Re: What If?

Yeah, it would be tempting to see cars trimmed to explosion point in qualies and producing more horsepower than now if finances weren't an issue, even at the cost of getting some teams dominate it again. Would help with attrition rates at least ^^ and if you combined 'almost' unlimited engines with ...

Re: What If?

Unlimited engine rules? That has a financially nasty sound, like a max 10 car grid nowadays .. or if someone more knowledgeable could please explain, how would the privateer teams have been able to cope financially?

I guess I don't need to explain on this website why F1 needs more than 8-10 cars.

Re: Unpopular F1 opinions

Strip off aero, strip off drs, keep Pirelli the way they are.

The artificiality problem isn't caused by the tyres in my opinion, tyres are the thing that make the races eventful at all, with cars going around the track with differing speeds.

Yeah, but it doesn't actually matter in which sector the time difference is when the eventual laptime is x seconds slower.

Re: The end is near for Felipe?

Point is, comparing sector times is utterly useless given that only laptime counts; the drivers often run differing setups with differences at the car's handling through various types of corner combinations, which - assuming that Massa was one of the drivers to opt for a setup favoring Sectors Two a...

I don't think it had anything to do with Gilles' death, just the system that was in place? Iirc the numbers were introduced in 1974 based on the previous year's constructor standings (Lotus 1-2, Tyrrell 3-4, Mclaren 5-6 etc) and after that the new drivers champion's team swapped numbers with the one...

I feel for Narain and Pedro, it's not very easy to give all you can on your hotlap while watching your mirrors to avoid bothering any angry overpaid overeager finger wavers. It should be the faster cars duty not to get stuck in traffic and leave enough space in front of you, not the other way round.

I have also been on the side of giving points to only top 6 or top 8 - in my view, in Formula 1 it must be a big achievement to score even one point for a smaller team; I can still vividly remember the joy of Minardi the few times when they managed it.
