Re: Qualifying tyres to return?

Tyres that are only good for one fast lap?

Isn't that what pirelli have been calling the "medium" compound this year? ;)

Re: Trulli's car falling apart during the race

Usually, I find Jarno's column for Repubblica not that good (he's not a very good writer), but this time he gives a painful insight on how it feels like driving for a rejectful team (my translation): ...I overtook Glock, I was catching up and about to change to slicks, when a suspension piece broke...

Re: Ponderbox

Watching a bit of the French Moto GP, makes me wonder could F1 go to the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit for the French Grand Prix ? F1 will never go there. They did in 66 (or was it 67?) and the track was so bad for F1 racing that they swore to never ever race there again. The only track that they won't e...

Re: List of F1 drivers' road cars

Chandhok - Skoda Superb Should I feel sorry for Karun or are Skoda cars actually half decent now? Skoda are part of Volkswagen these days, and the Superb is basically a Slightly longer version of the Passat, which is in turn a slightly cheaper version of the Audi A6. So, pretty decent. If you reall...

Re: Hypothetical question - consequences of no regulations?

A good benchmark for the "lets go totally nuts on aero" thought experiment is to look at the early 90s - IMSA GTP and last throes of the World Sportscar championship: the (not very successful due to woeful reliability) allard J2X is possibly the most extreme: m Those cars were making much ...

Senna, The Opera.

m “Well, we now know the title and subject matter the new opera he's shepherding to stage for the Metropolitan Opera and English National Opera. Senna, as it is called, will have music by post-minimalist composer Michael Torke and libretto by Korie; the opera concerns the Brazilian Formula 1 world c...

Re: Ferrari's New Editorial

It's harmful for the sport, because when DTM, GT or WTCC come in Italy there is absolutely no crowd, poor attendances, people only go to the track to see Ferrari F1. To be fair, it's quite a bit like that in the UK. the only meeting that gets attendances even close to half of what the Grand Prix ge...

Re: British GP to be at Silverstone for next 17 years

I suppose this is because the current location of the pits blocks the view of the area from the grandstands on the current main straight. The old pits aren't being demolished. The real reason to move the pits is to get two functional pit lanes, so they can run full meetings on the National and Sout...

Re: FOTA chose breakaway series!!

I think I have a memory of a top level series which tried to focus its rules around manufuncturer teams and thought it could survive without privateer teams... now what was it called? Oh right. World Sportscar championship. And guess what? It died after Privateers found themselves unable to compete...

Re: Likely tracks for breakaway series

As far as tracks go, within the EU at least any moves or clauses preventing a track with a deal with f1 holding another race for a "competing" series would likely be illegal under EU competition law - this goes back the FIA's investigations in the mid-90s and the deals done with CART not t...
