Re: Your Reject of the Race - Spain

Picking Ferrari , partially because there's no standout choice. Their fumbling with team orders is not new, but was unimpressive. Letting Leclerc pass Vettel quickly potentially would've given him a chance at Verstappen. Vettel and Leclerc both had slow pitstops - given the gun worked fine later it ...

Re: 2019 Spainish Grand Prix - Predicament Predictions!

Am I allowed to submit this late? 1. Valtteri Bottas 2. Charles Leclerc 3. Lewis Hamilton 4. Max Verstappen 5. Pierre Gasly 6. Daniil Kvyat 7. Daniel Ricciardo 8. Lando Norris 9. Carlos Sainz 10. Kimi Raikkonen Pole: Already happened Fastest lap: Valtteri Bottas First retirement: Sebastian Vettel Re...

Re: F1 Dreams

I had a dream once where I was trying to contact Kimi Raikkonen and invite him to one of my local pool-playing meets I did at the time. It was, I believe 2012 - yet in spite of that Raikkonen was racing for McLaren at the time and his teammate was Montoya. So I went onto the internet to McLaren's we...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Bahrain

I nominate Leclerc . Moral victor, he's certainly made a name for himself - even if the results weren't his way. Hulkenberg . Who, like Leclerc, drove a great race ruined by mechanical failure. Norris and Albon as well. Both got points. I'd add Russell - he looks good but he's hard to judge - no amo...

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Bahrain

Leclerc's luck deserves a mention. I wanted him to win, he thoroughly deserved it. At least Hamilton acknowledged that he'd lucked into this win. Renault are deserving of it. Both cars going off at the same point is pretty embarrassing. Hulkenberg was one of the best performers in the race, but it ...

IIDOTR - Australia

Easy choice on this one, Valtteri Bottas. He was in a league of his own.

Second place goes to Stroll, I guess. He jumped Kvyat at the start, called the strategy correctly and bagged a solid points finish from a Q1 elimination.

Reject of the Race - Australia

I give second place to the obstacle (a bollard?) Daniel Ricciardo hit . He was not at all far off the track when he clipped the bollard. It's not quite on the level of a loose drain cover, but it's still an inexcusable happening. Reject of the Race goes to Ferrari . Mercedes and Verstappen annihilat...

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Brazil

Another dishonorable mention to Sirotkin - on the grid he talked about the possibility of rain or snow.

Not much snow in Brazil, especially around November, which is their Summer!

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Brazil

10 points: Ocon - that was completely stupid. He's clearly feeling the pressure now, but it begs the question of whether he's anything better than a strong midfielder. 6 points: Alonso - One of the greats stuck in a useless car, getting flustered and ignoring blue flags was painful to watch. Dishono...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Brazil

10 points: The Red Bull car - Something of a near-miss regarding a great result, but honestly looked like the best car this time around. Been a while since I've thought that. Without Ricciardo's grid penalty, I imagine he'd have at least beaten Raikkonen (possibly Hamilton) and Verstappen threw vict...

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Hungary

Sauber has to be my nomination. Both cars involved in incidents on Lap 1. We'll never know what Leclerc might have done, but given Ericsson was closer to the Williams' than to anyone else, it's hard to believe the Sauber was capable of much. Mercedes , with regret. I can't vote them first as Hamilt...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Hungary

I'll be the first to vote for Sebastian Vettel. His tyres lasted impressively long, and ultimately his pace threatened Mercedes enough to ruin Bottas' strategy in order to secure Hamilton the win. This secured Ferrari a double podium.

6 points for Pierre Gasly. Best of the rest.

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Spain

10 points - Wehrlein: got lucky with his strategy, but he could've easily lost more places. 6 points - Toro Rosso: strong showing from them. Kvyat came back from near last on the grid; however Sainz also had traffic for nearly the entire race so they were probably quite close pacewise. Not mentionin...

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Spain

10 points: Stroll. I don't care about him being a newbie; the fact is Massa beat him despite an extremely incident-strewn afternoon. There's no excuse for that.

6 points: Vandoorne. He was absolutely blind!!

Re: Infinite Improbablity Drive of the Race - Mexico

1. Hulkenberg - strong drive. Qualified very well and it's hard to imagine he could've done much more with the Force India. 2. Vettel - although it's hard to tell if other drivers could've pulled off something similar if given his strategy. The medium tyres didn't really seem like they gave a great ...

1. Nasr - Was he even there?

2. Haas - Trailed the field.

HM: Raikkonen - not dreadful but really uninspiring.

Re: 2016 Mexican Grand Prix Thread

The opportunity was there. The opportunity was right there, and all Nico had to do was choke, but he didn't On the basis that Nico didn't choke, I'm actually starting to believe he could win this championship He could still cock it up in the race when it actually matters (a duff start and he could ...
