Re: Best ever Minardi driver?

I think Fittipaldi/Martini partnership was the best, this was between British and Portuguese GPs in 1993. Barbazza wasn't that good although he scored points twice.

If we look careers drivers had best partnership was Martini&Alboreto but Alboreto (RIP) was past his best already.

Re: F1 car numbers under the pre-1996 system

Well, between 1990-1994 all new teams ( Life, Jordan, Andrea Moda, Sauber, Simtek, Pacific ) always got biggest numbers, unlike in few years earlier, like Rial (single car team) got 22 when they started, Onyx got 36/37 ahead of Rial and AGS. Forti got 21/22 when they started and break the tradition ...

Other reason was Ferrari struggle -

Ferrari had V12 => V12 needs more fuel than others => Ferrari needed more fuel at the start => Ferrari cars were heavier than others.

Even the hapless 2 year old Brabham would have scored a point ?!? Who was at the wheel and where? Damon Hill in Silverstone? Hill in Hungary. Re: Nosecone destruction championship

I decided that causing another driver to retire would give you triple points. So it's three points for normal situation and six points with your second nosecone. I think that deciding factor is on which car you destroy your front wing. So if car A (A loses front wing) hits car B and car B hits then ...

Re: Submit A Reject

To be honest on Magnussen, McLaren's 1995 car was quite awful. In his first and only race that year he finished 2.5 seconds behind regular driver Blundell which was not too bad for a debutant, although Blundell wasn't top driver either. His 1997 season was awful (would have been obvious candidate fo...

Re: Nosecone destruction championship

Barrichello had his front wing damaged in collision with Räikkönen around lap 8 in Melbourne, so he doesn't deserve bonus. But it's good idea to give bonus points if other driver retires.

Nosecone destruction championship

Well, I have collected the damaged front wings this year. Here's what I have caught so far this year. Only ones where driver pits and continues are counted, so if you retire from the crash, that doesn't count. I think bonus must be awarded if driver destroys two front wings in same race. So second o...

Re: Your Favourite Reject RACE????

Canadian GP 1989 needs mention (wasn't following F1 at that time but what I have read/seen from highlights) - Johnny Herbert in a Benetton didn't qualify - A total of 18 teams had cars in the race, so only eight teams had two - Mansell and Nannini starting from pit lane before race had started - Ste...

Re: Reject of the race leaderboard

Fisico got two last year even he had worst car on the grid (Sutil had one too), so it's not doen to machinery every time. But in all those cases they made errors. If top driver has bad race then he's quite often given RotR. Without checking I think Michael got ones: Malaysia 2003 Monaco 2004 China 2...

I was sometimes thinking old races and who would got RotR. I may post a list in a few days. Myself, I have followed all races since 1993 (or late 1992).

Salo would take easily at least one: Hungarian GP 1999.

Speaking about drivers, Yuji Ide seems to have highest RotR rate with 25%. Of those who have received one, Nick Heidfeld has smallest I think (1 in about 140 races, taking account the races where RotR was not chosen which means mostly races of early 2000) Meanwhile, Liuzzi has the record of getting ...

Renault entered three cars in Portuguese GP 1984 (Philippe Streiff) and German GP 1985 (Francois Hesnault) and in those races the grid was expanded, I think they didn't want any regular driver to miss the race because of additional entry.
