

Drivers should be judged on: (i) performance relative to team mate (ii) improvement in performance over time (iii) quality of feedback to engineers (iv) consistency You need about 5-10 races to make an assessment based on these criteria, allowing for unfortunate crashes and one-off circumstances. I wish people wouldn't say "rally" when they mean "rallycross race" or "historic race" or anything else that's not a rally.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Canada!

3rd: HRT's brakes. Brake failure at Canada isn't a new concept, but come on.
2nd: Jacques Villeneuve should just shut up already.
1st: Jenson Button, because are there seriously any other options?

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition

I like the version where everyone votes better. It doesn't really "slow anything down", and it's better to have everyone's opinion decide the winner than just one person.

Re: He Sounds Quick: A Guide to Great Racing Names

I think you pronounce the beginning of Giacomelli the same as Giancarlo.

Anyway, Yves Giraud-Cabantous sounds quite old-timey.

Re: Reject (or not) track design.

David AGS made a joke about a Grand Prix in Malta on the "Shortest F1 Books" thread, so I figured I'd make this.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Monaco

Pastor Maldonado. The crash during practice was enough, but then he even blew the race which, with all the traditional Monégasque attrition that went on, he could've gotten points in.

Re: Di Resta to Mercedes in 2013? - 2013 Silly Season Thread

I don't know anything about anything, but here's what I think anyway. Italicised drivers have contracts for 2013 with the teams with which they are listed, for what that's worth. Red Bull: Vettel , Webber I don't think Webber will underperform enough to be kicked out. Neither of the Toro Rosso drive...
