Re: Longest gap between scoring points?

Thanks Tommy.

You never know, Mercedes might give Piercarlo Ghinzani a drive sometime this season, so that he can take Ericsson's record! He scored points in his 15th start but then went 61 other races without scoring before he retired... :-)

Longest gap between scoring points?

I read somewhere over the weekend that Marcus Ericsson has a record now for the longest gap between two points-scoring finishes (50 starts). I can't seem to find anything to confirm this though. Who had the record before, does anyone know? I know that Luca Badoer went 50 races without ever scoring, ...

Re: Best Reject livery

The BBC have been running a poll about 'back of the grid' liveries: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/43531800 Because of this, I was trying to argue with my brother that Larousse had the best liveries of the golden era of multi-team F1 in the late 80s/early 90s. They always managed to make severa...

Brundle once mentioned Ken Tyrrell's sentiments I remember- Tyrrell laid into Brundle for moving aside for the leaders, saying "you know how much money it would cost me to gain you the two seconds you lost doing that?"

Thank you everyone for your replies, very enlightening!

Blue Flag History

Following some discussion amongst commentators at the Australian GP, it got me wondering... does anyone know when blue flags first started to be used in F1? There's a Simtek at the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey, although not in its original livery. When I last went there it was upside down on the ceiling I seem to remember!

They also have Senna's 1991 McLaren.

With Massa and Button not racing next season, 2017 will feature only seven previous Grand Prix winners (Both Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari drivers and Alonso). Passing in pit-lane entry under safety car

I'm not sure if this was brought up in commentary or analysis, but... When Vettel pounced past Hulkenberg and one other car on the pit entry earlier, this was under safety car conditions. If so, do the same rules over no overtaking apply within the pit entry? I honestly don't know the answer to this...

On another note- would an adaptation of Formula E's qualifying work for Formula 1? Send the cars out in random groups of 4/5, give each group ten minutes to set a time, then the top drivers from each group go through to a 'shoot-out' session for pole? The rest of the grid is formed purely on the tim...

A bit harsh to list Salo amongst the other drivers mentioned in this thread. I feel his record at Monaco- the real test of a driver- is enough alone to show his standing and performance.
