Re: Virgin fuel tank not big enough

Virgin made a silly amater error. The fuel tank needs to be over 180Litres for the distance at least! Its common sense. HRT might not last however there cars have finished 5 out the 8 races (very slow though) and virgin....Once! Sponsor of course wants results but also finishes. I could see virgin p...

Re: Ride Height Adjusting Systems deemed illegal

Jordan192 is right the system would be illegal. However the FIA have checked over the Red Bulls chassic and nothing was illegal on the car.

To me the gas ride height system is really a smart way round the rules and other teams lost out.

Mclaren or Mercedes look really good in Malaysia, however in the second practice whiched I watched live Torro Rosso isnt to slow either. I hope its a mix day of weather so the results can be different. (note HRT catching up slowly good luck and Senna for the win lol)

I feel that the idea of F1 is to be open with rules and design. And seeing KERS return and letting team choose on how the system can be used is a huge step foward for the sport and engineering.

Re: More pitstops to increase spectacle?

Tyre wars to me are important. The idea of f1 is to have the best engineering techinal in the paddock. Also David Couthard blames Max Mosley and calleds for mandatory pitstops which wont help at all http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/82186

Re: More pitstops to increase spectacle?

Go back too the early 90's rules. Optional pitstops and maybe also look at the tracks. The new tracks are far too common these days. Long straight and heavy braking. That doesnt tend to increse overtaking. Rival tyre compays e.g Michelin Goodyear and others make it more intresting and also one tyre ...

Great review IdeFan. Just a question here. Lotus and Virgin seem quite good. Will Hispaina get better? And do they have the funds for the season? I think Jean Told is againest the 107% rule. Even though on Autosport he said that the rule could come back next year Jean knows that the last time the rule came in the grid shrinked to 22 cars. Personally its not fair if the small new teams dont get a chance to race againest the big rich teams.

Re: Venting about McLaren's vent

The air duct is a superb idea and a smart engineering idea from Mclaren. The idea of F1 is to create and yes it does cost money eg: running windtunnels testing developing the duct. However making the rules supertight does not cut cost. I say good on Mclaren and shame the other 12 teams. Mario enter ...

It also depends on the engines. Ferrari and mercedes might save fuel because the engine designs for the cars like weight power etc but cosworth teams might need to drive slower to save the fuel.

In a few years time the shark cover fins will be old news and a team say Red Bull will find another engineering invention and teams will moan and complain (2009 Diffuser issue). To me Formula One has to many rules this and that. Same with engines just V8s. I wish that the FIA open the rules a bit.
