Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

I don't really understand why Alonso has signed for Aston Martin. I can only think that Alpine must have decided that, for whatever reason, they didn't want him for next year. Even if Aston improve dramatically, they surely won't be any further ahead than Alpine next year? Of course it could be a lo...

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

It's almost as if Ferrari are doing it on purpose now, isn't it?

Weird to have a race where Verstappen was such an unexpected winner!

Great to have a three-team battle. Let's hope it continues through the rest of the season after the summer break!

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

Wow, that was a bit of a race wasn't it? I'm very glad that Zhou and everyone else involved in those first lap incidents are okay. But the race itself was like watching an F3 race at times - cars running in such long lines nose-to-tail, and even almost four abreast at times! And that action at the e...

Not quite the madhouse I was hoping for, but it held the interest, and it wasn't quite the procession for Verstappen at the front that it might have been.

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

What a nightmare for Ferrari - and what a turnaround from Red Bull's double-DNF in the opening race. That's a reminder that these things can easily swing back-and-forth, of course, but with the suspicion cast by those other Ferrari failures today from the customer teams too... It's starting to look ...

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

Mind you, even Croft and Brundle seemed a little off-the-boil today - neither of them appeared to make any comment at all on the fact that Perez had passed Leclerc, the race leader, in the first round of stops. I'm pleased for Perez, as I expect most people are. Even though it's always frustrating w...

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

Well, that was a strange end to the session! Unfortunate for Perez, who'd looked so good - I hope he can start in his position. Is Monaco *still* the only race coverage provided by the local broadcaster, even after last year's shambles? If so, they once again didn't cover themselves in glory in that...

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

That was certainly a livelier Spanish Grand Prix than usual. I do understand and appreciate why Perez is unhappy, but in my heart of hearts I can't see him having been able to keep Verstappen behind him for very long if he'd been allowed to, even with the Dutchman's DRS issues. And you can understan...

Re: 2022 Discussion Thread

A shame it wasn't a closer battle at the front, but still plenty of interest going on. Well done to Albon and Williams for making that strategy work to nab a point - sadly we didn't see it, but from the timings it looked very close with Zhou Guanyu when he came out at the end there!

You have to stand up and salute Hamilton for pulling that off, though. But great that we had a race which kept...
