Re: Reject of the Race - Abby Dabby 2021

This is probably the worst possible ending I could imagine to what is the best title fight. A deliberate crash by Max would have stung far less than this farce. Totally ruined a great season of racing between two of the best drivers in the history of our sport. Max doesn't need to win like this , he...

Re: Reject of the Race - Belgium 2021

Seeing as there's no main thread I want to say that I'm not sure I fully agree with the shade being thrown at the stewards and Michael Masi. Yes , they should probably have not strung everyone along as much as they did and have given more useful updates ("no action for next 30 mins , will re-ev...

Re: Reject of the Race - Belgium 2021

Been a while since I was last here - been busy with life , work , etc .. Guess it's the rain cloud which kept dumping water onto the circuit , never clearing up enough so we could actually have the cars racing safely . Checo also binning it under the recce lap also is pretty rejectful too. Let's see...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Azerbaijan

Can I give this one to the entire podium!?

Awesome drives for all of them , in their own ways - Checo holding off Lewis for so long before getting the lead , Seb Vettel with a genius strategy and drive too to P2 , and Pierre Gasly really fought his way past Leclerc very well!

Re: Reject of the Race - Azerbaijan

1/ Pirelli - I do think the teams have some blame trying to run the tyres for so long , but I think that it is unacceptable to have the tyres fail without any warning , and at 200+mph to boot , caused two horrific crashes. 2/ Bottas . Jesus. P14 on legitimate pace in an apparantly healthy Merc!? Get...

Lets make the Monaco GP better with some individual pursuits

[Edited to make clearer the conditions when a match should be over ahead of scheduled laps] I thought I'd improve the Monaco GP as per Lewis Hamilton's comments - yesterday's race convinced me that with current cars at least it is virtually pointless having the cars race each other with the circuit ...

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Monaco 2021

Vettel - Racing Point got the strategy absolutely spot on , more so than their more senior teams and Seb took full advantage of things.

Gasly - I was quite impressed how he was able to not be fazed for so long with Hamilton chasing him the whole race , so I'll nominate him.

Re: Reject of the Race - Monaco 2021

Mercedes Strategists. I'm struggling to understand what they were trying to accomplish trying to put Hamilton in first when it was clear Bottas's tyres were finished and he needed to pit very soon to avoid dropping off. There's no way Merc should have been racing Gasly for undercuts. I'd have expec...

Re: Ponderbox

It always seems strange to me to hear of “fans” getting bored of F1 being dominated by Mercedes / Red Bull / Ferrari / McLaren / Williams etc as it makes me think they’re missing the point of it. I couldn't agree more. What Mercedes is doing is pretty much unrivalled across all sport - to have domi...

Re: What things do you miss from older F1 races?

Cars being pushed over the edge in terms of relibility and breaking down - I feel having drivers losing results due to car breakdowns really emphasised how much a team game F1 was. Lewis Hamilton shared on Instagram a fascinating video on team strategy by F1TV showing the Merc strategists talking ab...

Would be an interesting rider in his contract , having a VHS tape of his past race delivered to him every week or so :)

Re: Driver Profile: Bruno Senna

That would be fascinating to see also , especially as in the modern era having drivers come into F1 late and then doing well seems nigh-on impossible - the most famous example being Damon Hill who was in his thirties when he started out for Brabham. If I'm not mistaken I can only think of Andre Lott...

Re: Murray Walker (1923 - 2021)

The best tribute I can pay to Murray, whom I only knew years after he retired, is the following: I've recently passed my C1 level English examination, with flying colours: in fact, Cambridge says that my level of ability is equal to a C2 (the highest one you can obtain). I'm certain that a non-insi...

I'm also in agreement with Leclerc getting nominated , although it's a shame George Russell faded away towards the end as it looked as if he might steal an unlikely point

Valterri Bottas -Another demonstration of how he's not fast enough in the race , and then he tries to make life difficult for Lewis Hamilton when he's asked to step aside. Should have been closing Max down as well I felt in the second stint to put pressure on him from behind. Sauber pit crew - How ...

Re: 2021 Silly Season Thread

It might be very difficult commercially but I feel that we really need to have non-championship Formula 1 events in the calendar . I agree with this because I think it'll be the junior drivers that'll be fielded. Hamilton, Verstappen etc won't want to risk an injury/won't see the point if there's n...

Re: Unpopular F1 opinions

I have been having very similar experiences of much of the races following Rosberg's retirement. I think in most part it is Hamilton's ultrareliability that is causing me to forget. I vividly remember when he blew up in Malaysia 16 and in Austria 18, but yeah (other than last weekend of course) oth...

Re: 2021 Silly Season Thread

It's going to be interesting to see how it all turns out in the end. More racing, sure, but it brings up many questions of how points and prizes are handed out, and whether or not these "controlled costs" will in fact just spiral out of control yet again. More racing, sure, but does this ...

2. Botthas. Someone please give me a good reason why Mercedes keep renewing his contract? Unfortunately Lewis Hamilton. I think, as long as Hamilton stays, Bottas stays. Mick Schumacher So glad to see him drive so well today , and overtake a Williams even with a Haas , after an awful weekend last time out. And even more glad to see him destroy Mazepin too. Kimi Raikonnen - Having watched one of the historic Monaco races , where Jean Alesi got rear-ended by Marco Werner , I didn't think I'd see a current driver repeat the same trick the following weekend , and do so to his team-mate. I know these F1 steering wheels are like mini-computers with so many...

Thought I'd come along and join in the fun having been a very long time lurker - known of F1 Rejects for probably at least a decade and really loved the biographies on the former site . Understand it will be difficult to get them back but I'm quite happy with what's come out of it with GP Rejects an...
