Race attrition and terrible seasons for reliability!

These days the attrition rate can be zero, but not so long ago it was fairly common for 30/40% of cars to not make it to the finish of a Grand Prix. Observe the 1998 season- where only 4 teams didn't suffer chronic reliability issues: m Observe the incredible attrition rate of 1999, which although 1...

What makes you say that?

Massa hasn't finished above 5th for 24 races.
Meanwhile his teammate (remember Massa said he is no number 2) has managed this SIXTEEN TIMES.

Re: Is 2012 settleing in?

I really wouldn't rule out Mercedes, or even Ferrari. It sounds silly including Ferrari but it's such a long season. Look at 2010: m Apart from a fairly anomalous Bahrain GP, Alonso only registered 1 podium from the season beginning to the German 2010 GP win that he stole from Felipe Massa. After th...

They've all been complaining about the potential cost. But does anyone think that they've just this second start to develop their own version? Most of the moneyed teams will have figured their own out by Spain or Monaco surely.

I think Massa might be a good shout actually- get this:

He's the only driver outside of the new teams to have no points after 3 races. Worse than that, 13th place being his best finishing position so far.

Re: F1 Rejects Forum Ratings - R3 China

Senna 6 - if he keeps up like this, this will be a nothing special for him I think Williams will take a 6th and a 7th from 3 races from Senna, after last season. I think 'nothing special' is being beaten by 3 HRT teammates, then having one top 10 finish in 8 races for Renault. This season promises ...

In a race where we lacked any big rejectful moment, I say Toro Rosso. If this keeps going on STR, I imagine another 2 drivers going into the slaughterhouse. That's what they did do. It was always going to happen. It wasn't even close- Raikkonen yielded with 6 laps left.

Grosjean, who was driving slower in a slower car had the right strategy and finished 6th.

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - '12 Chinese G

Amazed Massa's appalling strategy that failed, that led to him backing up nearly all the runners and then resulted in him slipping down the grid to 13th, and being 5 seconds behind Alonso after Alonso threw his car off the road, was somehow worthy of praise. In 2010 the guy was beating Alonso on rac...

Re: Commentary on PDVSA's involvement in formula 1 and moral

Chavez' problem like so many others is that he never understood when to leave, or established a chain of succession that was democractic and didn't involve him. Ego as usual. The 3 weeks have come at a very good time for them. Re: Felipe baby will he last the season & who could replace

Unless Perez is outstanding in the following races and Massa continues to flounder to the point of embarrassment, the move to replace Felipe won't take place until the end of this season of F1. I think the Badoer/Fisichella incident has probably chastened Ferrari and they'd be unlikely to repeat a s...

Re: The 2012 Unrejectifying Discussion Topic

Grosjean has every opportunity to unrejectify, but I might opt for Paul Di Resta, who's always been steady and puts himself in a place to score points in nearly every GP. He needs a 5th or two 6ths to do it. Maybe Force India aren't quite as quick this year, but expect the usual attrition in the mid...

All that is true, but what is also true is that Perez was a few tenths behind and closing at 1.5s a lap, with 5 laps left.

I'm resigned to it being down to driver error but it infuriates me when the win was there for the taking and Alonso again benefits.

Re: 2012 Malaysia Grand Prix Discussion Thread

Alonso would never have risked a collision with Perez either as he himself might not be in that position often this season. Tempted with Grosjean but the disparity between his and Alonso's performance is embarrassing.

Re: 2012 Malaysia Grand Prix Discussion Thread

I'm not suggesting it was a conspiracy, I'm just saying there's a lot of coincidences if it wasn't.
