Have you tried doing what I did and set up a trade file in the target directory? I highly suggest you do because that's what I did and it turned out to be something as stupid as a putting graphics problem. There is a post in here earlier about how to do it but it is actually quite straightforward.

Been trying to get this game to work for a while now, but the AI keeps on going off track and crashing at most circuits, so simulating a championship is pretty much impossible.. Okay that worked. I'll try running the game later and I'll copy the Trace file here. Does it update it each time I load the game or race, or does it create/overwrite a new one? I'd imagine it'd either update it or overwrite it. But I'll let you know how it goes.
