Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Abou Diaby 2023

1. Yuki Tsunoda. The first Japanese driver to lead a lap on merit since Takuma Sato in 2004.

2. The chequered flag. For ending this wretched awful season at long last.

Reject of the Race - Abou Diaby 2023

1. 2023 Abou Diaby Grand Prix. 58 tedious laps to wrap up a season so awful it makes 2002 and 2004 look like the good old days of F1. It's exactly what Liberty Media and the FIA deserve.

2. Jorge Martin. A ridiculous choke at Valencia.

Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Brazil 2023

1. Aston Martin. Suddenly looking like the team which showed up to Bahrain rather than the one in North America.

2. Unreliability. About time we had a healthy dose of it this year.

Reject of the Race - Brazil 2023

1. Charles Leclerc's car. The dictionary definition of instant ROTR.

2. Mercedes. Possibly their worst "normal" race since Austria 2018, their race pace and tyre management was frankly embarrassing.

Honourable mention to Alfa Romeo for a costly double DNF

Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Qatar 2023

1. Alfa Romeo. A rare double points finish, exactly what Hinwil needed.

2. Oscar Piastri. He's the real deal alright.

Reject of the Race - Qatar 2023

1. Mercedes . Team mates colliding is pretty much always an instant ROTR. 2. Nico Hulkenberg . A pretty ridiculous error to make, especially when the lower midfield had a legit shot at points today. Honourable mention to Pirelli/mandatory pit windows . I watched the 2002 CART season a few years ago,...

Driver Profile - Lella Lombardi

Evening everyone. It's time for another Driver Profile, and this may be one of the most important ones we've ever published. Out of nearly 800 Formula 1 drivers over the last 74 years, only five have been female, and only one has reached the scoreboard in a World Championship Grand Prix. Yes, we've ...

Re: Singapore GP ROTR

1. Red Bull . Bafflingly off the pace having crushed everything in their path beforehand. 2. Fernando Alonso . A performance that could merit the "Retire, Old Man" tag. Honourable mentions to Logan Sargeant , who should be demoted a rank to Logan Soldier after that performance, and George ...

Re: Singapore GP IIDOTR

1. Carlos Sainz Jr . Be real, who thought Carlos would be the one to end RB's reign of terror? Dominant and sneakily tactical drive worthy of Alain Prost, glad to see him get a much cleaner victory than his rather scruffy Silverstone win last season. 2. Liam Lawson . Points in that barge of a car. I...

Driver Profile - François Migault

Evening everyone :deletraz: After a relatively barren 1960s, French drivers seemed to drip out of every pore of motorsport. While many of them experienced significant success in Formula 1, others simply didn't get the breaks. Our subject this time around had the misfortune of getting drives with BRM...

Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Italy 2023

1. Carlos Sainz Jr. An unexpected pole and a hard-earned podium, can't really ask more from the weekend.

2. Liam Lawson. More and more evidence he should be in the AT for the rest of the season.

Reject of the Race - Italy 2023

1. The formation lap fiasco. Not casting the sport in a great light, a bit too much like amateur hour.

2. Alpine. Double Q1 knockout, never looked likely to score.

Honourable mention to Aston Martin, the first time this season they've looked genuinely poor.

Mike Taylor (who may or may note be related :alonso:) in O.S.C.A. F156A chassis 16 and Vanwall VE2 engine 2

Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Belgium 2023

1. Yuki Tsunoda . Hauled that boat of a car to a points finish it didn't deserve, all while crushing his new team mate. A nice job done well. 2. Oscar Piastri . Purely for his performance in the Sprint Race yesterday, completely vindicating his decision to leave Alpine in the lurch this time last ye...

Reject of the Race - Belgium 2023

1. Carlos Sainz Jr . A tragicomedy of a race, all of his own making. 2. Daniel Ricciardo . Utterly demolished by Tsundoa today. A really inspired choice of replacement for De Vries clearly. Honourable mentions to Haas and Red Dwarf: Back to Earth , which I started watching at lap 4 today having neve...
