Re: Legendary Races

I've posted about Belgium '98 before on here - I was about 12 years old, and I remember we were at a rather posh garden party at a friend of my dad's place. There was no-one else there of my age so I was bored out of my head until I remembered there was a GP that weekend, so I sneaked off into the l...

It must have surprised the commentators - they forgot to shout "CRAASHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Also, as someone has already said in the comments, watch the driver of the blue car attempt to "do a Barrichello" at 30 seconds, only for his steering wheel to bounce straight back into hi...

Re: Worst Non-Reject team liveries

2000 Minardi (Fluorescent yellow) I actually really liked that one. Liveries I hated included the late-90s red Williams (Williams cars are blue and white or Saudia green and white - anything else is wrong), and the last Lotuses of 1993-4 - a tonne of logos floating around all over the place and no ...

Joakim Bonnier. Despite an F1 career lasting from the mid-50s to the early 70s, his win in the 1959 Dutch GP was his only podium finish. (Do one-off race wins count?) Also, off the top of my head I can recall Reine Wisell, Ludovico Scarfiotti (I think his win was his only podium, anyway) and the Ony...

Re: Legendary Races

To be complete, Daly didn't retire directly because of the crash. His car had no front or back wing, which meant he had to drive quite slowly, effectively drowning the electric system. One account I've got states that when he spun and knocked the rear wing off, he also broke the gearbox casing, and...

Other than working out when Schumacher would win his title, I've refrained from guessing - I think it's more fun to see what Bleu comes out with. Keep up the good work!

To me, the mid-80s was when the era of proper rejects began - I can't wait to see how many will be unrejectified!

Re: Another kind of alternative championship

I'm really interested in the 2000s, when Schumacher dominated. He's probably going to get his title in 1994 or 1995, leaving five or six orphaned titles. Having taken a quick look at the tables, I'd guess at Schumacher winning in 1992! This will be very interesting to follow - keep up the good work...

Lotus could well do I reckon towards the end of the season, but for Virgin or HRT to get near the points it really would have to be a race of Adelaide 1995 or Monaco 1996 proportions. I was thinking while watching Le Mans last weekend - there seem to be three "classes" within F1 at the mom...

There are several worthy candidates for this one, but my nomination goes to Vitaly Petrov. He has impressed me on occasions this year, but yesterday he looked exactly like the clueless pay-driver I thought he would be at the beginning of the season (if that sentence makes sense!).
