K-Mag then Bottas for me. (Would have been the other way round if Bottas hadn't muffed the start, I'm sure he would have had P5 instead).

Re: Reject of the Race - Bahrain 2022

Red Bull get this hands down, but for everyone saying McLaren, it might be more appropriate to say Mercedes-powered cars in general, as the works team were a clear third, and the 3 customer teams filled the last 6 places on the road (obviously the Red Bulls were classified behind them). Maybe only W...

I would have said before Abu Dhabi, Latifi would have been a contender for this thread, even his points finish in Hungary was pretty much forgotten after Russell's podium in the non-Spa race.

Re: 2021 Discussion Thread

I reckon if Hamilton gets fined or penalised for missing the awards ceremony then he walks away from the sport which would be tragic given it would all be because the rules got changed at the last minute.......and rumours are saying if that happens then Bottas gets recalled to Mercedes and Giovinazz...

Re: 2021 Discussion Thread

Some recompense for Hamilton is to think back to 2008 and an equally dodgy safety car (not at the last race, but in Singapore) - without that, Massa would have probably won the race, and with it would have had enough points in hand in Brazil for the Glock situation to have been completely irrelevant...

Re: 2021 Discussion Thread

The thought dawned on me myself, and the two names I came up with were Alonso (though he's hardly a long-term prospect, he'd be a stopgap big name till Russell gets enough front-running/title-contending experienced) and Vettel (You can't take away from the fact he's a 4-time WDC). Getting Bottas bac...

Re: Reject of the Race - Abby Dabby 2021

I'm also DHM-ing Christian Horner. Even has to have a pop at the opposition even in victory. Mercedes have a genuine case against the FIA here so don't call their appeal pathetic. I find him and Marko far worse than Toto and that's saying something - it goes back to their Vettel/Webber days.

Re: Reject of the Race - Abby Dabby 2021

There's also the rule which says that after lapped cars get let through then they have to do another lap before green flag conditions recommence. Mercedes do have a genuine case here so this could get very ugly. That said I was impressed by Hamilton's reactions afterwards - 10 or even 5 years ago I ...

Re: Reject of the Race - Abby Dabby 2021

Yep. Masi. Way to ruin what should have been a great finale. It's either let all the lapped cars through or none at all. The trouble is, Mercedes are right to protest but you can't reverse the champion after the celebrations. I didn't mind which driver was champion as long as it was decided fairly a...

Verstappen is just plain dangerous. Think most of the Red Bull stable was pretty poor TBH - not only Horner's antics and Alpha Tauri dropping like stones but also Max for missing the double-waved yellow, Perez for missing Q3 and also he should never have finished behind Alonso (his strategy always seemed to have him in traffic), and a...

Something not previously mentioned: Gasly's penalty - SO harsh when he was 3 abreast in the wet. Without it, could have beaten Hamilton, possibly even Leclerc. It's between Bottas and Tsunoda for me. Bottas let Max through WAY too easily and Yuki was nowhere. He can count himself lucky that Albon has signed for Williams as he'd be a prime candidate to take his seat otherwise.

m Alex Albon confirmed at Williams. That surprises me actually, I thought Mercedes would block it rather than letting a Red Bull driver go to one of its customer teams. The thing I thought they might do if Red Bull wanted Albon back in a race seat was to offload Perez on Williams (as Perez doesn't h...
